True i am even hopeful that the author would work together with screen writer to add mpre story since hikaru no go end in not so many chapter not like the other popular anime or manga

It is really makes more the reason that hikaru is still a child that is just grown up, imagine when playing so much fun or addicted with it can you stop for a while? Maybe it can makes people not sleep for a night example the drama is so good and cannot stop for watching etc. If he just felt regret would he cried himself to the point of not wanting to play go anymore??, he plays go cause only when he plays he could feel sai is still around him, and i guess from then on his fate already sealed that he would devote his entire life to play go searching for connection with sai. And beside that fortunately hikaru still has a connection with his fated rival that would always be with him in ending chapters.

I forget the detail of the anime or manga.........., cannot be helped about that, he is just a young teenager that addicted to a new world opened in front of him, he loves go and want to play it himself to know his own level, if not using sai then all the enemy would be frustrating to lose, sai already played the go for 1000 years. If he is really always using sai to play instead of himself then he would become just a chess piece or a doll that doesn't have his own thinking in the play go.

The screenwriter and the director are from hikaru no go cdrama. Really hopeful they don't add too many romance in this drama, or likely this is gonna be a waste for really rare chance with wu leo and neo ming hou in one drama if they couldn't made the romance as good as cross fire where the romance aren't annoying even add to the plus of the story.

The drama isn't based on a novel afaik so I doubt it's gonna have any romance between the male leads but the poster…
I am afraid they gonna put on romance...., when i watched the trailer i thought this is gonna be romance with thriller genre .
