Well, I think if Dai Luwa really did contact Chang Huasen personally to tell him about Inferno of Wings, then that's good news, because I think it means that her role as the female lead is already confirmed. Otherwise, why would she encourage him to consider a male lead role in a drama that she may or may not even be casted in?
Second, judging from Dai Luwa and Chang Huasen's interactions during their promotion of Moonlight Mystique, they really seem to know each other very well, far beyond the polite friendliness of mere colleagues. Therefore, I feel that they have probably continued to keep in touch frequently even after the filming of Moonlight Mystique. Their body language and their comfort with each other just point toward a deeper relationship than just coworkers. Are they just really good friends, romantically involved, or somewhere in between during the beginning stages of attraction? Who knows? Only they will be able to tell us, and frankly, it's none of our business or their fans' business. Even parents nowadays don't have complete control over whom their children date, let alone drama viewers and fans!
However, my point is not whether they are just friends or dating, but that it's very normal for good friends to refer each other to projects that they are involved in. For example, if you were working on a project that is still missing a team member, wouldn't you tell your good friend about it and ask him if he is interested in joining the project? It's the logical thing to do, so the possibility that Wawa and Chang Huasen talk about potential projects during their private conversations is not that weird or shocking.
I agree Chang Huasen would make a good Azure God visually, but I also think Chen Xingxu would fit the character nicely, too. In fact, Chang Huasen might do well as Wei Zijue, since Wei Zijue is portrayed as having that youthful vigor, whereas the Azure God is more mature and reserved in temperament. The only caveat is that whichever actors are casted as Wei Zijue and Azure God must look pretty similar but not completely identical, since it's a major plot point that these two important men in Ruyi's life resemble each other in appearance about 70-80%.
By the way, which reality show is Wawa going to be in?
Oh wow. That's awful about the hate campaign. I first noticed Dai Luwa from Lost You Forever. I thought she was cute in there and did a good job of making a character that was a spoiled brat likable. It wasn't until Moonlight Mystique that I really, really liked her. Her Fuling was phenomenal, in my opinion.
Which actor's fandom is targeting her? :( I just wish everyone's fans can get along. The actors are just doing their jobs and trying to make a living. Privately off screen, the actors are probably good friends, or at least, colleagues who get along well, so there is no need for fans to try to pit celebrities against each other.
After learning about the rumors that Dai Luwa would be casted as Ruyi in Inferno of Wings, I read through the entire English translated Inferno of Wings novel in 3 days. It's a very good story, with a good mix of an enduring love that spans thousands of years and epic battles among gods, demons, and mortals.
(Some spoilers ahead!)
Ruyi, the female lead character, reminds me a bit of Fuling from Moonlight Mystique - decisive, carefree, seductively beautiful, but with that tinge of vulnerability and humanity underneath the tough exterior that never fails to soften the male lead's heart. This role is perfect for Dai Luwa! The male lead is described as tall (about a head taller than the female lead) and "peerlessly handsome." He is the Azure God, who is reserved, cold-faced, strict, and never bends the rules. He sees everything in black and white, but for Ruyi (female lead, who is a demon), he changes and starts to see that the world is filled with shades of gray.
Is there any more news on the search for the male lead? I am very excited to find out who will play the Azure God. I think if they cast the right actor to star opposite Dai Luwa and don't make weird changes to the original novel plot, this Ruyi-Azure God pairing will become a fan favorite.
