I don't think Ao Xuan wanted to marry Yan Dan. I think Yu Mo wanted to safe Zhao Lan from this jerk Ao Xuan. My guess Ao Xuan have Yan Dan as a hostage or YD disguise as a bride and attacking Ao Xuan.
