ep 10 overall was cute but I just don't understand WJ. Like couldn't he have just released a statement saying its not GY who leaked the song? U couldn't do that much for the woman u like? Why does GY have to go through so much, each and every single ep, something bad happens to her and WJ is just like ?♂️?♂️ idk babe. Its like WJ ruined GYs life by getting her fired and then essentially helped her garner so much hatred, and he got beat up by GYs dad in a comedic way and now everything is fine and good? This drama is supposed to be light and fun, but really it does a poor job of dealing with serious issues in a way that trivializes them. Some scenes are genuinely funny like WJs interactions with GYs parents but overall I don't like how the drama is supposed to be funny but at the expense of GY. Ik no one cares but I had to say it.
I do not like this drama one bit but will continue watching it to see how it pans out. Sorry for the long ass review lol.
Who-Joon : I hate his character the most. Absolutely nothing redeeming about him. During his first encounter with Geun-Young, he was super rude and broke her camera. He forcibly held her back when she rushing to the restroom to throw up and she ended up throwing up on him. That was his own fault tbh. She threw her shoe at him which was wrong, but WH gets her fired! He claims he didn't know her company would go to that extent but he's literally a Top Star and told his agency he wont work with WonderWoman if they don't "take care of GY". Then he does nothing at all when he finds out that she was fired. He proceeds to belittle her, gaslight her and look down on GY throughout eps 3-7. When she was getting attacked by his fans during ep8, he legit just stood there doing nothing and asked the staff to help her out. And then that god-forsaken kiss. SO out of place. He didn't even properly apologise to GY. He knew the production staff would be on his side and the show would basically be a witch hunt. But he does nothing to make GY, the woman he likes apparently, not look like the devil . He takes the definition of two-faced to new heights, it's so hard to watch. The actor Choi-Tae-Joon also to me seems very bland. His emotional range is the size of a teaspoon. There are some moments, such as his recording session in ep9, which feel very awkward and cringey to watch.
Geun-Young : Damn do I feel bad for this woman. She's been attacked by WH's fans NUMEROUS times and the show producers are absolute dicks editing the show to make her look so terrible. And they're constantly putting her in extremely uncomfortable situations and the drama makes light of it. All of GY's troubles are treated as a joke and that's so painful to me. And GY being a reporter must've been some sort of joke because.......this woman is more naive than a 12 yr old. I was hoping she'd sign with JJ or take up that offer with SuperPatch or literally done anything at all to defend and protect herself but she just ...... does nothing? She's a frickin reporter. She could've easily recorded her convos with WJ, taken screenshots of his messages where he tells her to "Shut up" and such. She lives in the house where they shoot the show. She could've planted hidden cameras and no one would've known. She's being exploited by everyone around her and but somehow she just doesn't see it...
JJ : Ik he's supposed to be the villain but damn even his character at times seems to be better than WJs. I kinda understand where he's coming from. His gf for some reason just won't stop associating with WJ. She doesn't get over WJ and makes JJ all the more insecure. He's very controlling and aggressive but IH and WJ don't make it any better.
IH : Its hard to sympathise with her because it feels like shes victimizing herself. She has to either completely cut ties with WJ, or break up with JJ. Instead she's stuck in the middle resorting to pills, damaging her health. At this point it feels like she's a gold digger. That the only reason she's with JJ is because she's scared she won't be employed elsewhere. She cheated on WJ (or left WJ first? its unclear) with JJ and was happy to do so before WJ debuted and now she's wavering towards WJ after he's gotten famous?? Gurl needs to get herself out this mess and start afresh.
The ONLY nice character in this drama is the Manager. I ship him with GY. Even he has better chemistry with GY than WJ. He's so mature and warm-hearted and soo handsome ??. And that teenage fan of WJ in ep9, damn her acting is so good because I've never wanted to slap someone as much as I wanna slap her.
Everyone keeps saying how much they dislike the FL and feel as if she is worst than the ML and the ML shouldn’t…
I'm so so glad I found this comment because honestly I was BOILING at the actions of the ML. Straight up I wanted to throw my shoes at his face like Geun-Young??. I thought I was the only one who felt this way. Each ep is super frustrating to watch.
I honestly felt myself boiling with episode 8, she got attacked again by fans, he just stood there and asked someone…
IKR I have been feeling the same since ep 3. Like Who-Joon is actually such a dick to her and all the show hosts and producers are exploiting her and she's just taking it. I was hoping she'd plant hidden cameras herself to expose Who-Joon's pretentiousness or something. She's a reporter, she's supposed to be smart. She should atleast have taken that job at superpatch, even though it's immoral. That way atleast both the lead characters would have flaws. Rn, Who-Joon and everyone on his side are such dicks and Geun-Young is frustratingly naive.
Was the ending rushed since they had to cut a few episodes?
Personally the whole drama felt extremely slow to me and I just wanted to be done with it. So, the ending didn't feel rushed to me??. I think the episodes cut down was much needed.
I am really surprised at how there are barely any negative reviews. Don't get me wrong. Everyone has different tastes and many people prefer slow-burn / slice-of-life dramas. But even the most popular and loved dramas have a good amount of negative reviews. This drama is extremely slow and the plot isn't sufficient to be dragged over even 12 episodes. This could've been a good movie perhaps. Amongst the things that I didn't like in the plot, the main one was Seo-Woo's love for Ha-Won. IRL, it would be really hard to find someone who would openly and selflessly love someone who has already found the greatest love of their life and is in love with that person even after they're gone. It isn't very healthy either. Someone who is trying to get over their love of more than 10 years should take time for themselves to heal, grieve, and truly get over that person before getting into another relationship. But HW finds another love almost immediately which isn't realistic. The drama was about healing but too much focus was given to Ji-Soo who was the main plot point that the FL felt like the SFL. So much screen time was given to HW talking about JS, but they never explored for how long they dated, if they dated and why they broke up. The husband's love story with JS could have also been explored but they didn't provide any insight. The great reveal was also predictable and overall, the drama was not engaging. Good things: actors, cinematography, ost, and general vibe Overall the dramas writing and direction failed to utilize the talents of the cast. This drama is a strict no for those who don't like slow paced dramas. This drama is even slower than One Spring Night or Something in the Rain.
