Definitely a rage bait show unless you binge it like those chinese short dramas
REVIEW UP UNTIL EP11:it was interesting until the script was just frustrating to watch… its just annoying when the fl is supposed to be this strong bodyguard but when it comes to defending herself she’s so weak and the choices she (and everyone in this show lol) makes is just plain stupid.
its basically rage bait atp.
i enjoyed the show until she left the village- like genuinely, i was entertained. but if i haven’t watched this much of it i would’ve just dropped it. i would recommend this only if you’re bored and looking for something to binge.
after she went back to the main house it just went downhill. like the script is just so BAD. like when they tried firing people and just idk trying to keep people out of the house- why aren’t the locks changed. why aren’t doors just locked in general. this example of the bad script is just one of so many. OH AND SOMEONE TELL ME WHY the fl always puts herself in such bad situations. it’s happened so many times and SHE FAILS LIKE EVERY TIME?! HELLO?!
i’m just so frustrated atp every single thing is making me crash out. can’t even bother writing a proper review lol
EDIT (AFTER WATCHING FINAL EP):
idk if its cuz the show is over.... but its not that bad... HEAR ME OUT
so it was all part of the plan. that's okay. i see now why the script for the end of ep11 is written how its written. if only i binged this whole show, then i'd prob rate this show higher (maybe like an 8/10).
i enjoyed this ending. it definitely felt a tiny bit rushed but i don't mind it that much. it was funny and lighthearted (after the court scene) and i enjoyed seeing baek hyeji and lee don's storylines. not sure what the point of the time skip was tbh like it felt like it had no purpose other than for the fl and ml get together. and idk the show isn't centered on romance and the only times it was shown was when the mc was in muchang with the ml and ig a tiny bit when he went to go see her in seoul. but like idk it just felt a bit rushed and i feel like the kiss scene was just rushed. instead of the time skip, i would've preferred if the mc just moved straight to muchang lol but whatever. i have beef with some parts of the script so one more wouldn't hurt.
as for the actors, tbh i started watching this cuz of jinyoung (fine shyt) and jeon yeobeen cuz i recently watched our movie and it literally changed the trajectory of my life. jinyoung's acting was okay... i saw no faults and it wasn't spectacular yk it was just alright. and jeon yeobeen was good too. idk what else to say about her acting tho cuz her character is supposed to be this tsundere who is indifferent to everything until she moves to muchang. and she portrayed it well. there were times where i was like iffy about the acting but i'll just blame it on the script cuz it was questionable at times lol. i def stayed for joo hyun young (baek hyeji) she's so fun! i liked her since wooyoungwoo but her character in this show was interesting too it was fun watching her act in this.
anyway, its a fun watch just don't think too much into things and try not to stop during cliffhangers lol
overall: 7.5/10

The epitome of a melodrama DONE RIGHT
Classic melodrama done absolutely perfectly. The angst and anticipation of how everything will pan out was executed flawlessly.Funnily enough, I loved how the ending progressed. Usually in melodramas I enjoy feeling the devastation (bawling my eyes out and all that) but surprisingly, I loved how calm and genuine the ending was since they didn't show Daeum's death. IMO, they wrapped the drama up beautifully.
The small details were all so meticulously written! I am just in awe of Namkoong Min and Jeon Yeo Been. 10/10 drama for sure.

A really good youth/slice of life/romance drama
The drama mainly centers around teen/highschool friendship, rather romance (since they're pretty young most of the drama lol). I really liked YT and QX's storyline with the "right person wrong time" trope- they're so cute tgt. At some points it started to get a little out of hand though- like wydm he ghosted her for how many years and they reconnected like it was nothing (well not really but ygm) and wdym it happened TWICE. Like come on now... where's the resentment, the anger, like how come YT was so understanding. I feel like YT could've held a larger grudge. But its a drama so I get it.Some characters pmo (mainly QX's MOM OMG) but it played a huge role in the overall plot so its ok. The girl friend (YY) in the first few episodes also pmo but its wtv- her character development was... okay idk actually she was still pmo towards the end when she didn't want to tell YT that QX was in HK- but she I liked her in terms of her romance line (or lack thereof) with YQ.
Took off a few points for the plot just because I didn't like the time skip to when QX was in HK. Felt like it was way too sudden.
I really liked ZJM and ZLH in this drama. Loved how big of a contrast this is (modern drama) to the princess royal (historical).

Law drama with a side of slow-burn romance
A great legal/slice-of-life drama that I thoroughly enjoyed. The pacing of the drama was great. There's no big surprises or anything in the drama, but it was overall a pleasant watch. I liked how each episode had a case of its own and that there was no over-the-top romance to take away from the law theme of the show. All the cases were interesting and tapped into a lot of important real-life scenarios. The main characters were written and casted perfectly. Yun Seok Hun and Kang Hyo Min were always sensible and realistic- with every action justified- which is very rare to see in dramas. I think that's what made the drama really fun to watch.
The script is quite romantic and I really enjoyed that. However, its not romance between the MCs. Rather, it focuses on the different types of romance (i.e. between family, etc.) and between the other side characters, If you're looking for a law drama with obvious romance between the leads, this is not for you. But if you're into small, heart-fluttering moments that come as a slow-burn, definitely give this drama a watch!
The ending was done really nicely and I was surprised to see a lot of moments between the two leads. I thought they were going to progress and show more but I'm glad that they didn't. The MCs are very reserved, calm, and mature. Adding more would've made them seem very out of character. In the last few lines of the drama, there was a bit of reflection on the topic of love, which they never came to a definite conclusion. This kind of mirrors their relationship and its almost like they opened the ending so that there was a tiny consideration of the possibility of romance between the two. The slow burn was done impeccably. The actors executed it so well you could basically see the progression of their bond together- starting with admiration, growing to mutual respect, and progressed to a deeper understanding of each other.
The only reason why I'm giving this drama only an 8.5 is because I'm probably never watching it again lol. This drama isn't exactly what I gravitate towards (as I'm a big romance enjoyer) but I chose it since I was looking for a new drama to binge. The 8.5 is really just a personal bias (I apologize). I'd probably rewatch short scenes from the drama but I wouldn't take 12 hours of my time to watch it again- just my opinion!!
I still really enjoyed watching it and I would say they nailed law theme and the slow burn. (maybe if i'm feeling like it, i'll come and give it a higher rating lol)
Jung Chae Yeon is an amazing (and pretty) actress!!

a hard watch
def not a drama i recommend. the plot is just terrible and sml and sfl (if they're even considered that lol) were pmo so much i wanted to stop watching (can't believe i finished it). like why did it take so long for the ml to find out that the children were his. and why did they add the ties between the fl's dad and the ml's dad like it made it so twisted and to be introduced that late into the drama?! this did not need to be 30 eps long.the acting job was um... giving me second hand embarrassment.
i would not recommend whatsoever.
just wanted to put this out there to justify my 2/10 (and not 1 or 0 lol): if this was summarized on tiktok or youtube shorts i'd eat this up. however, this being a whole 30 ep drama (with the worst plot) and me taking time out of my day to watch this is just not it.

One of the best sports dramas I've watched!
The drama had a very satisfying ending and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish! It's a fun, inspirational drama with an impeccable cast.Wasn't sure if I was gonna like it in the beginning since I'm more of a romance/slice of life enjoyer and this was more sports and teamwork heavy. But I was surprised to say the least! The characters were well developed (fav character Mun Ung- he's so cute!), the romance was there but not too prevalent, and the relationships and teamwork between all the characters... *chef's kiss*.
Giving this drama a 9.5/10 just because I felt like it was missing a bit of "oompf" i.e. that cherry on top. I would've loved if they included Ju Ga-ram's revenge arc. i.e. tell the reporters the real reason behind his doping scandal etc. I understand that, of course, the main people who needed to know were the ones from the highschool. But it would've been so much more satisfying if they revealed his condition to everyone who hated on him.
I also would've preferred if they didn't focus too much on the shooting team lol. Like it was great, with Bae I-ji and Seo U-jin and all, and since one of the main villains was the shooting coach, its understandable that the shooting characters would have mroe focus. But I feel like since they showed that much, there should've been more plot afterwards- like the big coach and Seo U-jin scenario... then what? Like there could've been more ygm. Or, if they just didn't put too much focus on the shooting team, and just added more rugby team scenes, then it would've be perfect.
Other than that, the drama is great! I for sure recommend! So fun and so inspirational. Definitely watch even if you're not that into sports dramas. You'll surely fall in love with the rugby team and Ju Ga-ram!!

PEAKEST OF PEAK DRAMAS
ugh so good. towards the end i cried every episode or wtv...thought it was a little slow at first but you gotta trust the process. loved the different storylines and cinematography. def going on my list of 10/10 dramas. gives you a new perspective on life- whether you're a daughter, granddaughter, mother, grandmother... ugh such a peak drama

Action-packed, fun, found-family-esque drama
Slow progression in the first two episodes (I'll admit, I fast-forwarded a ton- dare I say, I barely watched it lol) but the plot does pick up and it becomes super interesting and action filled as the drama progresses.I thoroughly enjoyed watching this drama the plot was interesting throughout and kept me entertained the whole time. I would say the wait for the two episodes each week was worth it!
As for the villain part of the drama and the ending... Sullivan's ending was a bit anti-climatic lol. I expected a bit more but it just died down pretty tamely. His character was not bad tho. He's a "calm" villain, rather than a psycho crazy one so that aspect made the drama unlike others. But I think because of this, his motive for the bombs were a bit inconsistent like you want justice for your daughter who got caught in a power play thing but like um wdym you just want to bomb up a town that you were born and abandoned in... It's just a bit confusing and its never explained well enough.
Anyway, it's still a good drama so because of the Sullivan stuff, I'm giving it an 8.5/10.
Side note: Na Eunjae pmo LOL like her character was so dumb and unserious like girl calm down now like you were technically the start of the problem to the whole bombing stuff like girl what
They teased us a bit with a few elements signalling to a second season so I hope that's the case!

Coming of age drama with lots of hidden messages. A fun, easy watch.
I honestly enjoyed this drama. It was an easy watch and it was fun watching all the SF members. The characters and acting in the drama were all entertaining. Overall, it was not bad at all!Its not a romance heavy drama which I enjoyed. And it explored a lot about the main character, U Yeon, understanding herself and the people around her, and gaining confidence to speak up about her feelings and likes/dislikes. The drama starts off pretty simple and you would think that its just a simple, straightforward, cliche teen drama. However, there was a lot of hidden messages and the main characters actually had a lot of depth to them once the drama progresses. We see different sides of the characters and its honestly pretty refreshing to see how well the drama showcases it all.
I enjoyed watching the adult SF members and wished their characters were explored more but they did well for a 12 episode drama. It was entertaining to watch the different perspectives within the drama. That is, young highschool students, university students, and adults. I LOVED how this theme was explored within the drama. It was done so well and meticulously. Oh and I also particularly liked Nam Gi Jeong's character. He was fun to watch and idk he was just written very well. What a loverboy ahha.
Speaking of loverboy, Seon Ho and Geu Rin... THAT KISS IN THE LOUNGE ROOM (i think that's what it was called i don't exactly remember) WAS INSANE. It was SO unexpected. Like okay this is a teen romance drama calm down ToT. Anyway, I thought it was smart to have two different couples. The contrast was done really well. The other couples (or what could've been ig) were also portrayed really well. It made the drama a bit more realistic i.e. the difference in fights and misunderstandings between couples/people of different ages. Overall, the drama did really well in this aspect.
Okay, lastly, one thing I want to nitpick is the ending- hence the 7.5/10. It was so rushed. Like U Yeon's dad was FIRST shown in the end of ep 11 and he just stirs so many things up. And then in ep12, U Yeon introduces Gi Jeong to her parents, her dad chases after her and then what? Absolutely nothing. Her dad is shown to play such a big role in her family but its all just skipped and overlooked. I understand that showing U Yeon and her mom is more important since her mom is one of the main characters, but it just felt unfinished since we see no indication of how their family made up. Her dad also ends up doing a 180 and is doing housework?? Like its all just so random. And her brother? IDK there's just so many things I wished they added. Could've avoided all this by making it a 16 episode drama lol.

Chocolate making with *awkward* slow burn on the side.
A decent drama to binge watch. This drama just EXUDES awkwardness LOL. I don't necessarily mean it in a bad way, ig Han Hyo Joo's acting in this role was just perfectly exhibited. Both characters had lots of flaws to them but overall, the drama conveyed a good meaning and the mental illnesses that were included in the drama were well written and depicted.
In terms of the story, I particularly liked how we got to explore the production and stories that come with the different chocolates in the box. I was losing interest once the story shifted to centering around the company and the competition but its wtv since it was technically only the last episode.
My low-ish rating is mainly because its just not my cup of tea. I definitely thought I would enjoy it more before watching but the awkwardness and everything was just too much for my liking. But I see the appeal.
Also, the very last scene... It felt like Kentaro Sakaguchi and Song Joong-ki's appearances were just added to boost popularity lol they could've used those last few minutes of the drama for something else tbh

Calm and soothing slice-of-life drama with a found family trope
I was looking for a completed drama to binge watch and came across this one. Started with zero expectations and I was pleasantly surprised. The drama is very simple and healing, which I think is what made it stand out. The characters are all comforting in their own way and I liked how there was no villain/bad guy. I hate how some slice-of-life dramas are going particularly well and calming and suddenly there's a murder in the small town or something- they're so annoying. I'm glad this drama didn't have any situation like that. The story centres around a mother and her daughter's relationship. They have lots of arguments, misunderstandings, and make ups and this is captured in the first couple of episodes. It was very hectic, emotions running high, and just overall messy with a lot of things going on. But as the drama and plot progressed, it became a more calming, slow paced, and a bit melodramatic (which I enjoyed).
The small town setting of the drama gave amazing cinematography. It not only was well captured, it also added a healing atmosphere to the calmness of the drama.
I particularly liked Lee Ji An's character- it was crafted very well. Her personality and nature was well written, and Yeom Jung Ah executed it perfectly. I've never seen any of her work, but after this, I'll definitely watch some!
The drama also has two couples (as there are two female leads), so romance is also a big theme in this series. Hyori and Bo Hyeon's romance was... alright. I liked the idea of it but I think the execution was lacking a tiny bit. Don't get me wrong, Choi Yun Ji's acting was great. But Kim Min Kyu was pretty stiff throughout the whole show... I've watched a few dramas of his and I think he's just usually like this, but its just not my cup of tea. On the other hand, I really enjoyed Ryu Jeong Seok and Lee Ji An's romance. They were so cute and I loved how they were each others' first love. There were so many heart-fluttering and nostalgic scenes- in particular, when they were in high school.
I loved how they crafted every character in this drama. They all had so much depth to them and all of the actors/actresses executed them very well. I loved how we got to find out everyone's backstory as the drama progressed.
One downside of the plot would be the one year time skip. I feel like they could've done a lot better with that but the drama overall was great 9/10.
p.s. I really like Choi Yun Ji. She's so pretty and great at acting! I've only had a tiny glimpse of her in Resident Playbook so I hope to see more of her work!! Oh and Yeom Jung Ah too!

An alright binge.
It was alright. I definitely wasn't hooked when I started the drama but it was an alright binge.I think the villains and characters were pretty well crafted but the plot just dragged on way too much. Like it was kindof obvious who the main villain is since the start of the drama and it just kept dragging on SO MUCH. Also, it was so frustrating when the fl or the ml would just put themselves in such a bad situation. Like just bring backup??? Is it ever that hard?!?!
Second thing, I know this isn't a romance drama but there was def romance between Ji Ha Na and Yoon Dong Ju. But it was done pretty poorly imo. There was just no "oompf". Like he was just crushing on her this whole time and idk I just wish there was just a bit more to it. And it was like they just added the kiss scenes in there just to add "chemistry"... it wasn't really working tho. Don't get me wrong, I really like Park Bo Gum and Kim So Hyun. But it just wasn't doing it for me idk.
The saving grace for this drama was definitely the OST. It was SO good. The cast was pretty great too. I enjoyed watching the olympic avengers lol.

Cute and easygoing drama.
A fun, light-hearted drama to watch if you're looking to binge. Nothing much to say other than its enjoyable and uncomplicated. There's definitely moments that I particularly liked- that I'll most likely rewatch again... but in terms of the whole thing, I feel like its a "good once, not good twice" type of drama. At the second watch, I'll for sure be more nitpicky so just this once (and so I'm giving it an 7.5) is okay with me.Its definitely a simple drama so if you're looking for more depth and complexity... you probably won't like this drama.

IGNORE THE HATERS THIS IS GAS
If you're thinking of starting this drama but saw the low ratings, START THIS DRAMA. Don't let the low ratings stop you. It's definitely underrated. The first hate train is probably because of the plot but I think that's very surface level thinking (please don't hate me lol). The viewers just need to understand that the story is based on women who both had difficult lives and made choices they believed was the best for them at the time. And the plot centres around the fate tying both of them together and navigating through the choices they made. They are not perfect people, and that's okay.
The second hate train is most likely about the ending and I'm not saying that the viewers are wrong and I completely disagree... but read my review below first lol.
Onto my review:
Overall, I enjoyed all the episodes, from start to finish. Waiting for the episodes each week was a pain but it was all worth it in the end. I would say that I'm somewhat satisfied with the ending. It definitely was a tad bit rushed IMO but they I guess managed to tie everything together so I'm not completely mad about it. Both Jeong Hee and Yeong Rye's wishes came true, and their friendship now stronger than ever. I did wish that they made this a 16 episode drama instead so we could get more of the story post Miss Korea finale, but with 12 episodes, they did well. Instead of the wedding, I would've preferred more of Jeong Hee and Yeong Rye (and Jae Pil) since they didn't show a proper conversation between them (especially since the last one between YR and JH was literally JH crashing out on YR lol).
The pacing of the drama was not the worst- the first half during the bus days and a time skip for the second half. I enjoyed both settings and I thought the time skip was done well. However, I wish there was just a little more between JH and YR before the one year time skip though. Just one conversation or anything. Don't get me wrong, the one year time skip was alright- I liked how we saw both girls achieving their dreams and them still being great friends. But this one minor detail just made it feel like the ending was missing a teeny tiny something (hence the 9.5/10).
That all being said, the ending still isn't the worst IMO because of YR's speech during the Miss Korea finale. It held a lot of significance and meaning, and was the perfect response to JH's confession about her difficulties and envy towards YR's life. When YR was saying all of that, JH's facial expression was definitely showing exactly what we wanted to see- understanding and a possibility of reconciliation between the two- since YR was saying exactly what JH wanted to hear. It's like they were finishing their conversation from that night on the stage. And I while I wished for a proper make up conversation between YR and JH, this was enough. The viewers are probably mad because of JH's regret for not verbally saying that she's sorry to YR, and therefore projecting JH's regret into the ending being bad. But I just want to say, even if they did have a convo after YR got better, what more was there to say? These two already know each other SO WELL no words are needed to be said since they understand each other anyway. Conversation or not, they're staying friends for life lol.
The choice of actors and their acting were all great too. Kim Da Mi was superb (and pretty) like usual and Shin Ye Eun too! Heo Nam Jun (fine shyt) was good too idk why people thought his acting was bad. Everyone was great at acting- I was invested during the whole drama so I saw no flaws.
Last thing to note, and I'm going to reiterate this, so please keep in mind that THIS IS A DRAMA ABOUT FRIENDSHIP. People complaining about someone stealing their friend's boyfriend or dreams are crazy. Let me just put this out there: Just because they want the same guy or the path to achieving their respective dreams are the same, is it really necessary for one of them to back down? Two words, fair play. Just compete, easy as that. See where his heart lies- that girl wins. See who the judges pick- that girl wins. Let nature take its course, that way, there are no hard feelings and both of them can just be genuinely happy for each other. (JH and YR get it... why couldn't the viewers?)
p.s. Our underdog Jeong Hyeon. What a green flag. I wish nothing but the best for this fictional character.
p.p.s. The real winner of this drama: Sang Cheol. Walking away from the love triangle was definitely the best decision- seeing how happy he is lol.
p.p.p.s. Yeong Sik and Jeong Hee... I clocked it since she went over to their house the first time. Wish we got a tiny bit more than the one second of hand holding tho lol.
Plot rant:
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD
Like okay, I get it. It definitely was insane that JH went and got with JP when she knew YR had feelings for him first but like he was interested in her so I don't see why that is a problem- since both of the girls liked him. And when the time skip happened, JH was out of the picture for SEVEN WHOLE YEARS like come on now... I don't see why JP can't like YR. I mean him and YR hang out all the time. Its been SO long his feelings for JH are gone why does it matter. YR was never a potential love interest for him in the beginning, but she is now. "Oh but YR can't be with him since JH and him had something" let's be real they weren't even dating (not a kiss or nothing) and she liked him for over seven years- who cares about JH! Both of them didn't even know if JH was going to come back so why does it matter.
However, when JH came back and asked YR to help her get back with JP... that was crazy work. But kudos to YR for setting it straight with JH (I did wish she said that seven years ago tho). I understand JH though. She had to leave her life behind and try to survive and now, coming back and seeing people from your past again... I mean, I would be longing for everything back too! But seeing how cozy your friend is your ex and then asking her to help get him back... yea... no. She needed that reality check.
As for the Miss Korea thing- YR "stealing" JH's dream? YR had NO IDEA JH was participating but even so, why can't she compete? Her dream is to attend university and JH's dream is to be Miss Korea, the path might intersect but why does someone have to back down just because their friend wants it too? Like bffr. And JH joining the contest because she found out YR was competing? LOL who gaf. She was given the opportunity, why can't she take it.
THE JAE PIL HATE??!! My man did nothing wrong. JP liked JH and therefore never considered YR a love interest in the beginning. Jae Pil's feelings towards YR in the beginning was like YR's to Jeong Hyeon. She just never considered Jeong Hyeon as a potential love interest. AND THAT'S FINE. And SEVEN WHOLE YEARS LATER he likes YR. Boo hoo its been seven years get over it lol. When JH came back into the picture its not like his feelings for YR was wavering. He just never went for YR because of how precious she was as his friend. But he got a reality check when Jeong Hyeon approached him and said he'll steal her away if he continues wavering. And so JP went to get the girl. Its as simple as that.
anyway thanks for reading my review <3

Keep your expectations low and stay for the main couple.
Legend of the Female General was one of my most anticipated cdramas- I waited around a year for this drama... So, as you can imagine, my expectations were very high (despite not reading the novel before). I'm someone who enjoys dramas with a strong fl so that's why I waited so long, watching each episode whenever it comes out etc.Now the review:
There were definitely a lot of plot holes, and unnecessary deaths that could've very much been avoided. But other than that, I would say that its a pretty good drama(?)- I'm not about to take off points just because of a few characters and plot lines.
The war/battle scenes were good but I am a teeny tiny bit disappointed. I would've preferred more quality and less quantity.
Can't believe it was possible for me to hate a character this much but Chu Zhao pissed me off until the very last episode... He Rufei and Xu Jing Fu didn't even make me this mad. Chu Zhao's appearance was so much more frequent that the main couple and it was so annoying lol. There was way too much focus on his character, background, and just anything he was doing. It felt like they were just trying to fill up time and using him to add (unnecessary) drama. His appearances just caused too much disturbance and messed up the flow of the plot a lot. Anyways, I would say the villains lacked depth and it was pretty messy since something would happen and eventually during the "revenge" (ig) they would just be thrown to jail or die- which is pretty underwhelming. They were very 2D and not convincing as a real "villain" ig.
I wish there was more to the ending. I binged the six episodes that came out today and I was shocked to see how much of it was just with the Emperor and in battles. The wedding and all was okay like I understand it was a hurdle for them since it wasn't approved but I just hoped there was a tiny bit more after or just anything. It took them too long to be officially together, and since I really enjoyed this couple, I was a bit let down by the ending.
Despite all the negative things I said, I would still give it a 9.5 since I still found it really enjoyable. The drama had my full attention and had me waiting for the new episodes every day. Makes me kind of sad that it's over tbh. If you're thinking of watching, I would say: keep your expectations low and stay for the main couple.
Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei had great chemistry and I really enjoyed them together for this drama. Hopefully they have another one together soon. Both their acting was superb. I couldn't imagine anyone else as Xiao Jue and He Yan.
