since it's asadora, I think they're gonna pick the safe route, and focused more on character development. At least that's how it was in Yae no Sakura. You dropped it before?

I think it was handled pretty well, though they did play it safe and didn't dwell too deep on it. Started from her brother telling her to study Bible because it teaches people to forgive enemies (and it's important because Yae's clan had lose the war, and that very people who crushed them are now running the country). Then she met Nijima Joe, helped each other getting through difficulties, found common goals, then they got married. And since Yae decided to support Joe, she converted to Christianity. There's no leap of faith or anything, more like concept of God (or monotheism?) is something totally new to her. There's no talk about her previous belief either or how accepting Christianity meant she denied her previous belief. From the way I see it, it's because she believed Christianity is something good, she adopted it without much difficulty
this show is a compilation of stories with different leads for each story. So everybody is the lead, just for several episodes for each, tho. That's why you get so many main roles at the cast list
Mostly this drama consisted of dialogue and alteration of one scene to the next without specific plot to deliver but more dialogue, as if to maintain the natural flow of real life. It tried not to be as contrived as possible, but as a result it struggled to make some character development and move the plot.
I like it though. Most of all I love Kase Ryo's character. The parents' meddling can be overboard and the female lead can be a little difficult; but its mood, rawness, and honesty make this an exceptional drama.
I used to think it's predictable too. Why else was that particular character and his family got that much focus and screentime when they seemed to have nothing much to do with the case. Then I think about the ending and I can imagine how out of the blue it would be, and lacking in emotional punch, if they were out of the picture like they should had been. It has interesting and layered story to tell, good storytelling, great acting and directing, but somehow I don't find anything truly special, like its big idea or the journey of its characters, so it only got 8.5/10 from me. Still a recommended watch though
This is actually really good. I had no expectation despite the high rating because Tonbi didn't really impress me, so I was surprised by how good this turned out to be. My heart breaks for Nii-yan and Toshiko
My thought on the ending was bitter sweet. But in fact I can make at least 5 different interpretation about the…
Yeah,.I was banking my theory on the fact that this time Jung Woo didn't have reason to go back in time since he did turn himself in and all. So there's no reason he would be dying in Nepal this time around. But then again he still killed his father and his mother still lost her mind so yeah Jung Woo still have reasons to want to fix his past I guess. And maybe since he 2nd Sun Woo knows that he would die if he time traveled in 2013, he decided to time travel in 2031 instead and rather than cancelling his Dad's death, he was cancelling Jung Woo's death in Nepal.
I still don't think the last eps is the prequel of the first since this time around things are different; no brain tumor, no going-to-Nepal-to-retrieve-dead-brother
Great start, then it hit a melodrama bump (seriously the whole scene that lead Sun Woo's dad to his demise was kinda laughable), then it dragged a bit (or maybe not, it just dealt with the romance thingy which I have no interest with so it felt draggy for me), but at least it has a pretty satisfying ending.

But in the young Sun Woo's timeline, his brother didn't die in 2011. I think it was just one of many parallel world that could happen. Just like there's a world where Sun Woo grew up without ever meeting the future Sun Woo, and there's a world where he did. So in one of those parallel worlds, there's one where Sun Woo for some reason traveled back in time in 2031. Just my two cents.
I kind of want to watch this drama but I'm afraid it'll be another melodrama focusing too much on Wallace's 'good…
don't worry, it focused more on the heroine family's life during the time period, and Wallace's character is just one of them. His character is also more low-key here compared to his other top-rated dramas. This is a character-driven drama and it worked for the best because it has one of the best ensemble of characters in dramaland; realistic, flawed, and endearing at the same time.
A sweeping and epic tale about survival, honor, and power struggle. What amazes me is how it doesn't shy away from the complications and 'dumb'ness of history and the people who built it, resulting authentic stories and authentic characters.
Unfortunately there're some deliberate overacting here and there, glaring over-idolization of Kanbee, also I can't sit well with the depiction of several antagonists as despicable trash just to make blood boils. And it has some awkward dragging dramatic scenes (which gladly disappear in the last 15 eps or so).
