I'll answer one of your questions. Sex, just like in real life, shows emotions or the lack thereof. And yes, it…
Again I have nothing against other characters and cast. All are talented and characters are interesting. And I understand how emotions or lack of can be expressed through sexual scenes. But strictly personal opinion I found them too explicit, long and after a point of time i.e 4 episodes (twice in one) that is literally half the show- completely overkill. Got the point the first time. Second time. Again. Then it was yes overkill. (For me). Not opining against anyone else's opinion.
I personally don't care about screen times or explicit scenes. But I do have issues with both in this series. Yes Great and Tyme do get screen time but not much together so we are not seeing THEIR journey. HOW did they reach to the point of making love when Great knows nothing about Tyme and has seen the man attacking the brother he is close with. Tyme is he really in love with Great? If yes then how, when and most importantly why? What is Great's thought process? What is Tyme's backstory? Great's scenes don't really stand out because he goes back 4 Minutes, change the events making second choices and the cycle repeats. HE was the author backed role and whole 4 Minutes concept was centered on him. Tyme was supposed to be the catalyst. Do we know anything concrete about either character especially Great as to what is driving them? In an 8 episodes show we should have got the answers way before reaching the half way mark. Even if the main story starts now (which should have started waayy before) the damage has been quite extensive. If we don't connect to, understand and root for the characters who were supposed to be the driving force of the very concept of the show; the writer and the director failed their jobs. We know more about Tonkla's story, relationships and thought process than BOTH the supposed leads. And I am yet to make sense how this character is that relevant to the concept of 4 Minutes than Great. Or even Tyme. Korn atleast is the common thread between Great and Tyme and thus moving the story. I do NOT hate the actor playing the Tonkla character. He is pretty and talented. But what does the explicit back to back nc scenes of Tonkla is adding to the storyline? I really hope writer and the makers do have a concrete plot and story to tell and proper narration for Great's character and backstory for Tyme. So far I've seen nothing of that.
They should both be in jail tbh 💀 their fans joining as well
Wellll I'll settle for all of them staying off this series and the cast and leave us in peace :)) Please go be hatefully miserable somewhere else. That's will do for now.
Again Build, the former actor in the series and Poi the writer! Both were mess, created hell lot of mess and ended their circus with out-of-court settlement with mutual apologies. She apologized for lying about 'somethings' (not all) He apologized for using 'miscalculated force' on the woman. Neither he nor she is part of the show. Thank BL Gods. Both sound nightmare. Those who are being exceedingly bitter about their bias Build not being in the show and taking it out in here- It is not Bible or Jes's fault that Build was a scandal magnet and had to leave the show in the shadow of his back to back scandals. Discussing Build, Poi and who is the bigger victim when both could be awful and that too in a page that neither are part of is futile. Being venomous about the show and its cast (and chemistry or lack off etc etc) when the show has not even aired is frankly quite desperate and pathetic. Find peace.
A rarest of rare BL show where I'm more invested in straight couple. Matmi and Half are just adorable. Their interactions sweet, funny and natural and their story seems to be flowing organically. The chemistry is so darn sweet. Hope this flow is maintained and they get their proper storyline and happy ending. Again.. Did I mention that they are so freaking cute!!
"The company seems to be more invested in selling the actors not the characters."exactly my feelings while watching…
I erased Hidden Agenda out of my mind as trauma response. And dropped We are guilt free; in my defense even hardcore fans will find it hard to explain what is the plot of that show anyways. But I genuinely thought atleast GemFourth will carry this show despite gmmtv shenanigans(Agree with all you said about the company) and here they are just either going through motions listlessly or being lacklustre. Surprising and disappointing especially considering the magic that HeartLiming were.
GemFourth were phenomenal in Moonlight Chicken. The sequence of confronting the mother had me bawling for weeks. Fourth especially had the range that was incredible. But this show and i say this regretfully; is a tumble way down for the talents. Gemini is stiff as opposed to stoic. And Fourth is not a patch on Aoki. The acting looks forced and the chemistry (to my utter disbelief) also sort of forced. I don't mind remakes or countries adding their own flair to the original source. But core characteristics aren't translated onscreen. The whole Cinderella scene which was standout scene of Jp became perfect song and dance sequence in TH which missed the whole point and charm and quirk. The company seems to be more invested in selling the actors not the characters. MSP has its own charm and heart. This one is banking solely on the popularity of the original source and the actors and their ship with minimal effort. Cherry Magic Thai did put lot of effort and budget. This one seems to be even lazier effort than say the likes of Cooking Crush. I wish next series of the GemFourth be a good one and they get their mojo back. 2 episodes in and Atom is already in love when we barely saw proper connection; doesn't bode well for how rest of the episodes shall fare. Good luck.
Mame's obsession with fair-skin needs research (and help). Mut was annoying first half but he settles down by second and is pleasure to watch. I get Tong's annoyance and thus expressions but hopefully he should calm down coming episodes. Otherwise that would turn to be one obnoxious character. Not a pathbreaking show by any means and doesn't even pretend to be. Maybe a palate cleanser or placeholder till better ones come by. Actually loved FortPeat in LITA and wanted them to level up. This show is not all that. It could be still fun depending on how Peat's Tongrak shapes up. Props where due- Cinematography is beautiful and serene. And FortPeat are pretty!
Rating the series higher than a BL I would judge by the same parameters because I really want to support GLs who are a rarity. The actors are adorable and chemistry sweet but execution is wobbly. And of all the genuinely likeable and interesting characters who should have got more screentime one who got that more was Ton who stayed annoying for me from start to even more annoying by end. Milk and Love are lovely. OngsaSun though weren't developed well. Sun more so. AylinLuna are freaking cute and unique. Deserved more. Aylin especially. MawinTinh storyline felt like been shoehorned in just for BL sake. Overall cute and fluffy enough but could have been so much more.
I loved how Luna Aylin story started and was progressing sweetly sensitively. Then Luna has to console Ton over rushing to comfort her clearly distressed Aylin. Then it was Ton and Mawin who found runaway Aylin and brought her back home. Then Mawin spoke over Aylin and has to mansplain her trauma. Then Ton(again) has to make it all about himself. Finally Sun comforts Aylin and hugs her and everyone group hugs Aylin. And FINALLY Luna has to slid in as outsider for the group her when she was the first one all along who tried to understand Aylin, made effort to be a part of her 'space' and yeah a tiny forgotten detail that Aylin was her girlfriend. Unfortunate that Luna was reduced to being a supporting role in her own love story.
Mew is hot and I really like him but his pouting act needs a rest. The whole Thai-Korean language dynamics does feels jarring which was not the same for Peach of Time of the same company. The show probably would have better shot had they struck to only Korean with the Vet and the seemingly love triangle with other 2 boys. But been just 2 episodes so hopefully the ride will get better. Not very impressive so far. Mew needs better show than this one seems to be.
What even is the purpose of this show? There has to be so SOME purpose right? Story? Theme? Something? Anything? Feels like half an hour of just randomness.
I'm not sure how I feel about the idea that we have to produce a certain kind of queer content so people will…
I am not saying we need only certain kind of GL storylines nor am I negating sweet young adult stories. I would love to see every beautiful story regardless of restrictions be told well. (I personally prefer happy endings and less misery actually) Objectively just personal opinion that this show is not being told quite well. The tone feels immature not cute; childish not childlike. Again been just 2 episodes so won't judge too harshly and most definitely will support the show by watching it on legal channels. Agree with you assessment regarding target demography of BL series; that's how it started. Can't say for sure who GL as genre is targeting for GL as queer content being told like how BLs are is a novelty. I just wish more stories are made which community will find as comfort and/or good representation and others as good content.
I feel like I'm watching this show with foggy glasses. The amount of filters all over is ridiculous. The back and forth jumping of flashbacks is confusing. Still struck on the fact that Ji and Achi were arguing in their first flashback and second they are best of buddies. Ji is pretty yes. The visuals albeit heavily tinted will keep me going till the finale with liberal fastforwarding though.
When BLs debuted years back and since there was and still is lot of mediocrity, cringe, awkward acting, bad acting, subpar product to straightup cash grab ridiculosity. We finally have reached a stage where there is a push back against such products. Case in point being 2 products of GMM one with top couple and other with popular one pulling in low to lowest numbers and an underdog show such as IFYLITA raking in awards. Yes mediocre shows still get the hype and support but it is mostly the fans who are carrying hype for such shows to finale. Neutral BL watchers are demanding quality and voicing criticisms where it's due. Gls doesn't seem to have such luxury of 'Time'. They started off way too late (infuriatingly tragic) and hence they need to hit the ground running. Unfair though it seems such is the situation. Cute and fluffy is definitely welcome but fluff need not be cringe or childish. I do love MilkLove and they were phenomenal as InkPa & I wish this series bring in numbers and ratings for a company such as GMM to take GLs seriously and produce more shows. But constructive criticisms are also needed to improve GLs as genre and to bring in more audience, popularity and hopefully many more quality products in future. This show is not there yet but then again only 2 episodes aired so hoping for a better ride till end. The actors deserves a quality show.
