it had potential
This series was so promising, but it was so poorly written.
Every female character was atrocious. I’m sorry, but even granny was annoying in the beginning. The GL side couple (I assume that’s what they were going for with them) were terrible, and the acting was just…I have no words. For the last few episodes I fast forwarded through any scenes with them, they were unwatchable (especially the younger girl - I nearly quit the show because of her).
The constant attacks on the village were more annoying than shocking. It was predictable and poorly executed. The whole mafia/land drama was so badly written. I cannot be plainer than that.
I do think the only thing they got right was Yo’s character progression and growth. The writers and (of course) really did do well with Yo; which makes it sad that it was so wasted. Jom and Yo jumping into a relationship so quickly without almost any growth or change on Jom’s side felt weak and empty. When they got together everything was so empty and fast; they have chemistry but it just felt like it hadn’t evolved enough on Jom’s side, so his feelings for Yo seemed hollow to me as a viewer. The final episode felt so convoluted and forced on Jom’s side, because we saw absolutely no progression or growth from him in terms of his relationship with Yo and it was just such a waste. Jom’s reaction to being broken up with was so odd; he’d barely acted like he even liked Yo, even when they were dating. Again, this is the poor writing - we didn’t get to see Jom fall in love, we only saw Yo.
I’m so sad, because both Saint and Poom are great and they have chemistry and I think they did their best with the writing, but this was a miss. I do, however, hope that we get to see this pairing again in the future!
