This could've been the perfect Mulan live action, but they had to ruin it.

Firstly, beware of danger. If you're a perfeccionist like me, you must be warned: this was at least a nine until the last two episodes happened. I remember feeling pissed. So, so pissed. Note that I finished this back in november 2025, but I was just so frustrated that it took all this time for me to finally feel like writing anything. Anyway, let's get down to it.

The drama's pacing is quite ideal. From the few first episodes you're easily hooked with good revenge plot, smart and competent female protagonist in disguise and great dynamics with the male protagonist, that initially suspects He Yan of being an enemy spy inside his army. He Yan being able to see through his tests and outsmart him was the highlight of the first part of the show, prior the gender reveal. Their back and forth banter had the right amount of fun and chemistry.

And what chemistry, btw! I was really glad the gender reveal wasn't dragged out, since it saved our ML's face a little. It's always awkward to watch scenes with a certain romantic connotation while one of the characters involved is still unaware of the others real genre. So, the fact he found out about her pretty soon in the story was a great set up to their relationship's build up...

Which also brings this back to the first point I made:

Their relationship was so natural and well developed. They went from friends to partners, then to confidants and finally to lovers. The chemistry was through the roof. AND THEN. All of a sudden, the writers decided to put one of the greatest romances of chinese dramaland in the trash bin and all it took was one stupid scene. If I were in He Yan's place, I would never ever forgive Xiao Yue. I wouldn't even be able to look at his face anymore for the rest of my life.

That killed the romance for me and made me feel like everything that had happened between them was a lie. Xiao Yue's affection didn't seem as genuine and, from that point on, I couldn't make myself care about them as a couple anymore. Xiao Yue went from Hero to Zero.

So, my advice for anyone that still hasn't seen this yet is: sure, watch it. But skip the last two episodes, I beg you.

It took me only 2 days to finish watching this. After seeing the original korean drama several years ago and being a fan of it, I just had to take a look at this version. Fortunately, it didn't disappoint. And, what's more: now that I know there's going to be a chinese version too, I just can't wait for it to air.

No matter how many times this story is reproduced, to me it never gets old. The best thing about the thai version is Mike. He's just so adorable that it's difficult to stay mad at him, differently from Young-jae of the korean version.

Am is cute, but she seemed most of the time too childlike. I had to keep on remiding myself she was a woman already. I wish her hair had been straight, she would seem more mature that way.

Right, there's one thing that I must seriously complain about though: what's with that P' Guy guy and his english? Totally unnecessary. It really got to my nerves, I skipped almost every scene he was him, specially when Min was in it too. Second lead syndrome was impossible for this version.

The ost is good, though I got tired of the main song quickly, it's just too overused.

Such a disappointment. If you came because of the novel or manhua, don't waste your time...

I was looking foward to this adaptation because I am currently reading its manhua version. I like the characters and, specially, the art! So I was really excited to watch this.

But... Unfortunately, I was let down big time.

I didn't think that the actress playing our FL managed to portray the character's vibe, aura and beauty. Lin Yu Jing is supposed to be the type of girl that is just so pretty that it's impossible to pass by unnoticed. But Sabrina Zhuang just played her as a moody teenager. I didn't really feel the etheral beauty queen vibe from her at all.

Moving on from our FL, we get Shen Juan, who was supposed to be a tattoo artist... And the drama transformed him into a silver artisan or something? And then those fighting scenes out of nowhere really made this more childish than it was supposed to be. I am way too old to be watching a supposed teenager single handely fight off an entire gang and still win, unscarred. Sure, there's similar scenes in the manhua (and novel probably), but Zhou Yi Ran's body type and stature aren't convincing at all. What's more, those fights start with no reason what so ever. On the first episode alone there's like two scenes. What's the point? Oh, sure, it's just to show how our ML is simply Chuck Norris's son himself. Seriously...

I didn't even manage to finish the first episode, I was afraid the amount of times I was rolling my eyes was unhealthy.
