Title Hi Venus
Just started this and am loving it so far. It seemed so familiar, like the way the scenes are cut and put together, and then when the sound effects came up I immediately thought of The Day of Becoming You and noticed it's the same screenwriter AND director! Is this common in C-dramas? I really like the female lead, because she doesn't seem like a "try hard" if that makes sense... she's authentic which I like. And I loved her in TDBY I rewatched it twice.
On Summer Strike Feb 24, 2023
I watched it because it came out on Netflix and it's only 12 episodes so I said heck why not and just finished it all in a day and a half hahaha. It's such a perfect healing drama. I'd like to counter some negative opinions I've seen in the drama:
1. The character of the female lead. Seolhyun is a decent actress, and her character in the drama isn't the trendy female boss type everyone is into these days. She's shy and not able to speak her mind freely, which is why she ends up being the type to say "yes" inevitably. Like I said, she might not be a likable character to everyone, but that's just her character! It's her shy innocent charm that has the male lead get attached to her, along with other side characters in the village.
2. The "romance." I'll be honest, I didn't expect there to be literally nothing beyond holding hands (legit the last scene of the drama too LOL) and what-- maybe one hug? <- that doesn't even really count. It's very very slow in terms of "romance" but it reminds me of a puppy love where two people hiding pain deep in their hearts start over in the village. I guess this also applies to them in terms of love, because they reminded me of elementary school kids who are too shy to really do anything. It was still cute. :) And honestly, the things Siwan did for her because he cares for her... so sweet.
3. Episode 10. Yes, I was surprised at the sudden change in genre. I also cried with you all, and wondered where the lighthearted earlier episodes went. But it makes sense they added that in near the end, to wrap up the hidden conflict and bring about a conclusion to the pain of the main lead.
4. Annoying side characters. YES I highly disliked a lot of the side characters and so I did the only thing I could. I skipped their parts. HAHAHA right? Why watch a scene when you don't like it? It's most likely not super significant to the story, so I just focused on the two main leads and the grandma/female and male students.
The one thing I AM upset about though, is how they didn't settle the issue with the high school bullies. Being a victim and yet having such a strong individual personality deserves applause, but her perpetrators deserved punishment. That's all I'm going to say.
Overall, this was a super quick watch and made me smile quite often. 8/10 since I like the leads also hehe

I didn't even realize KYG had a new Netflix show so of course I immediately rushed to watch it. I did go in without high expectations because of everyone's reviews, but I knew what I was going to get into (lighting issues, mature content, odd order of events) and yes, I totally agree lol. The female lead was honestly harder to understand than the male lead (even knowing she has asperger's). Would not watch again, but some scenes were intense and had me somewhat hooked.

also, the male lead sounds JUST like actor sunghoon.
RIGHT! at first, I was like who does he remind me of? And then I realized and wow the epiphany hit me right in the face bc of how similar they are vocally.

This just came out today but I binged the whole thing.
It's hard to find a nice rom-com that is the perfect balance of light and heavy topics and I think this is it. The main aspect that got me hooked was the female lead's perspective on life (though I might be biased as a female myself) and how she despises the slightest hint of sexism in society, including her parents' relationship. The male lead really grew on me, and their relationship is so mature (makes sense, given their age lol) and they talk things out which is such a breath of fresh air honestly. The side characters are all charismatic as well, though I was hoping for our Money Heist: Korea couple to be the second couple. Something small but impactful was her relationship with her ex-boyfriend and now-colleague. It's really cute and I like how they didn't have a crazy fallout despite their crazy non-realistic breakup situation in the hotel hallway. They stay close and it's actually super cute how they care for each other.
All in all, this was super cute and thank you Netflix for releasing it all at once. I think it's a smart move... says the one who just likes to binge-watch everything hahaha.

I'm almost done so I think it's a good time to leave a review (not final, because who knows how the ending will…
okay he looked so familiar and I just looked it up. He played CHONG LIN from ETERNAL LOVE OF DREAM omg I thought he was SOOOO young in that drama how did he suddenly transform?!
On My Lethal Man Feb 8, 2023
I'm almost done so I think it's a good time to leave a review (not final, because who knows how the ending will change my opinion lol). I was very iffy about starting this because a lot of the comments talked about how they hate the female lead's character and how the plot is messy. I actually understand her "coward-like" personality when she first assumes a new identity. Who wouldn't?! I like how it went away quickly, and she was able to adjust pretty quickly, and play the lady boss role. I love how the main issue was her faking her identity (had me on the edge of my seat whenever she was about to get caught) but then that was completely taken care of halfway through. Like WHEW it was a breath of fresh air. Time to start over with a different problem hahaha. The male lead is just 🥵 With or without glasses, hair styled or not, casual clothing or business... he fits it all. I love how he gets so protective of her after he accepts his feelings (and also their relationship blossoms pretty early on), and the hugs where he's all worried and then filled with relief is so cute and warm! So far, this is actually a lot better than my expectations. The side characters are also cute in their own way (love how Tang Li wasn't a leech for too long haha) and the pace is honestly not bad at all. 8/10 for me. IDC what everyone else is saying. SO DECIDE FOR YOURSELF, DON'T LET OTHERS' OPINIONS SWAY YOU lol

edit: Last few episodes were not the best tbh... so i drop my rating to a 7.9/10 since I skipped through most of it. But nonetheless... still not as bad as everyone is saying

OKAY so real review.
I came into this drama with very high reviews.
The main aspect that kept me invested in this drama was the relationship between the two main leads. It's so incredibly mature and respectful. Their conversations are so pure (omg his CONFESSION scene by the water?! It was literally a poem.) and I love how they are honest with each other. It's not a heavy romantic drama so don't expect something like the main couple getting together in the first half. They make you wait ahhaha but personally that made it more special.
The focus is very distributed amongst a wide range of characters.
First, the children. OMG they're so adorable. I want to pinch their cheeks! I love how cute their conversations are, and how they try to solve little problems by themselves.
Then, for all the other villagers like the grandmas and the fellow guesthouse visitors, they each have their own problems. I'll be 100% honest, I didn't really focus on it a lot. I skipped through most of it, but mostly because I wanted to just get to the main couple. But based on comments, I think it's all interesting too.
All in all, it was cute. Nothing super serious, but also nothing surprising.
Rewatch value is not that high though, because there were some bland parts and no real scenes that would be edited as a clip on youtube if that makes sense.
Good cast, good music, good plot.

I didn't want to get my hopes up too high because I'm constantly disappointed, but again I will keep that all in mind. As for the MDL watchlist I just spent a day updating my whole list hahaha

Thank you for this long reply hahaha I appreciate it :) I will keep this all in mind as I watch and give it a shot. I'm not sure if you watched the Kdrama Hometown Cha Cha Cha but I heard the two are very very similar, and I can already see it in the beginning.

This was the end of probably one of the greatest dramas that were ever made. Don't know how long it would take…

On F4 Thailand: Boys over Flowers Jan 13, 2023
Just finished the whole thing in under two days and I must say, this is the best adaptation of the manga. This version still has some cringe-worthy moments, but it's nothing compared to the other adaptations. They also cut some unnecessary scenes and changed the order of the events (a little) but it wasn't all over the place and actually really easy to follow. I never could watch Thai dramas before, but I just had to after seeing a video of the two mains at some event (where Bright keeps staring at Tu Tontawan) and they were so beautiful (lol) I started and ended up binge watching the whole thing. I'm so glad I did. I was sick in bed and this helped me get through it :)
I loved this last episode. Everything was just so peaceful, in that the way things ended was done in a way where I don't have much regret. Especially the montage of every character's smiles at the end, it just made me tear up because it's officially the goodbye of the whole drama. After the ep9 ending I honestly believed none of the main characters died, so WHEW. I think the only "disappointment" would be that it was so short. I really love how the crown prince was actually on jang uk's team, i love how lady jin grew to accept happiness in her life, and most of all I love how naksu didn't disappear like everyone was dreading yesterday LOL. Though a lot of people are saying it was too rushed, I think the pace was well-matched with the number of episodes. I love the chemistry between season 2's main leads so much I can't stop watching their BTS and other clips. All in all, I loved this season and its characters. Well Done! 9.5/10 ❤️

Might as well watch part 1, it's one of the best shows. There is no need to rush to watch Part 2. You'd be confused…
i actually prefer part 2. and yes, i did finish both seasons already hahaha.
