i really hope the screenwriter can change a few things:the ending near the novel’s end, someone says: “会摇橹吗?可愿渡我一程”…
i think liu yuning mentioned before that actors accepted the script based on the first 10 ep. anything after that, they didn’t really know how it would turn out. whether the second half go downhill or end as a HE or BE, nobody knows yet but I’m sure TCJ and LYX will share their own opinions when the time comes.
I respect your review and like some of your insights but you don't have to compare them with other drama. Different…
Nah. I get that they’re different storylines, but I honestly don’t see HMHxTSY chemistry being as strong as the other two. Sometimes you don’t even need touching, hugs, or fluffy moments to feel chemistry, you can see it through the way characters talk, act, and deliver their lines, and that just isn’t coming through here.
The storyline makes it worse. Sorry, but it feels very cliche. The characters aren’t well written, and even though HMH and TSY are good actors, they can’t save a weak script.

i respect your opinion. if the novel were originally meant to have a true BE, like XQS genuinely sacrificing himself or being beheaded for real, i think I would’ve accepted it more easily. but knowing that he’s actually alive and reunites with NY makes me wish i could see more of their interactions afterward. the whole story is already heartbreaking, I just want to see XQS live a his life with the person he loves. theres no wrong with the story being BE, but reuniting them at the very end without showing anything more is something my heart just can’t take. it reminds me of LGIEF, i thought i finally get to see Miaomiao reunite with Musheng in real life, but no, they just cut there 😭
and since romance is part of the story, i don’t see any harm in adding a bit of fluff and warmth to XSA's storyline. honestly, her death doesn’t impact the main plot that much, it’s just “realistic,” like yes, she lures the enemies away and dies. but she’s well-trained in martial arts, so i don’t see why she has to die. an alternative ending wouldn’t hurt at all.
i just finished the novel...fingers crossed the drama doesn’t follow it too closely. it’s good, but way too…
i really hope the screenwriter can change a few things:
the ending near the novel’s end, someone says: “会摇橹吗?可愿渡我一程” (“do you know how to row? would you be willing to ferry me across?”). and earlier, it was hinted that ZYH could save the ML but at the cost of memory loss and unable to see NY forever. this final line is exactly what XQS once said to NY when he chose to save her. i’m really hoping the drama gives us a proper HE, show the reunion clearly instead of ending ambiguously… or worse, killing off the ML, or both leads.
sixth sister’s death girl deserved so much better. she’s my favorite character after the main leads, strong-willed, righteous, and constantly growing. she lost PY, yet still carried out his wishes after his death. throughout her journey, she protected others, fought, and matured. and just when she was about to hear the truth from ZQS, she died. the regret of the siblings never clearing things up is heartbreaking. even if she can reunite with PY in death (though i was high-key shipping her with XZ), i really hope the drama changes this. since ZYC is only a guest role anyway, they might as well give her a chance at a new love and a proper HE.
ZYH's ending i didn’t like him much at the beginning, i could already sense he wasn’t the person NY believed him to be. but at the most crucial moment, he saved ZQS, and that made me waver. was his death really necessary to build the ending? he dies, and NY suffers again, it feels excessive. why not just let him disappear instead?
i just finished the novel...fingers crossed the drama doesn’t follow it too closely. it’s good, but way too much suffering for both leads. they seriously deserve a HE. 😭✨
Personally, i feel that one is just a character written based on the script, while the other has transmigrated into the story.
For the FL, its understandably frustrating as she doesnt want to follow the original plot, but the storyline is still pushing forward as scripted. Similar to LGIEF, where Esther had no choice but to follow the novel plot regardless of her intentions. The FL has already skimmed through the “script”, so her fear of the ML is there as shes afraid of reaching the same tragic ending.
This fear leads to the ML believing she is a spy, especially in ep 3/4, when she brings up the weapon forgery manual. From his POV, her actions are suspicious. He even tries to walk away from her, but the mysterious force (story plot) pulls them to kiss, which only increases his suspicion. Wanting to kill her is not totally unjustified from his perspective, especially considering his background. His character is written to be cold and ruthless, having been thrown into the cold palace and later banished to guard Youcheng for three years. He only returned to the capital because of the 2nd ML. So, no, ML definitely not a saint.
Of course, its frustrating to watch the lack of progress in their relationship. You cant expect the FL to suddenly sympathize with someone who tried to kill her (in both the original and revised scripts). Likewise, you cant expect the ML to fall for her out of nowhere.
But thats where the ML’s second persona comes in to change the plot. This revised storyline likely started because the ML’s agent requested a change in Nan Feng’s scenes. So technically, the FL has transmigrated into the revised script, not the original one.
My friend, thats him in the novel. The drama depicts his personality exactly the way as he is. If you follow the…
Yes for the main lead story, it is quite true to the novel. However, the drama added some other twist to the story like unnecessary 2nd lead love story, the annoying intern (oh he wasnt that annoying in the novel) Im not sure why FF runs longer than HL as the novel is around the same amount of chapters so im guessing they are adding more stuff to solidify the background story and relationship?
My only issue so far is that Sang Yan in this show isn't the same character we saw in Hidden Love, even though…
My friend, thats him in the novel. The drama depicts his personality exactly the way as he is. If you follow the author’s work, it was mentioned that this 2 story are shown in the different perspective of the FL. So HL’s stans need to stop it with this theory that this is not victor ma SY cos he is just a side character to DJX and SZ love story while in his own life, thats literally him.
This story might be remake of Chu Qiao's life before Princess Agent, maybe there is a hint of romance but i think it focuses more growth, maturity and the hardships along the way.
Again, different POV. HL is from SZ's POV, FF is WYF's POV. So the SY is different in the 2 story, 1 is the loud brother of SZ, cos many of us view our brother as loud and annoying. But WYF view SY as SY, so he is more charismatic, handsome and quiet. Also, FF followed the original plot whereby SZ and DJX age gap is 8 years. HL was narrowed down to 5 years.
Wen Yifan Is so closed up. It’s just painful to watch her . And man Sang Yan’s personality has been changed…
Hmm SY is actually a cold and quiet guy as compared to DJX. just that in HL which is in SZ's perspective, SY is loud and unserious guy. And in his own story and in WYF's perspective, this is the SY she know.
The storyline makes it worse. Sorry, but it feels very cliche. The characters aren’t well written, and even though HMH and TSY are good actors, they can’t save a weak script.
