The new actress is, for me, missing the sassiness. She is very somber and direct, which Fumiko was too, but she and Fukami lack chemistry, imo. He is playing the character in exactly the same way but it its different off of her. So sorry the original actress was pregnant/had baby while this was filming. Happy for her but sad for us.

Question: I understand that the heroine is suffering from PTSD. She sees a maid whom I assume died and has a strong reaction to monkeys. But when the hero pays to have all monkeys removed from the city, does he resolve the issue of whether there were really monkeys in the yard? It did not seem like he did. (Or I missed it somehow.)

I don't think they care much about the technical details of reality. She'll marry when they are ready for her to marry, even if she is in her late thirties.

What drew me to this drama is the dynamics of this large, powerful family and how that plays out in how they must live in regards to poltics. The tightrope they carefully walk to stay alive is mesmerizing. Third young madame has always looked disgusted to have married in to their clan, so I am waiting to see how that plays out. They completely shortchanged us in regards to the romance. They could have been placing little moments throughout, skipped the montage of him walking and shown instead scenes of the two leads planting flowers, whatever just to give us a lead in to their nuptial night.

It's not that we need more episodes; it's that we need fewer episodes on secondary characters. We spent too much time on the eldest daughter and getting her a divorce. The battle sequences are too long and too prevalent. We just need a tighter script, imo. But episode 39 did stink. Montages should be outlawed.

Xiu Wan was/is a child who allowed herslf to be seduced and mislead by two people whom all of her elders had vetted. Both first madam and Jin Qi lauded Cui Que and Song to the skies. Having seen them so loved and respected by her family, it was only natural that she felt it safe to trust them.

Jin Qi was a grown man who deliberately circumvented Lan Xiang, her parents, and her mentor (and he knew how that man felt about him), as well as his own family. He had seen the friendship between Mr. Lu, the Han family, and the Wu family, and he knew he would interfere with what her parents had already chosen. While Lan Xiang may not have loved Han, she was clearly close friends with him. Jin Qi had no say in his first marriage and hated and plotted against his wife. (She had it coming.) Yet he turns around and does exactly the same thing to Lan Xiang. And he clearly knew there were possible feelings between her and Han because of how jealous he is of Han and how often he tells her she can only be his wife and to get over any other ideas she has. He freaking knows she doesn't have the familial support to fight him, and any chance she had of getting his family on her side of the argument flew out the window with the imperial decree. I'm sorry, but his and Xiu Wan's actions aren't even close to comparable. She was a misguided child whose family left her vulnerable to villains. He chose his own evil path.

I agree with a lot of what you said. The whole time I was watching Han and FL become sweet friends my heart ached because I knew that he wasn’t the ML and they would be split up.

My own opinion is the ML knew heroine would say, “Thanks, no” to his proposal so he circumvented her.

Han was a perfect fit. Her family knew and liked him, his family liked her. They were neighbors of equal standing and their proximity meant that they would eat and live together as one big family. Han wouldn’t have abandoned her as he moved up, so he would have eventually returned her to the life she had lost. However, it wouldn’t have been one big leap that left her family uncomfortable. They would have built a life together.

The ML knew all this. He knew his own family would begrudge her station and the lack of connections and money she brought to the match. He knew how uncomfortable it would be for her among the other wives of his peers. He knew her family couldn’t defend or support her against his. And he didn’t care. That sure didn’t seem like love to me.

That's the score I went with too.

I got that Min Hwan sent the text, but I don't get why Park Seung Jae didn't appear as a ghost. He called Yeo Ri before the meet-up because he wanted her to know what was happening; why would that change? And why wouldn't his ghost appear to her when, as a person, he had interacted numerous times with her? Min Hwan sending a text wouldn't preclude Park Seung Jae appearing as a ghost any more than the florist's dead brother calling her prevented him (the florist) from appearing as a ghost. It just doesn't make sense.

I don't feel we were given enough information about the necklace in the series to really grasp its significance. It's not that the information can't be extropulated from other sources, its that it wasn't provided in the show, which it should have been. That's sloppy writing.

This was mostly light and fun at first, even with the spooky aspect, but the writing has been so weak in the last several episodes that it has been a lot less fun than what we started with.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and the plot has been so all over the place that I could be wrong), but the necklace was supposed to keep away ghosts. If we had had ghosts in the last few episodes, we could have had a big moment when she got the necklace and they disappeared. Instead, we find out some weird mumbo jumbo about how she tampered with something she shouldn't have. Did the necklace enable her to do that? We aren't even told. And she gets a text rather than seeing a ghost when pulled to a vital crime scene? What in the fudgy cookies is that?

It's like they fired the writer after the 8th episode. . . . . . .

If she had been cured, it should have been a BIG deal. Instead, its been put on a backburner. And a ghost telling us something about with the woman with the woman with the 3% would have been helpful. Or even (especially) a ghost telling us about the art fraud situation. A murder wrapped up in there would be icing on the cake of putting an end to that branches endless scheming.

The best part of the preview is Gang Uk calling Grandma out on her nonsense and saying she's acting this way for her own peace of mind. I respect that she has her beliefs, but the shaman has been wrong before, and she should respect Gang Uk's feelings/decisions.

I was thinking the same thing. Why can't they find some useful ghosts who help them move the story along? Or at least some interesting ones. And Min Hwan is unhinged. I really wish they would drop that plot (obsessed and insane SML) from these dramas.

I think they are going for a lovable underdog story and he is certainly that. However, they should at least have kept him with the ability to see ghosts or given him another edge.

I can never understand the end game on these weirdo stalker SML/SMF. Do they really think the other person will ever love them?

This episode was irritating. The family drama is getting boring and the best part of the tale )(the ghost story lines) was missing.
