10/10 - One of the very best Jdramas I have the honour of watching. A sad but brilliant ending at the same time.…
I completely agree! It's such a beautiful and heartwarming drama. That rating doesn't make sense to me at all. I adored all the characters, and their love for each other. BTW you should consider removing your comment from spoiler so that more people can see it and be encouraged to watch it :)
Do you know where I can find Suna no Utsuwa in HQ?
Unfortunately for Suna no Utsuwa, even the HD torrents no longer exist. So the only option is dramacool. I'd say ignore the quality, and give it a watch. It's an absolute masterpiece.
If you want to watch older dramas in higher quality, you can check either nyaa.si for raw torrents and d-addicts for subs. Another site would be raredoramas.com
I always come back to you for awesome recommendations… when I just want good shows that have good writing, character…
Not sure if it's still of interest to you, but I updated my list :) Also I've been watching tons of older dramas and movies lately so I'll be adding a lot more!
When your central characters consist of a bank executive who is a call girl at night, a rapist who makes AVs,…
At the end, she confesses that she prostituted herself and the writer uses that as a point to show that by confessing, she liberated herself. I don't disagree. BUT what was that really the issue? What she does at night is her business. She was not leaking bank secrets so her decision had nothing to do with the bank. Why confess at the bank? And she confesses, and moves out. But will people really change? Everybody will move on while labelling her as a slut. What about the men in the bank who treated her horribly? The guy who sat next to her, tormented her each day and called her out for her sex- he'll just go on living and doing the same thing to other female employees. Shouldn't the FL have called him out for that? He pushed her to the ground in front of everybody - that was assault. He touched her without her consent in the empty room. NO consequences for him? What did her confession bring to her other than shame and judgment, while the real perpetrators walk free? Her mum tormented her and stifled her but at the end all we get is a 'I love you' and 'I did it for love' really?! I am not asking her to kill her mum but shouldn't she have moved out to gain some space and freedom? And no I am not asking her to cut her mum out of her life.
The 2nd ML gets a chance at life. Great. BUT what about the women he raped? How was that girl at the bank so indifferent to the fact that he raped?! I don't care about him making AVs .. many people do that with consent BUT he raped! How was she not repulsed by that? They freaking did not have 1 conversation about it.
The journalist- what a stupid character. His grand idea of revenge went no where. Half-baked. What kind of journalist immediately goes to the criminal and reveals all his cards. Like 101 of journalism is to investigate, gather all evidence and then report. Also so much for going after the truth and justice when he didn't care about his daughter. And slept with the FL while being married. Not just that, when she was bullied and he came running to her in the hotel room, he made it sound like she deserved to be abused because he was sleeping with men. Just because you are in the prostitution business does not mean you consent to rape. Even they have rules.
All the characters were messed up and unlikeable. Again I don't mind unlikeable characters, but its the way they didn't grow at all that annoyed me. FL grew a backbone at the end, but at the cost of what? She exposed herself and walked away. Good for her. But she did not expose the bank and took all the blame on herself.
Esumi Makiko was at the peak of her career post Long Vacation and she chose this script?!
When your central characters consist of a bank executive who is a call girl at night, a rapist who makes AVs, a journalist, a shady bar owner running a prostitution wing, and tons of sexist men, you can expect this to be WILD. And yes, it was wild. This is one of those trainwrecks that hooks you till the end because it was so unpredictable and thrilling. But it leaves a bad aftertaste in your mouth at the end because of its repulsive message of how men get away despite all their wrongdoings while women are judged and pay for every mistake they make. I do not recommend this. Watch with caution if you choose to.
A very humane story of two people who had given up love. The way the leads' relationship developed was very organic,…
The scene between the leads in the last part of E9 was so heartbreakingly beautiful!
the finale was so damn melodramatic.. what a let down. I would have given this a much higher score if not for the bad writing in the finale. like they made it look like he died after Naru stabbed him only for us to find out later he is alive.. and then we see him in the airport planning to leave saying I don't want her to know me and then the moment she appeared he gave himself away like did they write that just to film in the airport or what? Also Naru stabbed Reiji one scene ago, and the next scene of them together they are smiling in the airport happily?
Like the writing was pretty beautiful for the first 9 episodes.. it flowed well and was very organic but the last episode was a mess.. they set it up to look like either of them was going to die but then give us that happy end? I kinda wish they went with a tragic end.. it would have suited the tone of the show better.
also what's with the debt collector and his brother hugging and talking about the sun.. I was confused LOL
And one more gripe - what is with Watabe Atsuro's diction in this drama? He mumbled the whole time. Why did he not use his real voice as it is? That definitely took away from his beautiful acting.
A very humane story of two people who had given up love. The way the leads' relationship developed was very organic, and well done. The supporting characters, too, were flawed and as with most J dramas, you end up empathizing with all of them. My only gripe was the melodramatic finale, which was quite a contrast to the slice-of-life, understated tone of the show in the first 9 episodes. Decent one-time watch.
One man's food is another man's poison. 😁😁😁Comfort food can be anything you create for yourself regardless…
No serious I was out with some colleagues that day and I don't know how the convo got to the point of exotic foods, and some people were mentioning stuff like fried dogs and cockroaches. And I was like EWWWWWW Funny thing is that people expressed disgust over eating a dog but not over eating a cockroach. I guess for a vegetarian like me, meat is meat and all of it is gross. Oh well..
I highly recommend Nine: Nine Times Time Travel (Korean version). It's one of my all-time favorite time travel…
Ahhh yes I watched Nine Times Travel back, and Back to 1989 when they were airing. They're good! Will add them on to the list, and check out the rest! Thank you so much :)
The screenwriter must really dislike a strong, competent FL who is trying to live her life by working hard and…
On the surface / based on the first 1-2 episodes it may appear like the FL is a know-it-all, but she is not. She is a strong, confident, badass woman who is very clear about her life and her responsibilities. The ML constantly interferes in the FL's file and calls her out for her life views when she's not doing anything wrong or showing insensitivity. It's not her fault if the ML is incompetent at his job. She works hard at her job and chooses not to socialize; so what?! She has a responsibility towards her son. She is a single mother, who has clearly been betrayed by people. She is not harming anyone. She makes it clear to the ML in Episode 1 or 2 not to judge her by his ruler, and that is a male-dominated society. And yet, in E5 he has the audacity to stop her when she refuses to talk to her sister. What does he know about her life or her relationship with her family. I am glad the friend told him that it's not his place to meddle. "People have things they don't want others to know". Exactly. Never thought the friend is better than the ML. And then he comes to her house, and tells her that she is the pits because she said her father is dead. And asks her to think of her father's feelings. LIKE DUDE WHAT IS IT TO YOU? Just because you didn't have parents doesn't mean you can preach to someone else about the way they treat their parents. And she's right - you don't know anything. And even if you do, that is her life and her choice to make. He's merely her colleague but acts like he owns her. And worse, he does not look at himself and see how he can be better at his job instead of just goofing around. I can see where this is going- the screenwriter is obviously going to make the ML right in the name of 'healing' her. Seriously dislike this.
The screenwriter must really dislike a strong, competent FL who is trying to live her life by working hard and taking good care of her kid. The title is 'Miss know-it-all' but the ML is actually the know-it-all who thinks the world should revolve around his views. Dropped at E5.
*happy tears*

But I will check it out.
