I am loving this slow burn. You can see the pace that they're going is so realistic. From the moment they reunited til the latest episode. They're getting to know each other by actually spending time with each other and we get first row to see them falling. The pace is so well done. and Yu Tu's inner struggle honestly hits close to home. To continue enjoying what you're passionate about (dream) vs doing a corporate job and getting a huge pay (comfortable life). And I like that the ML has emotions for once. we can see him struggling, we see him smiling, we see him joking around. and the FL is not annoying! HALLEJUJAH! one of the most sensible characters ever written especially playing a celebrity. I like that she's so cheeky and mischevious.

Yes it's more mature and realistic. There's no overdramatisation of anything. It's a slow burn.

I don't know how many times I've said this but I really really like FL's character. Her intentions are so pure. There's no malice at all. Every time she tricks the ML, she will always be honest about it afterwards. And her subterfuges are adorable. It's so cute and mischievous but mature and not annoying as well.

Yes true. It has a very mature tone to it. Which I'm loving. They characters act their age. And I'm happy that it's not the fluffy type of romcom. I've been wanting like a deeper, mature believable romance in a Chinese drama lately.

Yup yup. I liked that FIYS has leads that can hold their own as well. But the gaming part in YAMG is like a small section of it. It's a plotline to bridge the main leads together. I think you can watch love 020 as well for leads who are arguably the best at the game.

I get what you mean. But I think she was playing the game casually before she was exposed right. And she only had like a month to train for the comp. If you really have "two left feet" in terms of anything be it gaming, dancing, cooking, it's really really hard. It's either she doesn't understand the basics of the game which I don't think is the problem or she just doesn't know how to apply what she has learned into the game. Because you actually need critical thinking while gaming. So for someone who has never been a gamer, I think it will take a longer period of time to grasp the concept especially if you're not starting young.

I am LOVING the way they wrote the FL character and dilireba is playing her perfectly. It's like the perfect romcom lead for me. Not annoying but still so cute, mature and mischievous. And Yang Yang.....*dreamy sigh* what else can I say about this man. I love how his character is not perfect and he's going through a hurdle. The reversal of the rich ML and poor submissive FL is so refreshing. And this just shows even if you're smart and handsome, doesn't mean you won't have obstacles in life and everything is smooth sailing.

How are you finding the drama? I've heard that some people aren't really liking the gaming parts but I don't think it's a big part of the drama. It's just a bridge to how they meet each other right. And the characters are played so well by the main leads. I might be biased but the childhood friends to lovers trope hits different when it comes to Yang Yang and dilireba.

It has reached 100million views in less than 24 hours in China! Super proud of them. I've watched the first episode and can't wait to dive in further. I love the mature tone it has compared to other dramas I've been watching lately. Mature romance here we gooooo.

ohhh this makes much more sense. I'm not saying the FL is super duper annoying all the time. But when she does, it's REALLY annoying me for some reason. Her friend acts more adult than her. I'll read the novel then.

exactly. that's how their characters were written. It means everyone can play games without being annoying. Basically, the screenwriter is at fault for writing the FL like this. and she's already 23 going to 24 in the drama. Maybe I'll read the novel to see if the characterisation is supposed to be like this.

naaah there is. for example love 020. That drama had its pros and cons but the characters were not annoying. even in go go squid and love scenery, the FL wasn't this juvenile. I'm not expecting the characters to be super mature. just don't act 15 when you're supposed to play a 24.

The thing is they have a total of 31 episodes. And ep 10 is already coming up soon which makes it 1/3 of the drama already. I just finished ep 8 and still no improvement. I think I'm gonna drop it or wait for comments at least to see if there's any character development or improvement to the story. Because I love xu kai!
