In which Lin Xiao Yun tries to make amends and fails...

This episode is half legal drama and half relationship drama. Yang Ting Ting is aware of Kang Jun's imminent departure, leaving the law firm in her hands, but first she is off to Beijing with Chen Yun for his surgery. She's back to keeping Kang Yun at arms length no matter how he tries to show he cares for her. It's getting annoying because no matter how many times he throws her an opening to simply ask him to stay, she won't do it. (Fish or cut bait, girl!) Leave it to Chen Yun to settle her down. In the meantime, young lawyer Lin Xiao Yun is still trying to make amends for her husband's embezzlement and gets in over her head with an acquisition case, in a move that could end her career.

For those who wanted a legal drama....

This episode works its way through a case involving a livestreamer who took what she thought was a fast track to success and turned her back on her former partner to do it. When her new boss shows his true colors, Kang Yun and the newbie lawyer, (I can't remember his name but he's like a bumbling puppy) must find a way to go after him in court. Yang Ting TIng has almost no air time this episode as it shifts to Kang Yun to lead the legal theatrics. which he does as smoothly as ever. For viewers who thought this series was going to be more legal drama and less character-driven, this episode might make them happier.

The Underbelly of Livestreaming

The legal team is drawn into a case involving two young entrepreneurs, one of whom turns her back on the other to pursue a career as a livestreamer only to discover the hidden treachery and dangers lurking underneath. Kang Jun plays a larger role here and while we've watched him stumble a bit in his careful pursuit of Yang Ting Ting, here he's all shark in a lawyer's suit. Lin Yu Shen can switch back and forth effortlessly. He's such a fine actor that one believes him 100% in both personas.

Where will this romance end up?

Tang Ying Ying and Kang Jun are finally admitting their feelings for each other, but a huge obstacle stands in their way. It's going to be fun to see how they make it work, or don't. I started this series not liking the FL at all, but as she's develops through the episodes I find myself liking her more and more.

Still so interesting and well acted

I'm really enjoying the shifting characters. The acting continues to be top-notch. The ML and FL are gradually getting closer, and the junior attorneys are maturing. The subplot of a contract marriage to a mentally-handicapped man in exchange for a lot of money to pay off debts is intriguing.

A new kind of marital case

A husband that tries to trick his wife into a paternity test by telling her it's just a routine blood draw? That's the end of the line for this marriage. One thing that this show could handle better is the origin of these law cases. It shouldn't be a friend or family member as often has it's been. But that's a small quibble, and the acting continues to be excellent.

No sign of a letup in quality

Still absorbing and so well acted! Things are finally heating up and I hope there isn't a crash and burn scenario.

In which we find out something important about our female lead

This might be a pivotal episode, as Kang Yun's ex-wife makes an appearance and our female lead, Tang Ying Ying, reveals something important and painful to Kang Yun about her childhood that impacts her adult life, and to her surprise, finds instant acceptance and understanding from KanygYun, who she has been holding at arms length. Kudos to the screenwriters for not descending into the usual, boring, "scheming ex wife" tropes. This is handled with class, which was an unexpected treat. In fact, there are few tropes in any of this drama, and I almost feel like I'm watching a reality show because the characters are people I can identify with.

The acting in this drama is incredible

So we are at the halfway point and the we're learning more and more about the FL and her motivations. I'm not familiar with her previous work but she's doing a terrific job. Lin Yushen is a standout as her boss who is developing feelings for her but is being rebuffed ... or is he? The writers and director aren't rushing things, and the framework of using legal cases to allow the characters to deepen is fascinating. Truly one of the best dramas I've watched.

An annoying secondary character

This episode revolved around an annoying secondary character and I have no idea where it's going, but she's like nails on a chalkboard. It must be difficult to create and act a character that the viewers want to slap, but the actress playing the young, immature sister-in-law is doing a great job.

Every episode has been a 10 so far.

So far this show hasn't made a single misstep. The quality of the acting is top-notch. The story lines are unpredictable, with a few twists I didn't see coming. As we get to know the FL better, her character becomes more and more interesting. Not sure where her relationship with the ML is is headed but it's keeping me hooked. One of the best C-dramas I've ever seen.

Pehomenal acting from a team of total professionals

Had me hooked from the start. The ML and FL are seasoned professionals and know how to bring their characters to life, even when those characters aren't totally likable yet. Great to see Lin Yushen back on the screen.
