oh boy, captain lin is so interesting as a character. he is full of layers ... beside ruolai and shen siblings, i feel like lin qiao song deserves to have 'main character' title. hating the corrupt official yet running errand for them, killing communist yet dating one of their family member, dedicated with his task yet he isn't after money and position. im actually invested to see which path he will choose as he is so contradictive with his "faith".

is the fiancee the character niu chun miao? the writing is too good that i feel they won't add petty love triangle. but i assume she will have a big role considering she is included in opening intro and she is the only one coming from wrl's hometown- which is currently full of communist.

actually there is a lot of audience here expecting for ruolai x jinzhen romance to bloom after watching all the obvious hints. idk about love triangle though, because 20 eps so far and captain lin is more focused on his mission to exterminate communist + capturing jinzhen. or do you mean some other character beside captain lin for this "love triangle" you mentioned?

but romance is indeed not the main focus and it is so subtle.

im with you 😭 i watched him in legend of fei first and his acting was so-so there for me so i didn't check his other works. but then i started war of faith for liqin and wow unexpectedly stay for wang yi bo. he really left me a big impression and im amazed with his acting here. someone recommend me his "Hidden Blade" movie, I finished watching it yesterday and I understand why he got an award for his role there. i also just found out recently that he is one of the biggest actor in china and i honestly think his filmography journey will even raise higher than now.

in their 2nd encounter where jinzhen playing piano, i was actually questioning on why they focus on ruolai's expression so much with placing captain lin across him and i did wonder if ruolai would develop any romantical feeling towards her. but as i read some comment saying the director implied ruolai x jinzhen are just a friends + the characters chart , i just assumed ruolai is just a musical enthusiast and was fascinated with jinzhen's play 🤣😂

but my mind also changed when i eventually noticed all the hints! the tailor, mukbang date, family dinner, new year party.. oh my god, yes i got it i wont be in denial anymore after witnessing all of that and piano scene in ep 16 just confirm it again for me.
