from her soft smiles to detached expressions to the awkwardness she has around others from years of pushing people away...she could've easily given off main character syndrome but she does it so gracefully

while I'd agree for a number of other dramas, the pacing of this one is actually super justified wrt the upcoming plot especially considering that the main antagonist hasn't been introduced properly yet

re-reading the novel after almost 2 years and seeing wen yifan fawn over sang yan's dimple makes me wish they would have included that detail in the drama..bai jing ting is amazing as sang yan but it'd be so fun if that little detail was included

in the novel, she actually brings it up with sang yan much much later as a joke, i don't think SY noticed before that though

if the drama continues to follow the novels flow of events, one of the most pivotal scenes actually takes place in yihe as a follow up to the hidden love part where sang yan visits zhi in college and finds out about her and jiaxu

I get your moral obligation to point out the age difference but theres a number of things to remember
- at the time of filming, the actors were 19 and 28 which, while agreeably not being an ideal age gap is not crossing any boundaries. the legal age of consent in most asian countries is between 13-18 and she was a consenting adult when she filmed this. as far as looking like a teenager goes, i can tell from personal experience that you can be of college age and still look like a child- i looked no older than 15 for most of my college years. the ml also doesn't look particularly old especially in a context where romance is nowhere the main focus of this drama.
- with regard to their drama ages as well, a 20 year old isn't too far from graduation and the ml had very recently started a job so they weren't really very far apart in age and two adults of that age dating is simply not a big deal especially when the only thing they ever showed to happen was a small kiss in the last episode..

coming into this with super high expectations cus i lovedlovedloved the novel and did not disappoint! im not big on cdramas so this is my first run with bai jing ting, any other good modern cdramas of his to check out?

all aside, it was so refreshing to see cha woomin in such a lovely role after seeing him on study group for the past month- jeonghu is an absolute sweetheart and i love that they didnt try to set up a second ml situation for him

whats pissing me off more than the continuous push and pull between the leads is the choppy editing..can they pls finish a scene and give us context and/or closure ffs
wdym YS's mom was at a temple ranting about her son and a love interest for her fell from the sky? and whatever happened to esther after she found her husband cheating? did no one proof watch the edited episodes?

I'm fully aware that the number of episodes in FBC are far less than GA and the flow can't be replicated for that reason, but for me the that natural flow of events in GA was the best part. Everything happened in a realistic way with plot and emotional developments taking their time. FBC's pacing just seems off especially compared to GA..I wish we had more time to understand their emotions and the plot progression..

i've tried really hard to not judge any of the participants on the show cus contrary to dramas, these are real multi dimensional people and we're only shown a small, edited version of them but seeing how even the other participants have their doubts about yw, everything other viewers have analysed abt him seems right. he only seems to be there for the clout and a long format show like this was not the right choice for him, def wouldve been better off on a singles inferno sort of show...

i cant help but sympathise with js, he treated the starting of the show like dating program and he wanted to feel out his relationship with everyone. his biggest problem is his lack of communication skills which are honestly super fitting with his work background and as someone in a similar setting i can confirm most guys of this type are just terrible at talking rather than bad people

and like how in 2024, does dispatch see a guy and girl hanging out and assume they're dating..it couldve just been a situationship 😭

the last 2 episodes were a definite stride in the right direction and it seems like they might be able to save this show after all...my biggest issue rn is the inconsistency of their characters. if inha was always a socio-psychopath who was bound to exploit their 'friendship', why did he act the way he acted to taeoh? there was always something off about him, but to the point of murder? i don't rly get it..
also what caused such a sudden change in taeoh? with how cool headed his character was built, i don't think anyone was expecting the switch to a lovesick puppy-i was convinced he would leave when kang inju threatened to hurt hyewon...no matter how much he liked her, she was a married woman and inha should've protected her..
also, as a sidenote, i can see heeju joining forces with taeoh and hyewon or the whole point of building a possible love-line vaishes

this isn't really my preferred genre but i chose to give it a go cus of jaewook and jun but lord is the writing messy..the characters all seem poorly written and it seem as though the writer was trying to write morally grey characters and just ended up with messy ones instead
the love triangle is so unnecessary and i cant make out anyone's intentions, especially inha cus taeoh and inha have definitely known each other long enough for something like an inferiority complex to not drive a wedge between them. also hyewons painful lack of personality needs to have an explanation in the second part which tbh i'm only gonna watch for jaewook and to see if this writing is salvageable

yes, no one forced you to watch this and i couldnt care less if you watched it or not...but theres so many actually valid reasons to drop a drama and you choose to cus the actor playing the ml is dating? hilarious. this is why fans of asian content get so much shit from locals..
