If your like me and enjoy male leads that have a potent affinity and love for the fl regardless of what she chooses to do or even how she treats him you will enjoy this. In the comments it talks about how she’s annoying and such and normally that would put me off but i’m really happy i watched this she’s head strong, loyal, ambitious and when she falls for the ml she sticks with him through it all i find her a very enjoyable watch and was happy she is not like other female leads who throw themselves at the men for scraps of attention back.all in all i found this a very enjoyable watch even though the ending was very abrupt and kind of annoying.

the reason i enjoyed it, is because i saw a lot of spoiler that prepped me for after ep 29 where everything essentially goes downhill (story wise) as i wont go in to too much detail.
but the one thing that really bugged me is that we didn’t get a lick back 😭
i live in the western world so im not too well read on communism and the CCP but i was rooting for them and it just ended nothing else this would have realllly bugged me had i not known
1) that the ending was rushed
2) that there was supposed to be a lot more episodes like 50 and it got cut down so i was more lenient in judging
overall i liked how obsessed he was that was a running motif in this review if you just skipped to the end 😭

Review/rantPrefacing by saying this is my opinion, giving another opinion to a potential watcher like me. Anyways this was such a terrible disappointment as I’m like the biggest Yang zi fan and everyone was yapping about this is the biggest best feminist drama of 2025. Serious rubbish it’s one thing to carry yourself with grace when facing adversity it’s another thing to bow everytime something goes wrong. Her character was so dull in comparison to everything that happened to her there was essentially no development in like 45 episodes? She would meet this irredeemable piece of trash that tries to end her or her livelihood and then forgive them talking about life is hard? Loool. Her having a woman to woman chat w that princess after she gave her that small punishment for killing that kid she was with and setting her home on fire (the one she worked for like 20 episodes to get) talking bout we don’t need to be like this women should band together is not only poor form it’s actually irritating to watch. Her inability to discard people that were awful and just allowed them to roam around her like she’s some mother thersea was also poor. Her characterisation of the whole yes, people spit in your face but keep turning the other cheek until you have no more skin left is so distasteful. What groundbreaking feminism where people talking about? The conversations that people said where meaningful is literally just common sense. Yes girl, leave the man that has been beating you I have money you have money??? Please it’s truly not that hard idec. There where no actual complex conversation on the oppression of women and if it even went in the direction of looking at the part men play she’d be like “no what men don’t have anything to do with it! It’s this terrible world men have it so hard too 🥺” 😂 as if men in that time didn’t own the world. okay.
Look I tried so hard to get past her lack of spine to maybe immerse myself in the romance? No. The male lead, court jester, town ho* (artificially or whatever) that was constantly running from any type of affection like a woman that had been cheated on by her husband… (I’m saying essentially the roles should have been reversed) making her first his debtor, then his worker, then his maid/slave? (I didn’t get the ownership bit) then his concubine? Actually terrible. The continuous power imbalance combined with his lack of effort to emotionally support her romantically. I mean he goes sour because her brother(?) Returns a broken hairpin signifying the end of a relationship or something… when he knows that guy likes her. The whole thing was actually a hot mess and get this lol all that acting like an irresponsible douche for years didn’t even have him clear the big boss first time they bloody lose? (I read this somewhere lol) So your telling me all that acting like woe is me I get to drink a bunch of alcohol and pretend to screw bunch of women act didn’t even lead up to him clearing the game and uncle immediately they lose? Rubbish. Anyways forget that bit. Whole drama severely overhyped nothing that hasn’t been done before story actually kind of worse than normal lol it was just ragebait the entireeee time if shes not getting beat up she’s getting framed if she’s not being framed her little sister is dying if her friends aren’t dying her father is forsaking her and then her becoming a slave and that, honestly I could go on but you get the gist. And after all this happens there’s not a icing of her demeanour no difference in her outlook no difference in her character no change at all? It honestly felt like propaganda for how women should face oppression. “Ladies ladies you want to be a good woman? In order to be a morally great girl if anyone slaps you 100 times make sure to forgive them 101 and also give them some money on the way” hyperbolic but again you get the gist.
Anyways overhyped, if you’re expecting some nice woman at work sisterhood drama idk mate that’s your prerogative. But watch blossoms in adversity instead she doesn’t get beat every episode.
Honestly really weird this was gassed up so much, a terrible, useless, insignificant and disgusting amount of violence against women like jeez we get it.
