FINALLY ITS COMFIRMED <33 there's been reports here and there regarding the filming site so I knew it was gonna come eventually but now it's set in stone. Pretty sure SJK is gonna be there, I don't think they'd confirm the 2nd season if he wasn't gonna be in it - he's the main character after all.
or maybe he didnt set out what he tried to do as well as he wanted to. knowing his other dramas i can see exactly…
It didn't really, if you understand korean most korean news sites talked about the dramas message, how it's supposed to serve catharsis, etc. in their articles, the writer said it in an interview too. Koreans at least understood it pretty well. It's not all too hard to comprehend the show is very satirical in how it deals with themes like corruption, hence it being described as "black comedy" a lot. You just need enough media literacy (which is a thing most people on the internet don't have these days) to realize it. Other than that, it shouldn't revolve around being satirical /only/, it it did that it wouldn't be half as good. It's many genres at once, it often gets dark and then lighthearted very quickly or in the same scene at once. It's just a drama of a lot of extremes and many people just couldn't handle that.
What with Netflix and their obsession with dark drama... Thank good we still have domestic broadcaster that give…
i'm hoping that some of the upcoming netflix original series that are more lighthearted in their themes will garner just as much attention but tbh it's not looking like they will :x
it's likely due to the squid game hype since, iirc, it's the first original drama to come out after squid game released so people who got interested in kdrama were checking it out
god she was so lovely in dali and gamjatang, instantly became one of my fav actresses. i had no idea she was in other shows i have already seen, and some that i'm still planning to watch, i'm definitely gonna look out for her from now on 😍
I'm not sure I particularly want to see any more of Gi Hoon. But I would be very interested in a prequel that…
It would be a nice idea for sure but that ultimately would have nothing to do with the original show or its purpose anymore. Let's be real, most of the reason why the show was so popular is the crazy death games and not including those in any way in a new season wouldn't really make any sense on Netflix's end.
Hasn't the director/screenwriter mentioned he had no plans for a second season before? Why do I feel like he got lowkey talked into it by Netflix. I mean, doing a second season for such a globally successful show like Squid Game just seems /way/ too good of a cash-making opportunity for Netflix execs to miss out on..
