I just saw your Q. For what it's worth...
For anyone trying to decide which one to watch first...
First Frost (FF) and Hidden Love (HL) are about the two Sang siblings.
FF is about the older brother's love story starting in high school.
HL is about the younger sister's crush starting in middle school when her brother and one of his roommates (the crush) are in college.
At one point, both love stories are happening at the same time in different cities.
After watching one of the TV adaptations, I read both books. Beautiful poignant journeys and love stories. HL is a happier and cuter story while FF is darker and not fluffy. There's no need to watch these in any sequence because each story is self contained. HL was produced and released first. In FF, both Sang siblings were casted with different actor/actress.
Truly highly recommend both TV series!

ML and SML chase after FL. Yes, happy ending.

It stops being silly later on. The series will still have funny scenes sprinkled here and there, but it will not continue to rely on slapstick. It does get more serious, but I did not feel that it was so serious that I would feel angst... {I did not, but other viewers might]. At one point I found the show tiring and repetitive. Yet I finished the show because I thought both leads were excellent portraying their characters- especially the actress. The ML was great too, but I have seen already his acting capabilities in many of his previous dramas. This time, the FL actress impressed me. Hmmm... this is just my opinion.

There are two fictional worlds, one embedded in the other one.
The real story teller is the last lady at the end of ep 40.
She writes a modern story about some actors, agents, producers, directors, scriptwriter or screenwriter, etc, The modern lead actress wakes up in the historical world where she was going to lead/act in. The truth, however, is that the "modern" world was also a fictional setup that the lady author wrote about a fictional modern lead actress, actor and male scriptwriter. That's why it's "A dream within a dream." The dream of the historical world is inside/within the dream/story of the modern show business world. The "modern" world in ep 1 is fictional. The historical world is also fictional.

After FL found out that the shirt did not belong to ML, did FL run another DNA test on the ML?
If not, why didn't she? Did the ML not offer or did he refuse to have a DNA test done?

Main couple does not breakup.

If I recall correctly, ep 16 is when she really lets go, kisses him for real, etc. He kisses her in the car on ep 9 (when he was jealous), but I feel that in ep 16 is when the romance begins (instead of the ML leading and waiting for the FL). The romance grows gradually, By the way, the couple has plenty of air time and sweet moments.
