I mean one of my fav kdrama scenes is when they hold hands under the table in Something in the Rain, it still gives butterflies, you can build strong intimacy without kissing but it has to feel deserved and earned. It has to feel like the intimacy is there because they literally can't shy away from it anymore. Literally watched a cdrama the other day and the first time they held hands was 30 hours in and I squealed because the build up to physical intimacy was SO good. In contrast, in this drama since she's already pregnant, you're starting off at a different point so the director has to make intentional choices so the audience understands that these two ppl love each other.

Have you met any 26 yos? Most of them don't have toddlers dropped into their lives overnight.

The character has had about 0.02 seconds to adjust to like five massive life altering shifts. It hasn't even been a month since the story started.

This is true for pretty much every actor in this drama, it's borderline alarming.

They referred to a plotline like that in the first or second episode when the brother is trying to call the ML

An actual slog that ruined my Valentine’s Day 🫠 why they ruined a good concept and excellent acting with terrible terrible plot and pacing I don’t understand. They should have just cut the last story line, removed the second couple and explained some things with that time bc what was that ending??

Honestly the last five episodes were just the writer edging us towards the end and I’m still baffled by the last episode. Who wrote this show?? Genuinely idk if they know how plot works.

Just went through your watch list - I'd recommend Love between Lines (26'), Love in the Clouds (25'), the Double (24') and Legend of the Female General (24').

Unfortunately for me, life as we know it is a piece of media I love DEARLY and so I will be sat for this show. Every single week sat.

My deep deep love for Chen Xiag Xu and Wang Yu Wen will not allow me to rate this lower than a 7.5 but....the plot, the direction, the editing....my god it's giving Youtube webdrama circa 2014.

Yes let’s not judge the dynamics of how women are treated by our 2026 standards but judge EVERYTHING else through a 2026 lens to make the ML palatable to a modern audience and so we don’t actively hate him.

It’s totally accurate that a conquering warlord would treat the opposing citizens with respect and courtesy and not pillage its resources especially when his own ppl are starving. That’s not weird at all but when it comes to how the ML treats his wife, it’s just women who need to endure trauma porn. This is totally a 100% faithful adaptation of how life was hundreds of years ago and NOT a drama made for a modern audience who is and will judge it through their perspective. That’s ludicrous.

I’m really struggling to understand these reviews bc this series is such a HARD DNF for me after epi 7 where he STRANGLES his wife and she apologizes for to him for “causing him to do it”. I cannot, I really really cannot.

The ending of this show is bad even outside of the reason most ppl are upset with it, so this cool smart accomplished woman gets married, everyone she knows leaves the capital and she just sits around waiting for him to come home from the war?? What kind of happily ever after is that?

It’s just visuals of her haunting his large empty manor for multiple seasons alone waiting for him. Why did I watch 40, FOURTY episodes of her kicking ass and taking names for her to turn into some little lady with nothing to do except be someone’s wife. It’s like once the central plot is resolved the writers have no idea what to do with her so she finally has her own character arc of turning into the ghost she was supposed to be all along.

Genuinely which show are you talking about, the entire third episode is him watching her overwork herself to the ground bc he put the blame of the formula leaking on her which is why the secretary is making fun of him in the elevator. When does he ask her to go home and rest? After he's worked her into the ground??

She literally ended up in the hospital because of the work he put on her and he spent that time childishly fighting with the SML.

This is giving old school 2016 KDrama - super toxic ML CEO who’s overworking the hell out of his female employee bc of jealously even though they’re not dating, FL just a hot emotional passive aggressive mess bc of toxic family, toxic mom that’s probably going to be redeemed at the last minute even though the entire series is a show and tell of why she doesn’t deserve it and a super annoying “friend” SML who “has always been in love with the FL but never confessed his feelings”. I just rather rewatch Something about 1% tbh.

Yeah that’s a no from me dawg. I don’t care that it’s less toxic than any other adaption. There has to be some redemption of the ML here to make it worth it for me and I feel like all I’m see is emotional and physical abuse of women. Men too, but specially the female lead.
