Kudos ! to the writer(s), creators, producers and investors for making this excellent TV program showing the socio-economic damages and life-long suffering that DYSLEXIA (consequently, other learning disabilities too) can cause in people's lives.
It's amazing that this show managed to be funded, produced, and aired in Japan and be brought internationally (for example, via Netflix in the US).
We are in the 21st century... and yet to learn that governments and societies in Japan (proud of its modernization) and in so many other countries (and not just developing countries... as I found out after doing a bit of research) are not systematically addressing learning disabilities is rather shocking.
Hence, this TV show is amazing because it not only addresses DYSLEXIA, but also other socio-economic prejudices, stigma and problems in a relatively light-hearted, sweet, and chewable format (light romance) so it may be more appealing to a wider audience.
Please read other people's comments and reviews about the romance, production, actors, plot, etc. I just decided to comment about the dyslexia because I have not seen much about this important subject.
(By the way, I do not know of relatives or close friends suffering of learning disabilities, but my heart goes out to those who are and have been.)

Ante todo, permítame recalcar que respeto su opinión... mas escribo esto para OTROS lectores si acaso desean leer esta otra opinión .
En el programa que ví en Netflix USA... tanto el padre como la madre, el 2do novio-comprometido de la protagonista y sobretodo el protagonista sí crecieron emocionalmente y progresaron / hubo desarrollo. (La protagonista obvio que cambió como ya CindeyLuis estableció.)
Quizá estos personajes no pegaron brincos inmensos y tampoco les dieron muchas escenas que digamos para ver los desarrollos, pero dentro de la cultura japonesa, dentro de lo ¨realista¨ que trataron de mantener el relato-cuento-historia... los cambios son más que sutiles y compaginan con el lapso de tiempo que ¨ha pasado¨ en el show. (Al final de la historia... NO pasaron más que unos cuantos meses, menos de 1 año hasta que la pareja principal se reunen en la playa.)
El protagonista como no logró pasar el examen al primer intento para el instituto vocacional de belleza adonde quería aprender a ser estilista-peluquero-barbero... y él reitera en el show que esa es la profesión a la que aspira... en los últimos episodios se ve que él continúa estudiando y no deja de practicar y aprender a escribir y por su cuenta... porque quiere poder ejercer una mejor carrera para la chica que ama y porque quiere nuevamente presentar examen para el instituto de belleza el próximo año... Como sólo ha pasado menos de 1 año, no es realista que un disléxico pueda aprender tan rápido y menos si tiene que trabajar para ganarse la vida. Es cierto que él regresa a ser ¨host¨ por necesidad (¨mejor¨paga sin necesidad de escribir-leer o certificados de graduación de secundaria o universitaria) pero el protagonista establece que ésta vez es diferente porque tiene planes para una mejor vida y porque han cambiado las leyes de ese sector (entertainment - hosting). Además, el chico se independiza financieramente de la madre (quien se ha estado aprovechando emocionalmente de su hijo mayor y tratándolo como un cajero automático ATM) y se libera emocionalmente también pues ella no hacía más que cortarle las alas e ilusiones al hijo. Al final cuando el protagonista por fin puede ahorrar para sí mismo, él sabe que podrá sufragar mejor sus estudios si acaso logra aprender lo suficiente como para ser admitido en el instituto. El protagonista, a su ritmo pues sufre de dislexia, cree más en sí mismo, en su posibilidad, capacidad y habilidad, está emocionalmente más fuerte y se siente menos basura, más bien tiene anhelos para superarse ( una gran diferencia... cuando anteriormente solo subsistía y se sentía siempre inferior sin salida para una mejor vida). Sobretodo, el protagonista aprende que no se puede rendir (como por ejemplo cuando se derrumbó al no ser aceptado en el primer intento en el instituto) y está dispuesto a trabajar y concentrarse más para aprender a escribir - leer. Además a medida que van pasando los episodios, sobre todo en la recta fina, el protagonista lee con más soltura y escribe un poco mejor. Va progresando y conquistando su dislexia poco a poco en vez de rendirse. El personaje evoluciona y progresa porque acaba con la fuerza y entereza mental para esforzarse ahora que su meta es poder ejercer otra profesión para poder estar con su amada (y esto con el permiso del padre de la chica).
En cuanto a los padres de la protagonista... la madre por fin se rebela y después que se enoja y le pide el divorcio al padre (wow!!!)... el padre, a su forma, comprueba que el protagonista es lo suficientemente decente para su hija (pues el protagonista demostró tener paciencia, poder controlar sus emociones y saber respetar a sus mayores... sumamente importante para la cultura oriental). El padre reta al chico para que vaya a un instituto vocacional (en vez de simplemente rendirse porque su hija necesita un hombre que sepa superarse) y los aprueba... más bien, los deja en paz en vez de entrometerse y seguir forzando la vida de la hija de 35 años. Mientras, a la madre se le ve que se independiza a su forma y que se marcha a trabajar... Y al ultra conservador, autócrata, mandón y machista del padre (a quien no se le puede negar que quiere y cuida a la antigua de su familia...) lo vemos tranquilamente sin dar pataletas en la cocina encargándose de la preparación de la próxima comida. El padre va aprendiendo a respetar tanto a su hija como a su mujer (y apreciar los esfuerzos que conlleva mantener un hogar). En ambos casos, grandes progresos para los personajes de los padres.
El ex-novio-comprometido evoluciona también. Pasa de ser un total egoísta a una persona que ayuda a la protagonista ( a la pareja para que estén juntos y ayuda con el padre de la chica)...
No sé si CindeyLuis vió este show con subtítulos en castellano o si vió el programa entero en inglés. Quizá ud y yo hemos llegado a diferentes conclusiones porque hubo discrepancias en las traducciones... ? Y si acaso estamos en 2 países diferentes, quizá vimos 2 versiones editadas diferentemente. No. The show is worth watching for the story, content, social issues; however it's romance-light. I mean, they like each other early on. The FL is extremely supportive of the ML and he adores her for that, but there are 2 pecks (1-second kisses) and they briefly hug 2x? 3x? 4x? They do hold hands.
Can kisskh please correct / update this actor/singer's TV SHOW listing? There is no way he was a guest to anythiing from 1951-1992 because he was born in 2003.
How'd I not guess that the ML is actually the comic artist that the FL is a fan of until the reveal a few eps…
Five minutes into the 1st episode, the editor calls the ML about the PR event... the ML's other identity is revealed at the beginning. However, the FL only finds out util epi 12-13 (half way through the show).

WATCH THIS!! for all those doubting about another cold, mean, super condescending ML ... he is NOT. this TV show and its success highly encouraged the trend of high IQ MLs who are also sweet... early in the show instead of dragging the romance...
this is a happy show that makes viewers smile and laugh. it's cute and funny.
also, the main couple has plenty of air time together (unlike many other shows where other side stories take up too much time) .

1- does the main couple really get together only until the end?? no romance, no obvious or unspoken "i like you, you like me, we like each other... we are together... kind of vibe... but cannot make it public and official until the end"? Sorry for asking... "romance" is tagged... but if this show is one of those where there's very little sweetness or there's just a hint of romance all the way through and then BAM they end up together at the end.... and one watches this show for the other plots... i would appreciate knowing in advance ... In epi 4, ML finds out He Yan is a girl. In ep 29, ML learns that the FL was HRF.
Epi 1 starts with the ML suffering due to HRF's betrayal. However, this is not an enemies to lovers story because the leads spent years together during their childhood (?), teenage and military years when the FL was the "young HRF". In fact, I think the ML's father might have also help (military) train the FL too; the ML's father bestowed the twin swords to both the ML and FL (as HRF).
