Meng Ziyi is absolutely shining in this role! She's got me feeling all sorts of emotions and we've not got to the tragic part of her story yet. There's a sadness during moments when Wanyao is alone or with Chun Hua, when she can't sleep or on her balcony looking out. I care about Wanyao so much.

Some of Mu Wanyao's behaviour is not acceptable but we're gradually learning that's not all she is and why she might have become that way. Beneath her arrogant front, we can see a good and softer side. Look at how she treats Chun Hua (I am looking forward to discovering more of that relationship) and her guard, Fang Tong. When she saved and comforted Yan Sheng in the carriage. And how she took care of Feng Shu. We will learn about her tragic story. From the glimpses of her when alone or with Chun Hua, I already care about Wanyao a lot.
Entitlement I guess. Too many content make people less apprecive of creators s efforts
I have not seen so much criticism and hate until I followed cdrama. Some people lack respect and tolerance and set on bringing actresses/actors down if they don't like them. I think it's worse on Chinese social media.
My heart rate went up while watching ep 7! The suspense and tension.

Loved the scene in Wanyao's bedroom. BGM complimented it beautifully. I've concluded that Yan Shang's bedtime stories don't aid a restful sleep, but Wanyao likes it. The way they looked at each other. The tenderness in the way he stroked her hair and pulled the cover up before leaving. Something special is growing between them. They are indirectly sharing their inner thoughts and true self.
I accept that people have different opinions and will see what they see. But I don't understand why some people go to drama pages to repeat the same thing. And there are those who like to spread negativity or just hate. If some people are giving low ratings because they dislike Meng Ziyi or thinks she has played similar roles then they are the problem, not Meng Ziyi. A lot of hard work goes into making a drama and each deserves to be given a chance.
Some people see a couple of recent Meng Ziyi dramas (maybe not even completed it) and think that's all she is because they see similarity in themes or styling. But I don't share that view. There are differences and she has played a range of roles in a variety of dramas. And timing is a factor. Meng Ziyi's suspense drama "San Xian Mi Hui" finished filming before TSTR but not aired yet. And she is currently filming a modern drama "Endless Summers" (That page had moan posts before filming even started. That's what some people are like).
It's a beautiful drama to watch. Amazing visuals and cinematography. Appreciate the scenic filming locations. I also like the OST/BGM.

One of my favourite moments so far was (ep 3) in Lingnan forest when Yan Shang carried Wanyao. In her vulnerable state, we had a glimpse of the person beneath the tough exterior. There was a strong connection between them in that moment.
Watched episode 2 but am having a break before I resume. Story is building up with each episode. I'm committed to their journey. They're not together yet and there's already sprinkles of sugar. And when Yan Shang said "My heart suddenly skipped a beat"! Wanyao is in trouble (ahh Meng Ziyi!).
I was meant to write when I finished watching this a couple of weeks ago. I almost missed AtC because the trailer didn't appeal to me... but it turned out to be an amazing drama. Well done to the cast and crew, especially Tan Song Yun (first time I've seen her).
The first episode was so sad, I was crying and reaching for more tissues within 30mins. The drama covered a lot in 47 episodes with more detail at the start and time skips (a bit disorientating) towards the end.
I had difficulty forgiving Lin Jinqi for the forced marriage, even though he loved her and it meant she eventually found out where her family was. They had no shared interests and Lanxiang lost her freedom, forever duty bound in the Lin household. Although Lanxiang grew to love him, I don't think it was deep love. Romantic love wasn't as important to her as living well for herself and her parents, and enjoying simple things. She could have lived a good life outside.
AtC left me with conflicting emotions, but that's okay, I accept that. To me, it was Lanxiang's story of survival and the impact she had on others, to believe there can be a better way to live.
I can't believe this is actually coming, so excited. I'm keeping everything clear for TSTR. Looking forward to seeing Meng Ziyi as Mu Wanyao. Love her chemistry with Li Yunrui.
