Season 2 would be nice...
even with all the schedules of the main cast for next year, I'm still foolishly hoping for it to happen 😭

Some of the best sci fi movies/series EVER made are very slow, thats one of the charms of it. Slow, atmospheric…
yeah I mean you're not wrong, "attention span is short these days" is something adults like to say all the time now but it's really not incorrect in itself. a lot of entertainment has become about being flashy, quick, and easily palatable for people to consume just to make even more of it in the process, and kdrama isn't exempt from that obviously. it's a shame people don't know how to appreciate an artful and genre wise experimental project like the silent sea.

Its pretty interesting (and sad) how MDL has changed over the years. This is Gong Yoo's big comeback to dramaland…
Glad you noticed this, because it's what I observed with some other, (especially the popular) dramas on here. One of my favorite dramas, which was overall incredibly well received both critically and among the korean public as well as the kdrama fandom outside of MDL, just has one of the most toxic/negative comment sections on the whole site. It feels like there has been an influx of unwarranted hate comments under the disguise of ~constructive criticism~, people completely missing the point of a genre/story/character, borderline misogynism (this one isn't anything particularly new but yeah..), sometimes all of these in one. And most of the people posting these haven't even finished the drama. People have gone from appreciating the good things about a show and critizing things healthily to having to nitpick about every little thing that doesn't suit their own preferences. A very strong (and immature) "I personally didn't like this so it must be objectively bad"-kind of sentiment has creeped into the community here, and I have only been on MDL for about two years but it's definitely not always been this bad. And that's really sad.

lol most people saying this show was bad bc it's "slow" clearly have never watched anything in the sci-fi genre..

the way the comments are so insensitive towards the issue.. this isnt about your unnie. there are some very real and very important problems with the show and most i-fans don't even have the nerve to read up/educate themselves on the matter and instead justify the backlash as "ppl hating on jisoo/bp bc they dont want her to suceed" lmao take off your kpop stan goggles and listen to what some actual koreans are saying about this. this isn't the place to talk above koreans who know their own history and the issues surrounding historical distortion better than any of us. just because k-drama is global does not change the fact that the way dramas are received by the domestic audience is still the most important. this is a korean drama, made in korea, by koreans, primarily for koreans. do not act like you know better. you don't.

Okay so I watched two episodes only but...what kind of awful female lead is that?! I hate the way she speaks and…
99% of female characters are garbage? Lmao I'm sorry I don't know if you're exaggerating or serious? So what about the men? What about the toxic, pushy, badly written male leads out there? There's just as many if not more. What a nice double standard you have. Women in media are always held up to impossible standards, they just can't win. It's always so ironic to me how most drama watchers are female yet it is the female characters who always get shit on, get called bitches, annoying and whiny for sometimes merely just having a personality, like in this case (judging a character based on the literal first two episodes is also just nonsense tbh?). And lots of who actually are, are because they exist as plot devices for the male characters' narrative. Because they're poorly written since surprise: they are still less prioritized than male characters (why? there's a magic word that might come to your mind and it starts with S.) Meanwhile a male character is high-key acting possessive, straight up rude or out of line but gets away with it or even called "swoonworthy" and "hot" for it. Does no one ever think about the implications this has? Does no one ever think about why we, the female audiences, hate on female characters so much? This is a topic that especially the drama fanbase needs to self-reflect on a lot, lot more.

I had to drop this drama because I couldn't find a site to watch it at anymore. I think I stopped at around ep 75, can anyone spoil me what happens for the rest of the show? I only know Clark and Leah get married at the end (obviously), but I'd like to know what happened in between :p

Summary for all comments:Basically you might like it or not, depends on your comedic taste (do you like slapstick?)…
^^^^^ This. People go into the show expecting it to be only one thing and then come here complaining that it's bad, when they just completely missed the point of the entire show. Some dramas just aren't catered to everyone. Despite how popular it is, I do feel liked it's sort of an acquired taste. It's not made for people who are very 'traditional' in their taste and are super black and white with what they want in a drama. But to be fair, I think we need more of these kinds of shows 🤭

Is it worth watching?
Absolutely. Don't let yourself get swayed by the comments. If you're a fan of the genres + a good slow-burn romance, give it a try!

A lil' help needed here~ I've only seen Yang Yang's other drama Love o2o and also Accidentally in Love but that was years ago. They were pretty cute albeit a bit campy, but in comparison to kdrama I wasn't impressed with the overall quality, when it comes to cliches, tropes, plot etc. in the romcom genre. Are cdrama usually like this? Saw that this one here was really popular and since I liked Yang Yang I was wondering if I should give it a try. Or are there any other dramas better fit to recommend to someone who usually only watches kdrama? (but no wuxia or anything, since i'm not big on historical stuff)
