I want to try this but I just can't get over the chaebol thing... I don't care if it's realistic in South Korea…
ah, I know, but there's some chaebol machination involved, no? at least in the first episode I watch the main character works for a chaebol's family, didn't she? or maybe my interpretation of chaebol is wrong?
I was officially frustrated with the main character. Like, dude, c'mon she's shady af. He clearly felt it too but he was too busy being infatuated by her. Lol, men. Well she did make a fascinating villain though.
I would give it a big fat 10 too if it's not because of Nijima Joe. It was hard to root for his cause; which I remain unconvinced whether he did it for Japan or for missionary's cause. Especially when it was the driving point of the second biggest arc of Yae's life, it made the whole thing felt underwhelming. Perhaps since I was already soo invested with the whole Aizu clan (and actually everyone who directly and indirectly involved in Boshin War), the struggle about something that didn't have anything to do with it simply didn't resonate as much (like the problem with the school funding, the women's school and such), even tho they're equally important to the story. Not to mention by this point Yae became over the top; she was always the one who got to say the right thing.
Also, the episode when Yae met a girl whose father Yae killed in Aizu War wasn't handled really well. The episode when Hisae almost elope and another one when Yae visited Aizu. They just felt like unnecessary filler (which perhaps included to fit the required 50 eps)
Sooo gooood. The story sets in a very fascinating (and bitterly painful I bawled several times) time: the fall of an era and the rise of a new one. The characters are damn endearing with their damning bushi ways and it makes me care for the damning politic too. The directing, camerawork, setting colors are first class and the BGM is epic; it easily draws me in to the lives of the characters. My first taiga drama and I can't wait to watch another one!

I understand what the subber's trying to do but as a non English speaker the subtitles hurt my head. I failed to grasp the depth of the dialogue since I don't even understand half of what they're saying. And the two leads' acting makes me cringe especially when they're together in a scene it's simply laughable.
My gateway to the world of dramas. Truly, they had never made anything like this before, and never since. This will always be a 10 for me, flaws and all.
This is a rare thoughtfully-written rom-com like Love Shuffle and Saikou no Rikon. Maybe not the kind of what people think of rom-com, like no swoony or doki-doki moment at all, but it did have romance and comedy so let's say it's romcom lol. One thing I don't like is this writer has tendency to shove his(?) belief down your throat
The production value is so cheap, the heroine's hair keep changing its color and length (I seriously can't understand why they couldn't just stick to one wig, maybe it got messy in the dressing room and it's hard to find the same wig), also the setting (especially the palace setting) looks sooo fake I don't think they even try. The couple is real cute though, one of my fave lakorn couple
Eps 1-7 are must watch, fun and intriguing. Too bad can't say the same about the last arc. But the last ep is at least worth watching, if only as a testament of how fragile common moral standards are. And no matter how unrealistic the 'discussion' is, at least some students stay true to their character.
I noticed that this drama was rated really high, so I decided to watch it. Normally, there is not many historical…
Personally I don't think you should force yourself to watch something you don't enjoy. But if you have nothing better to do with your time then why not, I guess. Anyway, what do you like about The Myth? I'm trying to decide whether to watch that one or not
