There are indeed dozen story showing hitting as slapstick comedy and i hate it too. Though for Niu Chunmiao, i still see it as part of her character and her bond with Ruolai, not as a comedic relief. Her habit is still a bad thing as you mentioned, I am glad Jinzhen notice and always ask her to stop. Let's hope she tone it down and learn a lesson soon.
For STN, i always hate his one sided view on lower class while yelling "it is for the country". He screams ✨ hypocrisy ✨ from the start and he goes down down soon. 🎶 playing kokobop 🎶 ( i still hope for a good ending for every main characters though )

we cant help it as it is one of her characterization. she is being raised with physical discipline as shown in latest ep so we cant expect her to be all soft and understanding. but i understand your dislike towards her. for me it is part of good writing and how we audience view different personality. i personally dont like shen tunan as a person. 🤣
