I can tell you one example from BM: Kichise Michiko [she was the worst at it, though overall I like her] said "eta ne tobayu diyola" and that made me go wtf, what did she say? I'm not fluent in Russian, but I know enough for simple conversations and your basic survival needs. And then I see that it's supposed to mean "This is not your business" [eng subs, that is] and it dawned on me it's "ne tvaju diela"... So that was the only way how I could understand her :D

Uwaaaa, Crime and Punishment was turned into a jdrama as well? Amazing! I might try it out, that book was mandatory at school to read, but I still haven't read it :D I know there's some interesting stuff going there, and kinda serious. Yay, lately I'm finding out about so many non-fanservice type dramas, woohoo.

I'll let you know how Russian it feels to me :D Though the plot says that it's the general story that was used, but the action takes place in modern Japan, so it wouldn't be much of a surprise if I wouldn't feel as much Russia :D

I know I felt Russia in Bloody Monday, cause they were speaking in Russian a little. But the Japanese's Russian was terrible. TERRIBLE.

Hehe, I remember twinklelie told me that she was hesitant to watch the 4th episode of Shotenin and she was glad she did, and now she's into it as well :D As for Karamazov, I don't know the original plot and after what you said I'd better not look into it anyways ;) But because it's crime related and because it's Russian literature, I kinda am expecting some really dark stuff going on. I'm watching it because of Saitoh Takumi and because it's based on Russian novel - you see, I'm Lithuanian, so Russian things are kinda usual in our culture, so I'd like to try something.

I haven't started Karamazov yet, though I have downloaded the first episode. And Shotenin is really something, episode 3 was kinda boring and not as exciting, but oh well, there have to be episodes like that too :)

Hmm, it kinda does make sense if he's an older version of Takei, while for the others - I think they're too old to be changed that drastically. On the other hand, it might be someone young and still that actor is shown only when they're of that age. It is really interesting of how everything will turn out.

Firstly, let me say that this is the greatest article that has been written for MDL so far, and, I think, for a long future as well.

Secondly, I was about to say that usually in Asian dramas the gangs are simply portrayed as the popular guys, that girls are falling in love with them and such. But then you pointed out the red envelope example in HYD and I'm not sure what to say. I think most of the dramas still portray them as simply being the popular ones rather than violent ones [except where the characters are clearly the villains]. But that's a great issue you brought up, I think I will look at the gangs in dramas from a different perspective now.

Just watched it. I think they all look cool, perhaps except Shige, curly hair doesn't really fit him. But overall wow, my favorite part probably was when Tego-kun had his high note and was doing all the cute/cool expressions close-up :D

I found on drama wiki [and now I added this info to MDL too] that the narrator is a completely different person, so I'm really curious of how they will meet up. In the beginning I thought it's the lover.

I know they're only four and I think I even saw one PV after that - the one where they were supposedly on TV.
