I personally think it gets better over time, when you get to know the characters more. But yes, if you find the case after case concept repetitive, then you probably might not like it as much. After the first few cases, the rest do have some sort of relation to each other which builds into a larger grand conspiracy.
For me, I really enjoyed watching Tang Fan's character, a silly likeable genius which kept me going. If you're looking for the bromance, there are some pretty nice/touching moments that happens in the later half of the drama.
I can't hate Ji Soo, just like Jang Geun Soo in Itaewon Class. Kim Dong Hee's innocent image can cover his unjust…
I felt the same way . . . until he took Min Hee's phone and left her there :( That frustrated me. I couldn't hate him in Itaewon Class either, I sympathized him.
Anyone else thought Kitae looked like a younger version of Rain? (https://kisskh.at/people/241-rain) Cause I couldn't stop thinking that throughout the whole drama ><
Unpopular opinion but I also preferred this drama over Yanxi Palace. The acting was superb here and the story…
Yeah and I also read viewers didnt like the FL because they felt like she was too old for the role (and some hated her voice too). But Zhou Xun is really such an incredible actress imo, she was able to make us feel her pain and agony! PS: I also thought The Rise of Phoenixes had some incredible acting + chemistry! ;)
So at the end of the final episode (post-credits scene), it seems to be teasing a possible Season 2? Or was that just me being too hopeful? :( Does anyone know?
As a huge fan of the deeply flawed tRoP, and didn't really like Minglan for too much catty women fighting but…
Thank you for the long write up! I also really loved tRoP mainly due to the main leads and Chen Kun's brilliant acting!
I've started watching a few episodes now and trying to push through by appreciating the history behind it all. I read up a bit on Wiki but I am trying not to as to not give myself spoilers.
Also, I didn't know it was the same director as The Story of Ming Lan, that explains quite a bit now haha.
Honestly, it’s just not that exciting. There’s no romance, no Bromance, no big plot twist, no ah hah moment,…
So I decided to start it and I can clearly see what you meant by "watching paint dry" haha. Thanks for your reply! I'm gonna try to appreciate the history part of it and see where that takes me
This drama, though adapted from a novel, feels like a documentary of Emperor Renzong and Empress Cao. There are…
Thanks for your reply. I decided to give it a go after reading your comment. I have to admit that the first few episodes were reaaaaaally draggy but I think it got kinda better in episode 5 onwards. I hardly ever drop dramas so we'll see where this takes me :)
I was excited to start this one but I have seen quite a few people who either dropped it or gave it a rather low rating. I thoroughly enjoyed The Story Of Ming Lan and The Rise of Phoenixes and am hoping this gives me the same vibe. I can tolerate sad endings for a good plot. Anyone knows why the negativity though? :(
Wait, hold on, there are THREE seasons and not just 2?? That I did not know. Well I'm glad to know we get to see more of each character but omg the wait would be torturing. :(
