Other than the heartwarming and adorable relationship between the gentle ML and his lovely mature daughter Shizuku (she stole the show), everything else about this drama was underwhelming. I can't believe Nojima Shinji wrote this because the writing lacked depth, had boring characters and was filled with plotholes. Again, did Nojima Shinji write this because he always writes such layered, complex characters filled with depth that tug at your heartstrings. I didn't see any trace of his writing in this drama. The actors also didn't have the charm and chemistry I've seen them bring to other dramas / movies. It was there in the initial episodes but fizzled out quickly.
Pretty disappointing watch.

OMG same
I've seen 90% of her dramas.. have just 2-3 left.
She really picks quality scripts.

It's probably been a decade since Oguri Shun did a romance drama..
And Okada Yoshikazu has written so many of my favourite dramas!!
And then there's Oguri Shun and Han Hyo Joo's pairing that looks so promising.
LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS!

Have you seen 'Ichi'?
Her elegance and beauty is on another level in Ichi.
Probably her best look along with this movie.

I wouldn't know.. i have watched only 2/3 robot dramas from Japan, and 1 from S. Korea. I barely watch robot-related Asian Dramas / movies.

I definitely recommend this one! I just finished week 12 and it’s so good so far.
Thank you! I will definitely watch it once I finish some of the dramas I'm currently watching :)

Hardy any filler, great pacing, super interesting plot, why is it not rated higher?
that's a pretty high rating for a Japanese drama on this site.

Person Takeuchi Yuko
An evergreen actress from the golden era of Japanese cinema. Absolutely adore her older dramas.. she's missed. RIP.

Has he written anything as dark and compelling as Kono Yo No Hate?I watched that drama recently and I am blown…
Nope. Kono Yo No Hate is his darkest work IMO. Some other darker works would be
Ningen Shikkaku
Kou Kou Kyoushi
Lipstick
Algernon ni Hanataba wo
Takane No Hana
49
Strawberry on the Shortcake

Some of his lighter works are worth checking out too, like -
Golden Bowl
Nanyobi ni Umareta no
Love Shuffle
Pride
Under One Roof
101st Marriage Proposal

He's a solid screenwriter. Most of his dramas are pretty good (barring a few).

Me too!My father is rather religious, and he's reluctant to watch things that aren't documentaries because of…
YAY high five!

Agree on Okaeri Mone. I feel like it healed me and left me with this wonderful feeling of loving and appreciating myself and the world around us better.

Oooh you've gotten me even more excited for Tora Ni Tsubasa.. can't wait to start it!

This was so good, but it could have been even better if this was a mini-series instead. That length wasn't enough to develop the characters and story fully. Despite that, I thoroughly enjoyed this multi-genre movie and was hooked all the way to the end.
Also Nakama Yukie and Odagiri Joe were on another level in their prime; what beauty <3
To be fair, they've both aged like fine wine and are still as charming as ever.
