it really depends what you came here looking for. obviously the mystery part starts at ep 10 but the drama can't rlly start then.

overall review: after watching the trailer i expected a 50/50 of a murder mystery/thriller and hot romance. i think the poor reviews are mainly due to these expectations. the drama starts off without either of these, and the one hot scene from the trailer is actually all there rlly is in the whole drama lol. also the mystery part doesn't happen until ep 10ish. so up til then it's really a normal romance drama. i saw someone say they dropped it at ep 10 hahhaa and now i know why. just don't go into this expecting some thrilling crime drama packed with all these different genres. it's just a simple drama that has a bit of a twist near the end. i actually liked how the drama is narrated by the omnipotent 3rd party throughout the drama to clarify some parts the audience might not understand.

other dramas ive watched release eng subs a lot more frequently :( i heard it's because this is a youku production and they dont have an international branch or something so it takes longer? idk ill volunteer to start one if that means more releases hahahaha

even when he showed disinterest though, you could tell the obvious warming up to her when they showed his slight smiles and acts of affection. i think his reserved character makes the tiniest things that much more important and noticeable to the audience

i just cannot wait for it to air. why am i hearing it's not as popular so the release date keeps getting pushed back?!?!?!

idk if you watched falling into your smile but i read the novel after finishing it and the ML character is so different in the novel too. so i think changing one's character accordingly would make sense... especially if the character is not popular among the audience.

hahaha i respect their opinion bc just like how we love the main characters, it's possible for some to like the second lead. maybe because the second female lead is pretty popular too, and some of her previous works have many fans. it's just the characters that are annoying a bit

i randomly saw ONE comment about someone who ships them and compiled clips on youtube or something and was asking ppl to go watch and i was like umm... does anyone really like them HAHAH that sounds mean so ill stop here lol

hahaha his total change in character was so amusing because it shows how much he was affected by her different attitude towards him. i kinda just want to stop and save the upcoming episodes but it's too tempting ugh

him leaving was so abrupt i was a bit confused and thought they cut something out. but i heard its just poor editing lol. i also love her change in attitude and now it's his turn to do the wooing lmao. it makes sense that they cut the kiss scene out, because it would be even more unbelievable that he left her. i legit just skip through the second lead's parts and really hope the subbers give us a gift and release eng subs at least a tiny tiny bit faster. or the occasional extra episode hahaha. but that being said, do you know how long he's been gone? it's hard to keep track of time in the drama..

okay yeah in tmopb his character was a lot more outgoing, as he was the one chasing after the female lead whereas here he's the one being "chased" (at least in the beginning). i think they show him like this to highlight the change in character because of esther. like how she is able to change him from the quiet business-only man to the more loving side, if that makes sense.

they tell us he's 25 but idk how old she's supposed to be in the drama. i saw someone say 12 but i think that's their real life age difference right? does anyone know.. im on ep 4 and i dont think they mentioned it yet

i am also only up to the eng subbed episodes but i am also in love with him. it's the subtle actions and face expressions that really bring out his true self behind the reserved character. maybe you prefer more outgoing characters who always express what they're feeling, but i personally think it's really charismatic of the ML to be a bit more complicated and not completely obvious.
