I still don’t understand the whole hate against JL from her family. Is it just a cliche that it follows Cinderella with the evil step-mother and 2 step-sister but in this case 1 step-sister and 1 cousin?
Did I miss something or is it really just pure evil/hatred that the step-mother has because she doesn’t want JL to outshine and take over the household? I mean if JL gets married she would leave the household anyways as per traditional Chinese culture (wife follows to husband’s family). So why so much work when eventually JL will marry XH?
I get the back story of her ex-husband and the connects in a palace but I really don’t get the crap at home, especially when everyone at home are beyond stupid 🙄 except the grandmother but even with her she doesn’t want to push her authority.
