They're not really separated completely. They'll meet together in Germany and be sitting in the plane coming back...in ep 34, so only one more episode (33) in which they don't see each other.

I don't think its a fake friendship. A real friendship is a sincere one wishing that each otger can be happy w/o selfishness. If JX and SYC were already broken and their relationship was beyond repair and both decided to move on, then letting a friend and someone who one cared to move on and be happy would be the most noble feeling out there😉
