The ep 15 was a huge missed opportunity to have Do Hak Song interact with the egg ghost. The implications of ghosts…
Hmm... interesting thought. The show did explain that the egg ghosts do not have memories or personalities, just anger and a desire to kill all in its path because they are an amalgamation of multiple souls, so not sure if they would have enough consciousness to recognize their originator (since Do technically did not start the fires/explosions though he ordered it). That said, I would love for him to have the same fate as the Sauna lady - having him spend a lifetime in jail hallucinating about all the people he has killed. That would be sweeter justice then mere death in my opinion.
This is a show where everyone, the actors, director, writers, set designers, stylists, CG team, EVERYONE is punching…
So many revelations in Episode 13 with no real resolutions, but we have 3 more episodes for that! My favorite parts: 1. Finally, we have the full story of what happened 20 years ago and we can see that JiAh was a capable exorcist from young - she did as she was taught, not knowing that this time it would actually kill her mother. So tragic! And we finally find out why InBum is special, possibly only to JiAh. Does that mean he'll retain his hot pack/memory absorbing power even after he loses his virginity? 2. Love how it was actually HwaJung who gave the necklace to InBum. All those looks she gave him while they were bickering finally makes sense. What an unexpected reveal! 3. Love the introduction of the exorcist tool workshop (cutely called Blue Salt)! What a beautiful and enchanting place, with an equally enigmatic Kim Mi Kyung as the worksmith/caretaker! I wonder if this was where young JiAh went to heal after her mother's death (and learnt more tools of the trade). That bamboo forest was healing even to the viewer. And absolutely loved her nuggets of wisdom (and her 'handsome medium' teasing). 4. I'm so glad InBum is too much a loyal puppy to JiAh for nobel-idiocy. He says that he will disappear from her to make her life more bearable, only to come running with his tail-a-wagging the moment she calls him. Boy is totally in love, but given he has never received much love in his life, I wonder if he doesn't yet know that he is. Ugh! Someone, just tell him already that he's IN LOVE!
3 more episodes... I need a Season 2!!! Perhaps with a married JiAh-InBum with kids?!
Oh Show, How much do I love thee! That revelation at the end of Ep 13! These writers really know what they are…
This is a show where everyone, the actors, director, writers, set designers, stylists, CG team, EVERYONE is punching above their weight. You can feel that everyone LOVES what they are doing, the meticulous care to detail - storyline, visuals, atmosphere... What an absolute gem of a show!

I know some people are dreading the upcoming noble-idiocy storyline the previews are hinting at, but so far, the previews have been purposefully deceiving (InBum was no where near dying! Not even a broken bone after falling down 3 floors while completely crushing that cement slab! That possession armor!). And while I am also DYING for our leads to have some romance , it was clear to me in this episode that JiAh is not ready yet.
In Bum was willing to give up on his uncle's exorcism for JiAh's sake, but JiAh had no qualms risking EVERYTHING, including InBum to get to the truth. I'm glad she did apologize in the end for endangering him. She was also upset at her mom when she thought that by choosing to kill herself, her mom chose a stranger (child InBum) over JiAh. JiAh still has a lot of emotional baggage to overcome before she can receive InBum's heart and I can't really blame her as she's been haunted by her mom's depressing ghost EVERY SINGLE DAY.
We are two-thirds done and I still have NO IDEA what happened that night and what's going to happen next. But the show has been exceeding my expectations with each new episode and I can only hope it will continue to do so.
Episode 12 - I am still processing everything. In a sense, all the reveals were anti-climatic, but also gave a lot of food for thought. I'm in awe that the writers decided to go deep into the grays, that not everything is black and white, good or bad (ok, maybe except for the evil that is Do Hak Sung). That while we want to remember the heroes of our childhood with our rose-tinted glasses, they are merely humans who sometimes make wrong decisions too.
This episode was completely driven by the STRONG PERFORMANCES of our actors. Jang Nara has been amazing the whole show, but that last 10 minutes was Daesang worthy. Imma flip a few tables too if they rob her of any award recognitions this year. Special mention goes to Yonghwa too for his possession scene and that emotionally raw exchange with his grandma.
After watching Ep. 11, my body is showing signs of stress reserved for real life. I carry it my throat—it feels…
So true. I keep telling myself, stay calm, it's a show, that ending must be a fake-out, then a small voice says 'what if the writers decide to go that direction?' and I'm all stressed out again.
I keep saying this but the acting, directing and writing is impeccable. The whole of Episode 11 was a massive…
I love love love that it was the realization that Uncle Ghost was possessing his beloved nephew, InBum, that sparked it all off. Hell hath no fury than a protective guardian’s love! Episode started with JiAh’s mum, and ended with InBum’s uncle.
Other loves: 1. JiAh breaking down at HwaJung’s bedside, and then her absolute drive to get to the bottom of everything. You feel her intensity through the screen! JNR’s acting is top-notch as always. 2. InBum telling JiAh that while he is greedy to find out the truth, he cannot put her in danger. 3. InBum possessed. JYH can be so adorable one moment (that school boy glee when JiAh called him her special medium) and then terrifyingly rage-filled the next.
Also, I just want to stuff Kim TaeJin back into that water drum.
I keep saying this but the acting, directing and writing is impeccable. The whole of Episode 11 was a massive build up to that last scene where ALL HELL literally breaks lose!
I really like Jang Na Ra, she's one of my favorite actresses and watched almost all her dramas. But I have to…
It’s interesting how we each have our own opinions and tastes. This is my first JNR drama and I think she’s AMAZING in this role! She’s a total girl crush, a force of nature despite her petite frame. But what I love most about her character is how we see glimpses of why she is who she is, she is not bad ass or a psycho just because. JNR is able to convey the complex layers of a woman who once tried to do the right thing for the ghosts and the people they leave behind but got progressively jaded as she witnessed and bore the burden of the worst in humankind for a decade. But after meeting InBum, we see those layers start to melt as she finds someone who understands and is able to support her.
This is one of the things I love about the writing in SYHH, how our leads are complex people with a sad/traumatic history who are becoming better versions of themselves and both JNR and JYH have done well in conveying these layers/character growth.
Hahahaha and the look she gave like what is that idiot doing had me rolling. Poor guy everytime she is nice to…
Like you, I thought her reaction was a bit more complex this time. Previously, it would have been obvious disdain but this time, there was a mix of ‘what is he doing?’ + ‘he does look quite good’ + ‘oh dear, he’s making it more difficult for me to tell him the news abt his uncle’. Or maybe, my shipping heart is reading too much into everything!
When Ji-Ah was having drinks with the girl, it looked like she was talking to the herself in the past. She knows…
I LOVED that scene. JiAh, as usual without any sugarcoating, said ALL things that needed to be said to the girl. It was the perfect wake-up call for her, and she changed the girl's life for the better!
