I think because the mortal arc currently is episodic with multiple arcs that resolved by itself in 2-3 episodes . This kind of episodic formula usually much more enjoyable if binged. Story progressed much slower but you get more interaction between FL, ML and SML.
Major plot arc still around TZ collecting artifacts. Technically we still climbing into Climax but slow and more bonding moment.

Demon was actually scary, they eating human, baby and weak spirits. They are ugly, have fangs all over the place and tails. Some of them carried disease, any mortal human will die if near them. But now Demons are just cool characters with slick black robe and edgy horn.
Spirit whatever kind they are but if things go haywire, they will never hesitate to murder a mortal human. Hence why Demon hunter do not forgive them. Only Buddha that can forgive them because they have tremendous power to change people mind and heart.
