No literally. There's been honestly some great romances that came out in the past 10 years, but I feel like it's basically the ONLY thing we've been seeing when it comes chinese costume dramas when these worlds offer so much more than as a plot device to get the ML and FL to kiss.
I read the novel! Extremely fun but with a few pacing issues imo. If they fix those in the show, it’ll be a great watch, especially if the character dynamics between everyone stays the same.

Something fun and unique in a sea of endless Xianxia copy-paste romance. Some story beats feel off at times, but it’s extremely enjoyable and charming.
