"Unmet director on X/Twitter: In Episode 10, the thread that Dr. Sanpei was practicing with was 11-0. It's an extremely fine thread that's not sold in Japan, and suturing a 0.5 mm blood vessel with it is considered difficult even for neurosurgeons. People said it was impossible, but he managed to tie it during the actual attempt. I hurried to capture it, not wanting to miss this opportunity! Moreover, since the camera wouldn't capture it unless it was positioned in front, he was tying it while looking through the microscope with his right eye and a the monitor with his left eye! There was a one-second delay between the microscope and the monitor. It was filmed with a macro lens and digitally zoomed in during post-production to make it barely visible. It might be subtle and hard to convey, but Wakaba Ryuya pulled off something incredible!"
THAT IS SO DAMN IMPRESSIVE AND COOOL! The level of dedication, detail and attention the entire team puts into each scene - HATS OFF! Another reason to rave about this drama :)
This deserved concise story-telling to make the impact, and that could have been achieved in a good 10 -12 episodes.…
Like he goes back to Kasik and we see him saying we'll unite in body and soul one day.. like WTF. What was the point of the romance if you're just going to leave them being together to our imagination? Like I'm not asking for a kiss even. But a hug and both of them smiling together would have been sufficient. 20 episodes and this drama kinda went no where.. it's like I liked the leads a lot and some of their scenes were really classy and beautiful but I feel cheated and feel like I wasted my time watching this due to that ending.
While the world was battling with COVID and other countries were churning out the same old dramas, we have Japan…
The wife came across as suspicious to me with the way she was in the building and saw the whole thing. Did someone call her or was she also one of the few involved in setting it up?
Also interesting how she said 'let's go home'... it's like she tamed him. It would be interesting if she was involved because she received his apology and his sympathy while one-upping him at the same time. I find it hard to believe that she was merely a victim who found out so late.
Interesting ML - a leopard never changes his spots, indeed. He apologized for cheating, but the very next minute, seduced the colleague to get to the truth. Not only that, based on the account of all the partners, he seemed to have a very self-entitled attitude like they all had to save him or that all the women were expected to pick up and fall under his charms.. I seriously wish this was longer because I wanted to know more about him. Also the kind of person he is, I doubt he really meant his apology.
Also the live stream - interesting how the views went up whenever it got controversial. People criticize affairs, pornography etc and yet are the ones to stream these things and gossip about it.
While the world was battling with COVID and other countries were churning out the same old dramas, we have Japan who chose to innovate and tell stories about the pandemic (Remolove, Trouble of the Blue Vampire) , or make use of 'social distancing' to tell simple stories involving few characters that were filmed in 1 location (Living, and case in point, this drama) and countless others..
For a 2 episode drama, this was pretty interesting. I was invested in the ML's character, and his relationships with his wife, the junior colleague and all the women. This should have been a 6-8 episode drama because it had an interesting premise, and an interesting ML.
I'd say watch it if you're looking for something short to kill time, but don't expect a fully developed story.
This deserved concise story-telling to make the impact, and that could have been achieved in a good 10 -12 episodes. There was little that happened for a good 3/4 of the drama, with the political discussions centering around the same dialogue each time, and because they dragged that I couldn't feel the tension and conflict between the neighbouring kingdoms. At least there were no evil or loud characters that you'd see in a typical lakorn. The best thing about this, though, were the leads, and the ML's friends cum guards. They were the only interesting characters in the show, and all 4 of them acted their parts well. The leads gave me a very fairytale-ish / Beauty and the Beast vibe and watching the ML fall in love with the FL and attempt to court her was lovely. They definitely kept me invested throughout and I wish the ending wasn't so underwhelming.
the synopsis sounds very sad but the reviews are very positive. Can someone tell me if this drama is too sad?…
It has heartwarming moments that may make you cry, but the overall message I have taken away from 10 episodes so far is of hope, strength and resilience. It's a very positive, inspiring and heartwarming show for me. I'd say give it 1 episode and see if it is for you.
Do you remember where you watched it? I can't seem to find E10 anywhere :(
Seems like there was a development between the leads in E10 which I missed... sigh. Anyway I like the leads a lot so I'll complete it. Thank you for your help :)
This particular one blew me away so I had to share it here.

There are way better Japanese dramas on this theme.
Nagase Ren and Itaya Ruka deserved better :(

Damn this had potential.
