She probably got PS because she's not landing female lead roles (as a love interest) despite her years in the…
To @Vanterye who blocked me after replying to a comment I made 6 months ago, idk why tf you're denying that her PS resulted in her getting more leading lady type of roles now.
I've been a kdrama fan since 2003 so I witnessed how some actresses had to change the way they look (whether through weight loss, styling, or PS) just to fit the Korean beauty standards and land more roles.
You can continue to support her while also acknowledging that the harmful Korean beauty standards are affecting female celebrities like her.
You should eat your words now (: She will get even more projects in the future as the main lead!
Girl, your reading comprehension isn't that great, is it? I was talking pre-surgery as she wasn't adhering to Korean beauty standards. Are you that dumb?
Since you edited your comment: the keyword is "now." She's getting a leading lady type of role NOW after she got her PS and fit the Korean beauty standards more. Don't be delusional into thinking beauty standards have nothing to do with projects in South Korea--esp for female celebrities. I've been a kdrama fan since 2003 and there were so many cases in which actresses who were regarded as not pretty enough by Knetz changed the way they look (either through weight loss, styling change, or simply PS) to get more roles.
You can support her while acknowledging that Korea's harmful beauty standards affect many female celebrities like her.
"...the words indicate deception." lol And you know this because you are a full-time detective and forensic language…
Then don't. I'm a PR writer. I know if something is PR-driven because it appears in the tone. This is too raw. But you don't have to believe my expertise or her letter. You act like you know better anyway.
The problem is that she's a nobody outside of China. Only in China, she can make a living as an actress. If she…
She has a stable fanbase outside China. She's pretty popular in SEA countries. The problem is her whole life and career are established in China so why would she even leave her comfort zone (which may affect her mental health more)? Also, she'd be labelled as ungrateful in China if she would move to another country and build a career there. She might even get permanently blacklisted in c-ent. I doubt she would want her hard work to go down the drain.
I've been her fan since Oh My Emperor in 2018 (which I initially watched for XNINE). Over the years, I watched her take on low-budget dramas and supporting roles and amidst all that, there was still a smear campaign against her that she had a "backer" or someone influential who got her all those projects. She laughingly brushed it off back then but now that I know what's happening behind the scenes and how she got hit for getting rejected in an audition, that kind of smear campaign pisses me off more now. As a fan, I thought I could brush it off because Lusi herself did. But all the black marketing she experienced aside from the hate comments from cnetz (even when she got hospitalized, cnetz were saying it's just a publicity stunt and other actresses' fans were joking she should die) and the cruelty of her own studio contributed to her physical and mental health detoriating.
I know I can't do anything else but send her my love and support and maybe pray for her. But I wish she'd eventually leave her studio because even before this whole situation was exposed, we already knew how much her studio capitalized on her popularity but didn't take care of her. I also commend her for shedding light on the gravity of mental health issues and abuse celebrities like her may suffer off-camera. I hope Zhao Lusi only gets surrounded by people who truly care for her moving forward.
Till this day fans of someone call her green tea. I wonder if they like his problematic ass.
People who hate her would like anyone who doesn't like her too because he serves their agenda no matter how problematic he is. But also, it reflects how problematic those kind of other celebs' fans are.
You should eat your words now (: She will get even more projects in the future as the main lead!
Idc either way?? Her life doesn't affect mine. I'm just stating things as it is. Getting a PS made her fit the Korean beauty standards more. But it still made her face lose its uniqueness. Now, what? :)
The title is just being honest, there is indeed nothing to learn from Zhao Lusi.
You're everywhere insisting there's nothing to learn from her when the interview itself was pretty substantial if you can read and comprehend. If you don't like a celebrity, it's ok but there's no need to put them down bc who even are you in the first place? Lol
"If you're born into the lower class, how do you bravely face the world?"
I remember in one of her old interviews (?), she said something like this as well when she was asked about her success. She said (non-verbatim), "Luck plays an important part in people's lives. Not everyone is lucky enough to get a headstart and those who do have more chances of succeeding."
I just think it's nice to have an actress of her status recognizing the importance of privileges in how one's life plays out.
Because she has no duty to take care of him, no one should feel this burden just because she is in love and this…
Gu Yi knowingly pursued a relationship with an emotionally impaired man. While her feelings over rejection are valid, she should've known better than constantly pushing him. You're right, she's not a psychiatrist and should not just take care of him but if she can't handle her own emotions, she has no business starting a relationship with a man who can't even handle his own emotions. That's basically fighting fire with fire and irl, that causes more burden on people in this kind of circumstance. You can't help heal someone if you're breaking too and that's what's happening with Gu Yi. Irl if you get get into a relationship with a sick person knowingly, then the burden of responsibility falls upon you. Characters are supposed to be complex but not flat. Based on where the series is going, Gu Yi's character remains the same and Daiwen too and if they would follow the novel as is, then Gu Yi wouldn't actually have any growth until the end.
You nailed it - this is the issue. She is pretty much torturing him at this point. How can a relationship survive…
And her being desperate in every episode like GIRL STAND UP 😠Daiwen is sick and taking steps to get treated but she still makes everything about her own feelings. Yes, her feelings are also valid but since she willingly pursued him knowing his case, she should've known loving him would be painful and hard so why is she making him the bad guy?
You nailed it - this is the issue. She is pretty much torturing him at this point. How can a relationship survive…
Yeah, she's also losing herself because she's too fixated on the idea of having her feelings recriprocated in every way despite knowing he's having a hard time dealing with these new emotions she made him feel. I just think it's also wrong her on her part to willingly pursue a relationship with him then gets mad at him for not responding like normal people would.
Ugh. Thanks for mentioning she stays that way to the end (I mean that non-sarcastically, btw). I was considering…
Yeah, I was pretty disappointed when I finished the novel too. But up until the end, she remained self-absorbed while he was working on himself. So I've been thinking of dropping the drama.
I love Lin Yi and Shen Yue but Gu Yi is starting to piss me off. She obsessed over Daiwen despite knowing he has issues. Then she started acting like a therapist without knowing much about his case. Then everytime she gets her feelings hurt, she blames him. But she also keeps going back to him which just messes him up more because he can barely control the little emotions he has. Girl, please either back off totally if you can't handle his ups and downs or just stay with him through it all. Pick your poison.
Sure, Daiwen also has issues so I don't expect much from him but Gu Yi is self-absorbed and desperate. In the novel, she remained the same until the end so it's not a healing love for her. She was just happy her feelings got reciprocated.
I already finished the novel but watching it still pisses me off.
Its the same with most FL who get paired with older ML. Its not really about the age though. Sometimes its because…
No, I get that. What I'm talking about is his physical looks because he DOES look like a high school senior. So it's awkward seeing him with older women because he looks so young. Kim Soo Hyun and Lee Jong Suk (I Can Hear Your Voice with Lee Bo Young) were also pretty young when they got paired up with more mature women but it didn't look that awkward because they didn't look THAT young.
namjihyun is only 29. She's not an unnie compare to the FL of cinderella at 2am lols
Yeah I know but this guy looks so young. He looks more like a high school senior rather than a CEO/office worker (or basically look old enough to be in a relationship with an adult).
I don't understand why the summary says she is a... Talk show host? She is a stand up comedian, that is pretty…
I'm guessing it's probably a term more commonly used in China? Because I read the Chinese novel and they also refer to her as a talk show host rather than a stand up comedian.
