in their 2nd encounter where jinzhen playing piano, i was actually questioning on why they focus on ruolai's expression so much with placing captain lin across him and i did wonder if ruolai would develop any romantical feeling towards her. but as i read some comment saying the director implied ruolai x jinzhen are just a friends + the characters chart , i just assumed ruolai is just a musical enthusiast and was fascinated with jinzhen's play 🤣😂

but my mind also changed when i eventually noticed all the hints! the tailor, mukbang date, family dinner, new year party.. oh my god, yes i got it i wont be in denial anymore after witnessing all of that and piano scene in ep 16 just confirm it again for me.

i have never skipped this drama outro ost, i always sing along on that song "not what you think" as i finish the episode because the melody is so nostalgic and full of emotion. as im not familiar with any chinese artist, i look up the singer 'zhou shen' and wow im so amazed by his vocal range, i got goosebumps really. his voice is beyond ethereal.

Please I am crying screaming kicking at ruolai x jinzhen moment in ep 16, why the heck every couple in action-political drama that I watch always have the best chemistry even better than romance drama couple 😭😭😭 In their last dinner date I thought it was great to see them building friendship. but I won't lie to myself anymore, I do ship them romantically now. Their conversation is so natural and comforting. We can see they have a big respect for each other and that is so lovely to watch. Not to mention the scenes where they often steal glances at each other. They honestly give me butterflies. When I catch that I asked myself "What does this mean and what should I do?". They even add teasing from family dialogues, like... director what do you expect from viewer after watching that?

Some user said it is a waste if there is nothing going on between them, and yes I strongly agree now.

i think the synopsis is good enough, it explains the entire plot. this is my second wang yi bo's drama ( after legend of fei, i dropped untamed ) , i wasn't convinced with his character in legend of fei but he works exceptionally good here, he really embraces the character Wei Ruo Lai. idk if the genre is to your liking or not as it is full of politic, but i must say it is totally worth to try. cinematography, acting, writing, filming set, roller coaster plots, there is nothing missing here for me.
