this guy played a 4th year college student in 2004, a father with a 5 yo son in 2005, and then a highschooler in 2010 xD

Decent angsty coming-of-age drama with indie vibes. The characters' behavior, action, and reaction to things are breathtakingly realistic. I like how the teenagers behave likes real teenagers; awkwardly and recklessly going through life, having no idea how to handle the difficult situations they found themselves in, it's easy for them to feel like they've been driven to the corner, then end up making bad choices as a result. This gem tackled lots of extreme real life issues from date rape, drug abuse, juvenile crime, suicide, debts, student-teacher relationship, etc. Even though I do appreciate how it neither glossed over them nor milked them more than necessary, I wish it had chosen fewer subjects to handle then explore their potential rather than trying to tackle everything. More episodes would probably work too. I found myself wanting to see more of this and that character' struggle and development rather than just the glimpses they showed. Also it would make the whole idea felt more natural, since they did cram these problematic people as friends or acquaintances to one another.

This show is not just about the angst, they have lighthearted and comic relief moments too. It's those moments that highlights the characters' endearing quality. I ended up adoring most of them very much <3

Kanae Minato's works fit well with surreal and eerie portrayal. Just like Confessions, this drama could easily turn into a makjang fest if not for the directing choice. The ending can be a miss for some but for me it's a hit. It fits the show's theme really well. Oh, and Ando Sakura's acting here is AMAZING.

Secondary couple is the only thing worth anything in this drama

This drama, I think, is about love. The longing for it, the inability to give and perceive it, the things people do because of its absence, and the things they do inspite of its presence. Setsuko was abused and grew up damaged and bounded to be chained by her ugly fate, given twisted yet warm love by a broken man, and finally had a chance to heal by meeting people whose life mirrored her.
It is beautifully portrayed and the setting is almost surreal at times. It's a quiet drama with stories and emotions conveyed in those quiet moments. Downside is, sometimes I have difficulty in following the characters' motivation, and other times the dialogues are almost devoid of normal conversation, like they're there just to make the point. Also the protagonist practically did two murders and received no consequences for it? Lastly I think I need to put some warning that there are some explicit portrayal of women and children abuse here.

Interesting concept turns to be a rather plain fugitive drama, featuring misunderstood underdog protagonists vs evil rich powerful people. The show lacks depth; the thing about living in the forest far from any concept of normal society, the first time the kid comes to civilization, the mental burden on the dad's part. I guess this is another case of me judging a drama for what it is not rather than what it is. As a fugitive drama I think it's not that bad, it did have its suspenseful moments.

Neither the case nor the villain is anything new but it's still well-written and has depth. The show is elevated with movie-caliber execution; from epic shots to well-built atmosphere to portrayal of minor characters to micro emotions and interactions. Acting is also very natural and comfortable. Overall recommended show.

This is the first drama I've ever watched where the most selfish ones, the ones who did the most wrong, the ones who went and trampled everyone's genuine love and concerns, are no other than the two leads. It's the kind of infidelity drama that is particularly hard to watch because the husband is very kind and he loves his wife sincerely, and it's not like the wife is secretly suffering or anything; it was a moderately happy little family, and yet the wife is... she just couldn't control herself I guess. Acting is this drama's strongest point, especially at the confrontation scene between the three leads, and confrontation between the husband and the wife at ep 7. It has some pretty cinematography too notably at flashback scenes. The ending involves a deus ex machina, cheap trick to get the wife somehow redeemed and reach a conclusion. Overall 8/10 from me.

Very haunting. The characters are trapped in a kind of darkness that drives them mad. I think that's the theme of this excellent collection of short stories; guilt, a haunting darkness.

I love Kaname Jun's sinister looks at the scene where he talks to his victim. So cold and riddled with madness. Simply fascinating.
