I saw clips of Wawa during the red carpet walk on Weibo Night 2026. She's beautiful, but who dresses her?! That dress was...different... Are artists allowed to choose their own red carpet gowns or do they have to wear whatever their company dictates? I will say that she's gorgeous, and even a potato sack...or a weird dress...won't make her shine less.
The drama is basically adapted from Li Kaiyuan's novel, Qin Mi. Her character may be fictional, but if she's roughly…
Novicevidder, thanks for the latest information on Wawa. I hoped she would be heading immediately into a new drama project. Reality shows are fine, but I just really want to watch more of her in dramas. She's so talented, and she's proven to be very versatile in portraying vastly different characters. It's just so disheartening that the Chinese entertainment industry is overlooking such talent. If you (or anyone else) has further information on Dai Luwa, please share it on this site. I don't know how to read Chinese, and this thread has been so wonderfully informative for me. Thanks!
I saw the video of Wawa's wrap up with the filming of Qin Mi. She looks so pretty! I hope her character won't have a pitiful ending in the drama. Empresses/concubines always tend to be heartbroken and end up being discarded by the emperor. Does anyone know what is Wawa's next drama project? There is some rumor that she will be in a drama with Li Hongyi. Is that true? What about Inferno of Wings? Any news on that drama?
The Road to Glory – Rumored drama with Zhang Linghe. The Ceremony Banquet on January 8 Be My Universe – Rumored…
Well, thank goodness Wawa is still the rumored female lead for Inferno of Wings. Her image very firmly comes to mind whenever I read the novel, so I don't think I can accept any other actress other than Wawa playing Ruyi. However, I am confused about why it's so difficult casting a male lead. The male lead is a likable and powerful character, so I am not sure why there are no interested actors wanting to audition for the role.

The rumored projects circulating online all aren't true? Including Inferno of Wings? Is that one false, too? Aww, that's too bad. I liked the Inferno of Wings story plot and thought Wawa would be perfect for the role of Ruyi (leading female character).

Yes, please send me the links! Even if they are just rumored dramas, it is at least some news about Dai Luwa. I may be setting myself up for disappointment if she isn't in at least one of the dramas, but I can't resist reading the rumors. I was so excited about the rumor that she would be the leading character in Inferno of Wings that I read the entire English translation of the story. Then...there was no further news of the drama and no confirmation of whether she will be casted as the female lead. :(
Oh, thank goodness I found this thread! I didn't know there was a discussion section if I scrolled all the way down the page under Dai Luwa's name! I have LOVED Dai Luwa since watching her amazing portrayal of Fuling. Unfortunately, I don't know how to read Chinese, and among the English forums and YouTube, there isn't much information about her. Finally, I have found a thread dedicated to her and her upcoming projects! I saw some clips of her during iQiyi Scream Night, and wow, she was so gorgeous. I loved her sexy black dress during the awards portion of the night. I wish there were more clips of her during that awards ceremony and during the backstage portion. I know she's filming Qin Mi right now and that the drama might finish filming in February. Are there any confirmed reports of what she will be filming next after Qin Mi? Some actors are so busy that they jump from the filming of one drama right into the next without any break in between. I hope Wawa will get busy and popular to that point. She's so beautiful and talented, and those looks and talent should not be wasted!
If Dai Luwa isn’t the FL, I’m not watching 😭💔 simple.
I am not even sure if Inferno of Wings is still being produced. I haven't heard any news about it anymore. Has anyone here heard any news?
I agree with you. I just want Dai Luwa to be the female lead. I can only envision her as Ruyi when I read the story. I don't care who the male lead is, but it would be nice if it's an actor who can act and fits the image of the Azure God.
I think Dai Luwa is now filming Qin Mi (The Mystery of the Qin) with Chen Xiao and Zhang Xincheng. I saw a picture of her on douyin in costume, and she looks so delicate and beautiful. I haven't seen any other pictures or videos of Qin Mi's filming, but just seeing that one picture of Wawa is getting me excited for the drama.
I would like to express my hopeful wishes: Dai Luwa as Shen Miao
Dai Luwa would be PERFECT for the role of Shen Miao! She's the complete package; she's beautiful AND can act. She's a chameleon and can adapt to any role, as evidenced by the wide range of characters she has portrayed. She also looks much younger than her age, so we can avoid the awkward situation of older actresses looking ridiculous trying to portray a much younger character. With the correct makeup and hairstyle, she can transition smoothly from the mature, deeply heartbroken, and betrayed Empress Shen to the youthful, elegant, calculative younger version of Shen Miao.
As for the male lead casting, I am undecided. However, the actor casted as Xie Jingxing cannot be too popular, or else, it will turn into a male centric drama. This actor also has to be someone who can appear deceptively playful and easygoing but with a hidden steely, ruthless aura. Xie Jingxing is probably one of the most beloved leading male characters in a novel. It will be hard to find a good fit for him.
I heard a rumor online that Inferno of Wings could not find a popular enough male lead to help boost the drama's marketability, and therefore, the project has been stalled. I also heard that Tencent might purchase the rights to the drama and cast its own actors and actresses in the leading roles. Therefore, Wawa might not be casted as Ruyi, afterall. :( Is this information correct? My Mandarin is not that good, and I may have misunderstood the information I found online. Does anyone have more news on this drama and whether Wawa is in or out of the running for female lead? If Wawa isn't going to be Ruyi, then I am going to be so disappointed! I was really looking forward to Wawa playing Ruyi, no matter who will be casted as the male lead. Now it seems like my hopes are going to be crushed! I don't understand how less beautiful and less talented actresses are getting casted as female leads and have no problems finding high profile, popular actors to play opposite them, and yet, Wawa is facing so many obstacles. The Azure God is a very likable, powerful character. Why aren't popular actors interested in the role?
i honestly don't care who's the ml as long as dai luwa's the fl 😭😭 i read the novel after seeing the melon…
I agree. Dai Luwa would be perfect for Ruyi. Her prior role, Fu Ling, already has some similarities to Ruyi, so she should be able to transform into Ruyi with no problems. I am more flexible with my choices for the Azure God, but I don't think just anybody would do, of course. The male lead's peerless handsome looks has been mentioned many times in the novel and was a major reason why Ruyi fell in lust with him initially. He was also described as austere, powerful, and about a head taller than Ruyi, so whomever the director casts as the Azure God needs to be tall, very handsome, and hopefully, also has the imposing aura of a powerful god. That's a tall order to fulfill. Maybe that's why the production team hasn't found a male lead yet? Or maybe they have casted someone already and decided to keep the audience guessing? I am just getting anxious that they haven't officially announced the cast for the leading female and male roles. I would also like to know who would be casted as Wei Zijue, who is very similar in build and appearance to the male lead character. If the right actors/actress are casted as Ruyi, Azure God, and Wei Zijue, AND nobody gets any stupid ideas to make strange changes to the plot and character personalities, then this will be definitely a drama to look forward to.
Oh, no. The scriptwriter is horrible? What other drama screenplays has this scriptwriter written?
I have not seen Beauty of Resistance.
Oh heavens. I actually really like the Inferno of Wings novel. I hope this scriptwriter doesn't ruin the storyline or the characters. Why is she still being hired to write scripts if she isn't good? Aren't there other scriptwriters in China?
why does this shit always happen to women???? Mind you she's been doing supporting roles for 10 years....chs was…
That's awful. So in order to get leading roles in Chinese entertainment, you don't need talent or hard work; instead, you need a heavy dose of nepotism and connections with rich investors? That's plain unfair, but I guess it's the same in any career. Powerful connections will get a person further along, even if someone else has a better education and more talent. I am starting to worry for Wawa. There is no confirmation, even now, regarding whether she's casted as Ruyi. Plus, even if she is casted, someone here mentioned the screenwriter sucks. Acting talent can only go so far. If the script is bad, then the drama will suffer.

Why can't Wawa change to another talent agency? Does she have a very extended contract with them? Isn't it to the agency's benefit to leap into action when one of its stars becomes hot? I am sure if the company's actors make it to the A list, the company would make money, too. So why is the agency still waffling and doing nothing to promote Wawa? Maybe she doesn't have a wealthy or important enough background to sway investors?
Also, I agree with you ladies here; I lose respect for male celebrities who silently allow their overzealous fans to bully their costars. Even if their costars are not their good friends, at least they are colleagues and deserve respect. If you see your colleague or friend being trampled to death, literally or figuratively, by YOUR fans, you should never, ever quietly and cowardly walk away without helping. I understand actors depend on their fan base for their popularity and livelihood, but at what expense? At the expense of their own decency as human beings who should do the right thing? I wouldn't be able to sleep well at night if I turned a blind eye to the bullying of a colleague or friend. So thumbs up to Zhai Xiaowen for being a real man.
I read that the start of filming for Inferno of Wings has been postponed from September to November. Is that true? Maybe it's postponed because a male lead hasn't been casted yet? Why is it so hard to find an actor to play the male lead, Shen Qiyuan? In the novel, Shen Qiyuan is a very likable and powerful character. Therefore, there should be plenty of actors willing to play this role, right?
Shadanhwsh, thanks for the information. I just searched information on Heart Signal. It's a dating variety show? A bunch of single women and men live together in a shared house and send text messages to each other, and panel of celebrities/experts are suppose to guess who is romantically interested in whom? Am I correct? Is Wawa one of the singles looking for a match or one of the celebrities on the panel? I hear the participants on the show have to cohabit for a month. If Wawa is on this show, what about the filming for Inferno of Wings? I heard rumors that filming starts in September. I hope she is confirmed for the role of Ruyi. When I am reading the novel, I picture her in the role.
Is there any news on whether Dai Luwa is confirmed for the female lead role and who the male lead is? I keep re-reading the translated novel and am starting to get really excited about seeing her portray Ruyi. I think I am going to be so disappointed if she doesn't get the role.
If you (or anyone else) has further information on Dai Luwa, please share it on this site. I don't know how to read Chinese, and this thread has been so wonderfully informative for me. Thanks!
