Loved her since "My Sunshine". I wouldn't be invested in that loveline if I didn't see her…
This so much. She's the real sunshine in that drama. I had to keep reminding myself that the adult version played by Tang Yan is the same Mo Sheng that I love since she just doesn't have the same charm
This was a good detective story which was produced really well. Up until the very end the viewers are kept totally…
I sort of agree. Basically the having-no-emotion part is a justification for a necessary heroic character's trait; just, firm, etc. If he has no such condition people would deem him boring because characters like him are so prevalent in fiction, and unrelatable for because his sense of justice is devoid of normal human flaw. This way, he *is* supposed to be unrelatable. But yeah, I don't think it's necessary to the story that it's a medical condition. I thought we were going to have a twist with Kim Jung Bon because he's the only one with any link to this subplot, and bring it to a full circle in some way, alas we got none.
From the same production team as Soratobu Taiya (but now with ikemen as leads), I'm in. Hopefully subbed.
Good to hear, I expected it to at least be decent, after all it's a child resulted form WOWOW x Jun Ikeido x Maekawa Youichi 3-some xD. Thanks for the heads up ^^
No doubt one of the most entertaining and meaningful show I've seen this year. Indeed the last arc rather comes out of the blue, but I think it helps solidify the quartet's bond and pushes the show and its characters to some sort of conclusion.
Definitely the best crime Kdrama I've watched in term of complexity of the cases, although I prefer TEN for its variation of themes. The cases here are a bit similar with one another ; the criminal commits the crime for revenge (or other 'noble' purpose) and has a tragic backstory, while ofc the ultimate big bad are the greedy cowardly rich fellas (except the second to last case which is why it's my fave). I appreciate the show for not trying to justify the crime, but I feel like they're not judged as harshly either. I'm also on the fence about the ending since it was strong in concept but lacking in execution. There's several logical course of action that the protagonist could take to avoid the final grim result but the show completely ignored them and shoe-horned their actions so that it can end with a bang.
A whopping 70 eps. Cdramas nowadays are growing larger and larger in number of eps. Trailer looks good, hopefully the content is also as good and the huge number of eps works in favor of the show. Finger-crossed!
can someone spoil this for me... im quite interested in the ending but not interested enough to have to go through…
After Yuri found out about Mayuko and Naomi's affair she almost kill Naomi in his sleep mostly because in her mind Naomi is hers and the thought of something that is hers being taken by Mayuko is unbearable to her. In the end she couldn't do it and just talked to both Mayuko and Naomi separately to break up which both of them refused and then he left the house. Not to mention Mayuko seemed to actually have genuine feelings toward Naomi but she's just too broken at that point. Yuri felt like she was cornered (and she had been living on the edge since forever due to her obsessive and envious nature toward Mayuko), she attempted a murder-suicide with Mayuko. In the end Yuri died and Mayuko is in vegetative stage (she's awake but can't move an inch) and being taken care of by Naomi.
Why the discouraging comments lol. Sure this show has flaws like plot conveniences, characters share similar personality traits with one another (ruthless, wicked, selfish, smart-mouthed, etc (which can be a plus for those who like these kind of characters, and each character does have distinct motive and nuance)), and the performance from four leads is sort of lacking. BUT those flaws don't really take the fun out of this show, which is mostly contributed by interesting dynamic among the characters, ever-changing and balanced power game, and sharp dialogues. At least that's how it is so far. And I don't see the need to mention other shows as comparison, if anything they are all flawed the same xD
The highlight of this drama is definitely the relationship between the mangaka and his editor, so earnest and pure and passionate about the things they love, yet it was precisely because of their 'pureness' they're able to do twisted things.
The good:
- The story. It's a powerful story about the flaw of educational system and its elements when it comes to bullying, and redemption for those whose action causes the death of other.
- It shows teacher's POV in regards to bullying.
- Great characters development. Combined with good storytelling so I feel like I grow together with the characters not just watching them from afar.
- It's a good psychological mystery; at first it presented a set of situations as the truth, then as the show went on you began to question whether things are what they seem.
The bad:
- Overwrought as hell. Feels like it's gunning for sensational effect more than realism.
- There's some plot conveniences and cheesy af moments.
- The ending derailed from whatever the show build in the previous eps.
A simple and honest portrayal of grey side of human psyche. Basically it's about loan shark business and its clients. In this show everyone is on the wrong side of the law so it's pretty much dog eats dog world. It's dark but they add a good dose of dry humor in between so it helps to reduce the bleak vibe and make it more quirky instead. There are lots of social commentaries here but it never gets preachy or imposing, and as a drama it was entertaining even tho I feel like a sadist for saying it. One of the subplots featured sex industry workers so there are lots of half-naked girls here but personally I don't find them distracting.
It's a great character study, how Mayuko is consumed by vengeance and Yuri is consumed by envy, both end up losing their humanity. The plot itself is very second-rate though, since even when the characters are intriguing the show never makes them do anything interesting. In fact this show is at its best when it does flashback scenes and explores what made the characters who they are now. The acting made it watchable, but it's the directing that captivates me the most. It's calming even in its most disturbing moment, yet there's an unsettling mood throughout the show even in its most normal moment, maybe because we know something abnormal is constantly going on within these characters. The cinematography is pretty but it looks dead at the same time, I don't know if it's intentional or not. The scores are haunting and beautiful. It's a show that pleases your senses even when the content supposed to disturb your conscience.
Edit: the one on netflix is the sequel, not this one.
