Hello. Can someone help. I randomly thought of this drama I just finished around a month ago, but for the life of me can’t remember how Barcode’s character died. He did die, right? And basically they all died but the 3? One went delulu, and the other 2 got to live? Kind of?
This drama was such a mess, I can’t even remember it straight. 😵‍💫
I did try to scan through the last episode, but it was such a mess, it just hurts my eyes at this point. 😂

Also, I read part of your conversations here of late, and I totally agree on the point that we really should be judging these shows on a technical stand point. i.e. production value, acting prowess, cinematography, editing etc. I really don’t understand people who take it so personally when the dramas they like/love get a low rating or aren’t as loved/appreciated as they do, and for some reason can’t comprehend that the drama sucks, not because we hate on it for the sake of hating, but because the production/plot just sucks and pulls a rating down, specially if you really like rating dramas based on technicalities, which, in my opinion, is the best and honest kind of rating. Not just considering the feels, but from a technical point as well, because I personally believe these dramas deserve a real rating. Don’t you think? Lol

I really don't want to write a dissertation like some other people are in the comments, but I really do understand what most of the comments are saying. There really was room for a lot of improvement, not withstanding a lot of loopholes in the storyline, if you really think about it. I guess my best take is this is sort of a commentary on how toxic Korean society still is with homophobia, among other things. It really is a cultural thing, I guess. Also, with how it seems a lot of the people here critically feel the same way, I'm certainly surprised that this got a higher rating then what I feel it should really have. Welp. Just my opinion. 🙃
Mental health is no joke, bullying is never all right, we shouldn't fall for people who obviously don't feel the same way, machismo should just drop dead and fall off a cliff, and we should all know our worth.

This drama had one of the weakest conflicts. It really felt like an overreaction, or even a stretch. I mean, I understand that you can get mad over what happened, but what a shallow reason to lash out. It felt very superficial, to be honest, especially how, because of how short each episode was, it felt rushed and not really fleshed out. It really left a lot to be desired. :((

I interpreted it as, “if Teh only likes girls, why couldn’t I just have been born a girl so that he can just love me.” I don’t think he was necessarily exploring his gender, but more on frustration over potentially pining over a “straight” boy. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I honestly am impressed by how good that was, specially considering that this is a Korean BL film from 2017! It was so good, I only wish it had a bigger budged, was longer, and fleshed out a lot of storylines that had such huge potential. SOLID 8.5 with all the KILIG! (Google it)

Au contraire. I’ve seen many a BL, mostly Thai, so I’d like to think I know what I’m talking about. When I say kisses, I mean kisses with fervor and not open mouth, fish out of water, or even just unresponsive lip kisses WHICH they really only used to save to the very end of the drama. I was using 2gether as an example. That was the biggest BL of 2020 which I would say wasn’t that long ago. Point being, City of Stars, or the BLs we get these days are exponentially so different already with even just the kisses compared to just 4 years ago. The amount of affectionate kisses, or affection in general, we got from City of Stars, or in I Feel You Linger in the Air, if you want another example, was really heartwarming, specially for gay people like myself. It feels natural. It’s normal.

Old Fashion Cupcake is one of my favorite adult themed Japanese BLs. Totally recommend.

Everything was so good, swear! But I didn’t really like how they tried to normalize/rationalize cheating in the end. Know your worth, people! Also, the ending caught everyone off guard for sure. I would love another season with these 2, specially to give us answers to that ending. I don’t want to find the book just to understand how that happened! 😫 ALSO. Gosh, Bright is so handsome, I can’t even! Non is also quite charming as well, of course.

Production was excellent, and the story was such a rollercoaster. All the boys are gay and I love it! Such a blatant slap on Korean machismo. Ew. Though I have to say, I’d like to think I’m smart, but the whole premise hurt my head just a little bit. But still. My highest rated this year so far for BL year 2024! 😙

I really have to say, we’ve really come a long, long way from the angled fake kisses and terrible/toxic representation we had from the early years of Thai BLs. 2gether got nothing on this one FOR REAL! I know skinship isn’t everything, but to see a couple that actually kisses like a real couple. I am just blown away! The most solid 8.5 rating I ever 8.5-ed. I haven't felt post BL withdrawals like this in a hot minute. I miss them already!
