Not only Cdramas, likewise for Kdramas... In Racket Boys (Kdrama) there is actually this health drink product placement, so the actors actually drank it and said it was good and look into the screen as well it was really an advertisement - then the other character ask who they are looking at. It was quite funny.
That is why sometimes I prefer period dramas, they can't place modern products in them.

The characters suddenly promoting some titbits being healthy , visiting the store etc... it is just so weird and irritating. I actually like it in YAMG as it is an actual advertisement (with the FL's bestie Pei Pei) slotted in, so I can just skip it without missing any part of the show.
