just look at the fan interactions, with thousands of comments and a new one every few minutes, you can tell it's well loved. ratings don't rlly mean anything.. to me, im a harsh rater so anything above a 7.5 is worth watching and trying out to at least form my own opinion

Yes, it's VERY important to the plot imo BUT they don't really show much of it. The episode 1 scenes will by far be the longest they show a game. Also, as time passes, their time in the games will reflect their real lives in a way so it won't be too random.
