Honestly this show has been a letdown or just not at its best since ep 10.. (Quick moment in 10,11&12 with VP…
What scenes specifically were lost from the novel? Sexual scenes? I might consider reading the novel if it’s that much better, but not if the “goods scenes” are only sexual.
Very very cute but why do i feel like the creators of this show and cherry magic are secretly slightly homophobic?…
I wouldn’t say homophobic in like an “I hate hate gay people” kind of way— perhaps literally phobic though. I mean East Asia isn’t know for its openness to queer people, so sometimes it’s understandable for the lack of super expressive sexualities. But the title, as you said, literally implies that they’d kiss more than once or under different circumstances than the one kiss. With a lot of the queer releases in Asia over the past while, most of them have been blah because of unrealistic aspects or like this lack of intimacy simply because they’re too afraid to have two queer characters kiss or even express realistic feelings. It’s like— it’s okay for you to broadcast two intimate queer people. You don’t have to pass your fear off as shyness in the characters every single time. I don’t know maybe I’m too North American and don’t understand the taboo around “difficult” topics and discussions.
I like the series overall but it started to drag around episode 5. They relied too much on unnecessary flashbacks.…
I agree on both points. After Naoya didn’t win the highest prize in that lucky draw, I was like “YES, explore his failing luck and actually talk about it— DRAMA DRAMA” but that didn’t happen and was ignored. Like why add it if it’s not going to be discussed or cause some realistic strain on the characters?
As for the point about kissing, I agree. I don’t need kissing in a drama. I believe — know— that people can love each other without intimacy. But when possible discomforts with intimacy or like, in some cases, signs of asexuality/aromanticism, are passed off as just being shy? No. Especially when neither character is even wondering or questioning “why don’t you/I want to kiss?”.
I get your disappointment about Amber not being trans. Especially because of how rare specifically ftm trans characters…
Thanks for bringing me a new point of view. I still think that they could have dived more into that and the journey of that discovery instead of the whole romance though. It just didn’t feel like it fit into the story and was instead some random excuse they used for why Amber had to leave and for shock effect. I would’ve loved to see a story about his discovery as a child and how he changed over time. It doesn’t fit here at all to me, and that makes me not like the drama much. Also, I realize that the drama wasn’t about what I mentioned, it just points that out because of how much Amber changed.
I still don't understand the low rating for this show????? I love it. The guy who plays Amber is a great actor.…
I like the acting, but the plot in the episodes I’m watching is questionable. And it’s not what I expected with Amber’s condition. I thought he was going to be trans.
I really thought they were going to give us some trans representation here. Instead it kind of highlighted how differently boys and girls are raised :/. I didn’t like the line of “I had to learn how to be a real man.” What does that even mean….Strange plot.
The initial idea was good but the whole thing was a mess. That's the problem with such short episodes... The main…
I don’t think I’ll be watching the series, like many of the recent kdramas that have aired of the past year. Thanks for the honest comment.
Your mentioning of Bada accepting Tommy back after him leaving for a year makes me laugh at Shuyi accepting Shide after him having left for 5 years, though that was expanded and explained more.
Ah I really want to watch this, but with proper subs. I’ll have to wait until then ;/
Thank you for the response. I think I’ll wait until it’s properly subbed (if ever) because I don’t tend to like to watch long series twice over and want to understand it if I do end up watching it.
Normally, I don't find these types of stories believable. Because when I see the male lead dressed as a woman…
Sounds like an internal issue on the basis of expected femininity and masculinity. Because in the real world, appearance ≠ gender. But I suppose it’s different in these cases, because the characters are only crossdressing and not expressing their genders differently.
this show had SO MUCH potential from the actual summary and idea of the plot,, arranged marriage and they slowly…
It’s definitely not one of the worst that I’ve seen, it’s just really boring. The acting is ok to me. I’ve seen way worse acting. Otherwise, it’s not romanticizing toxic shit, so that’s a plus.
