glad to see some sane comments about this whole thing. i agree that criticizing something like that is important and with koreas history of representation in kdrama especially. honestly this doesn't just go for kdrama and representation, korea in general is unbelievably far behind in terms of things like feminism, lgbt+ awareness and global cultural awareness. that's unfortunately the plight of a highly conservative and mainly monocultural/homogeneous country... and naturally that ignorance reflects in media. (if only kdrama watchers would sometimes educate themselves on the country that produces the content they so love, but hey cant expect that from everyone i guess.) but people are obviously blowing this out of proportion and going way too far with the constant ratings bombing and literally harassing the actors on insta. there is nuance to be had here because finding a flaw in a drama's production and still viewing the drama itself in terms of overall plot and narrative objectively/separately are two things that CAN and should coexist. sadly "nuance" is a word in not many people's dictionary here on the internet.
Currently watching “the big 3” ( King The Land, See you in my 19th life and Revenant ). They’re all good…
i also think this is a lot better than business proposal, especially when you compare the male leads. maybe it helps that i'm a lot more into Junho's acting than i am into Ahn Hyo Seop's. KTL also has some more meat to its narrative because it's actually trying to say some important things regarding emotional labor and being taken for granted at the workplace. business proposal was definitely a riot to watch, but when it comes to the romance and characterization KTL definitely takes the cake, it's got me by the throat <3
