He just wants to live peacefully and he has finally understood that emperor treats people like straw dog. So technically he isn't loyal anymore, neither to emperor nor to the system. And the answer to the second question is also yes, this was shown during the play lanxiang wrote for him.
The two halves of the nursery rhyme almost feel like two versions of him. The first belongs to the man who still…
Yes the first half was narrated when he was loyal and ignorant, the second half through 2 years of realisation. Also he did not witness the bloodshed, he is remembering the sacrificed he and his army made back then to keep the current empower on throne out of loyalty. It was his ultimate show of loyalty.
i need someone to explain episode 39 to me like a child. what's with the song about sunlight and moonlight, what's…
Listen to that poem again and you'll realise that child is talking about how everyone is an enemy to the crown, no matter how loyal, no matter how talented, no matter how much hardwork you put to become a helper to the crown, the crown will get you one day and you will never be able to escape. It tells you that the royal palace stands because of all the people who die to make it stand in the first place. So basically a poem on criticism of monarchy. This poem accompanies the big realisation by jinqi. You can see that in the scene where he walks through the capital wearing the red robe of the highest ranking official. Where he is imagining and reflecting upon the sacrifices of his fellow soldiers who gave their life so the palace can stand and how that is futile which you can understand from the lines of poem, 'all are folly' and 'royal palace is built on bones' and ' grass grows where palaces burnt down'.
After everything that happened during 38 they became a real couple, getting their marriage blessed by the Shen…
Also he was not a target of the scheme, he just realised an evil eunuch was gaining power and predicting what might happen, he realised that no emperor is truly a saint. That the entire son of god thing was just to control people into obeying the will of emperor which is the will of heaven. So after this realisation he comes back after resigning when things have settled down a bit in the court.
After everything that happened during 38 they became a real couple, getting their marriage blessed by the Shen…
No, not consummating back then makes sense. They should have just expanded on this more. The reason lanxiang didn't consummate was because the had different paths/ways. Once their paths matched naturally she would consummate. This comes from a place of fear for her. Consummation would lead to children, and those children would be in danger from the emperor if their father was still involved in dangerous politics. She has seen this happen before so its natural to wait for him to resign. What they did wrong was they rushed through instead of showing jinqi's charcter development and their relationship development.
It's not even a bad story by any means, him finally realising what serving the Emperor ultimately means and coming…
Yes, it would have been better if they had done it over time, instead of one eavesdropped conversation. Although that conversation was important, showing the eunuch gain power and jinqi slowly lose faith would have been better. It would have taken like 20 more minutes but the wierdness with rushing of important life moments could have been avoided.
It's not even a bad story by any means, him finally realising what serving the Emperor ultimately means and coming…
Yes that is what i said, to me it still is a 9+ drama. But the the scene of jinqi realising how fickle the feudalism and monarchy is and then him lanxiang finally becoming a couple should have not been an artistic montage, instead it should have been more expanded upon
They tried to communicate everything by showing us but i feel like because of this there was no buildup to the scene of consummation. I understand that they are finally a couple because their paths are no longer different after he resigned, but still with all the deaths in the episode and the time jumps, the leadup to them finally becoming a couple felt a bit empty, it still is a very good drama. This was just not that good of an episode tho.
And the answer to the second question is also yes, this was shown during the play lanxiang wrote for him.
