To witness the look of realization of our leads faces when they have realized who they are becoming... I think this has to be one of the best moments I've witnessed.... and I love how serious they are taking this feeling.. the writing and the portrayal of emotions in becoming the family who's your arch nemesis.
This level of trying to prevail and find your footing in the pyramid of bureaucracy at its core... you realize the people who you hate the most is morphing into what you see reflecting back at you in the mirror... I would say the reflection shown in this drama could be on par with joy of life or snow swords stride.
To see the grand Secretary also share my thoughts on the ML character development was so ironic, but you can't ignore the amount of aloofness and naïveness of a dandelion whisping through the wind.. our male lead has to learn how to build out his personal support system and reduce his overdependence on the emperor since he's so fickle... hell he might be the one behind the grand Secretary embezzlement.

wow...this is great! season 2 perhaps? Let's not end this twist of tales yet!
I really appreciate the gradual increasing climax. I have several ideas of what it can occur but given the amazing writing style. I cannot guess..

FFT:.. if episode 32 was truly the last episode. I think it would've been a great Segway into season 2...

I hope one day I can see this meticulous season planning.. it would would be really awesome as if the season two was already filmed and it would debut next month so everything is preloaded, locked, and ready to go...

I foresaw the mishandling of the drama midway. Nevertheless its nice to see familiar faces gracing the screen.

Woah I didn't even know that was possible. I got stuck on the telenovas back then..plus I had Dish Network at that time and it only took passing a certain channel number to see explicit content :/ I don't miss those days lol

I did run across those martial arts dramas a few times but that's literally when my dad would take over the tv lmfaooo

I understand the concern about international platforms influencing Asian dramas, but licensing an existing show for American television is not the same as remaking it or giving American executives creative control. I simply said it would be cool for a quality Chinese or Korean drama to receive a primetime slot in the United States so that more people could discover the original work.

K-dramas were never universally soft or comforting. Korea produced violent political dramas, crime stories, revenge thrillers, and brutal historical dramas long before Netflix.... Streaming has made darker shows more prominent and graphic, and *Squid Game’s* success probably encouraged further investment in that area. But Netflix didn’t invent or increase violent K-dramas that has always been there.. Korea still makes romances, comedies, family dramas, and women-centered stories(that I primarily watch btw). People can choose what they want to watch whether its the Korean aud or International audience.

Plus Americans have watched telenovelas, martial-arts films, anime, PBS imports, and subtitled streaming hits for decades. Language is a barrier, but it isn’t an impenetrable one tbh. With the right show, licensing arrangement, placement, and marketing, it can transcend borders.

You know...liking Asian dramas doesn’t make us an exclusive group of special viewers, and wider access doesn’t automatically destroy the art. I wasn’t asking anyone to Americanize these dramas. I was saying they’re good enough to reach more people. :)

I would even add that before 2023. I didn't see any C dramas or K dramas on Netflix in the US. It took some elbow grease and changing my location to see them before Squid Games and even Love Game and Eastern Fantasy blew up to see more international shows on the Home Screen of Netflix.

To be honest, whether or not c dramas can be broadcasted internationally. It's not really up to us on a discussion board . I thought of sharing a cool idea just out in the open ..I don't really care about if anyone doesn't like it because at the end of the day. I'm not... you know a shareholder or stakeholder making those decisions. :)

TBH I don't think C-drama are accessible. I learned about c drams from my friend after she learned about Viki in 2021. I had no idea that these period dramas even existed... I think there is a barrier in learning about these shows... Back in the day, there was many international shows on TV but I had more exposure to latin or American drams verses Cdramas

Uhh... actually I've had the opposite experience with recent Kdramas. I really enjoy watching the recent dramas.. I know the deal between K producers and Netflix are 12/16 episodes. But I'm pretty sure that both parties can adjust when need be, I wasn't expressing the need for "Made in America" framework btw. I grew up watching the Young and the Restless on CBS and thought "what if a C-Drama also had a prime TV slot?'. Especially since, shows on TV usually aren't in the perspective of young women of the past. The plots in the US are very different.

Yeah, I know the platforms! It did take me a while to find them though. I can see how my comment may seem like I'm unaware. But I was more so referring to dramas airing on TV stations.

I totally understand! But a larger international audience being introduced to c dramas would be nice. The stories told in these period dramas aren't really covered in America. Outside of The Gilded or Bridgerton, or old movies like the Great Gatsby, Gone with the Wind..Maybe in the last century, they were period time films, from a young woman's perspective regarding marriage and status... I don't even know any atm.. Even time migration movies are made from a males perspective..

Even Mavel and DC fantasy movies and shows are male oriented,. I think for the female audience, shows like this would be nice to watch if it was more accessible.

Seems like an awesome storyline, the progression is really stable. The episode progression has great tension building, you know, I kept wondering to myself "what does x have to do with y"; versus receiving all key information at once.

Production, casting, settings and editing are extremely high-level and professional. It's really on par with long-standing soap operas that you would see on ABC7 or CBS.

If their company could pitch this to an American network and somehow get some type of multi season contract, even if it's with Netflix, I feel like this drama would do really well if given the opportunity. ******* I don't really believe in gatekeeping shows when you can give female domstories and plot lines like this more visibility in a MALE dominated world.

omg! That sounds similar to what happened to me when I first joined. It was like a group of people swarming me because I said I didn't like something. It was crazy and it made me not wanna comment.
