"I don't want to forget the happiness I have now. "
What a heartwarming romantic gem! Uchino Seiyou and Ueto Aya, as always, deliver sincere performances and play likeable characters you can't help but root for. Time flew by with this mini drama which taught me a little more about what it takes to build a relationship :)
Since you dropped it, you might have missed the nuances of their relationship. She did not bully or manipulate…
She may appear to be more confident or dominant, but their relationship wasn't "unequal" in any way. Nothing that should make one uncomfortable but I respect your opinion. To each his own :)
No, this isn't dark. It's a slice of life. It explored existential questions and was gloomy in bits. I teared up quite a bit because it hit close to home for me, but the overall message was uplifting. A very well-executed drama overall (writing, score, cinematography, acting). I highly recommend it.
They are cute actors but the character of the girl is literally bullying the boy with pranks. Not funny or sweet…

She did not bully or manipulate him. Bullying has the connotation of tormenting someone. She disarmed him with her pranks, and would tease him with her flirtation. He got flustered and would get worked up not because he was bullied and felt harassed, but because he clearly liked her, and did not know how to respond when she cornered him. He was no victim. He clearly enjoyed her attention, and adored her but did not know how to express his affection. He looked forward to meeting her, would think of ways to get back at her (not in a revenge-serious way but more in a healthy-friendly manner) and felt heartbroken when she was leaving. Both of them cried when they had to separate, and the way he kept calling her name as she left.. it was obvious both of them were each other's first love, and had an intimate relationship that was different from the other relationships they had with peers at school.
Also given that they're teens, it's very normal that they have not been taught how to respond to attraction from the other sex. She used teasing as a way to hide her feelings, while his awkward and shy self used denial as a way to hide. But you can see those walls break a little in the silent moments when they looked at each other, or blushed when they were close, or even felt lonely and sad at the thought of separating.
cast look great, but story looks absolutely horrible.. lets hope it wont be disappointing
In the past few years, Takahata Mitsuki and Okada Masaki have been picking quality scripts. Kora Kengo also tends to deliver and impress even if the script is weak. So I don't think this would be that bad. Fingers crossed, though. It would suck to have such a talented cast be stuck in a bad drama.
BE STILL MY HEART. A wholesome, and cozy drama depicting the beauty of friendship and the pangs of first love between our leads Nishikata and Takagi, with natural and heartfelt performances by Kurokawa Souya and Tsukishima Rui. Their conversations, their bonding, the teasing, and the flirtation mixed with awkwardness warmed my heart, and took me back to the days when I was an innocent young girl with a simple life dreaming of a love and companionship like theirs. Takagi and Nishikata will Iive in my heart forever. Highly recommended for all :) Can't wait for the movie!

I was having a bad day, and hearing you say that I'm a joy to be around kinda made me tear up. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I appreciate you :)
And WORD if only people could realise that it is the actors' job to act and that we should be admiring and / or discussing their craft rather than discussing their personal life, it would be great. But sigh.. the amount of fights I see on so many pages on MDL is tiring. Its sad that people are talking about everything rather than their acting. Also these actors could honestly care less.. If only we could just live and let live, the world would be a much more inclusive and healthier place.

That's very kind of you, thank you! I enjoy watching actors on screen and off the screen when they talk about their craft, and that's about it. I don't worship them or idolise them. I merely appreciate their craft :) And yes, do let me know your thoughts if you watch any of the movies / dramas I recommended. I'm always happy to hear other people's perspectives.

In my opinion, this is Adachi Naoko's best after Okaeri Mone.

But I doubt it'll happen since the movie has already been filmed and is all set to release in a few weeks.

So natural, so adorable and so innocent.
