Expect More Backstory and more details

I supposed this version has much more back story. Production and all is great. Movie production I would say. This version of Huang Yaoshi seems very apt and more realistic as compared to many other versions I have seen. Mei Chaofeng is very well portrayed and also, finally a version that gives more depth to Cheng Xuanfeng. Most version just briefly portray this couple, but this version do a more detailed version of the two.

Mei Chaofeng is also being told in a less evil manner as she was compelled to retaliate. It shows how she was very much misunderstood for killing a baddie. Both Xuanfeng and Chaofeng are more humane than how they were portrayed over the years as evil. I guess it's time this was moderated and more detailed to show their compelling path.

It's a decent watch and sure re-watchable, especially for the Condor Heroes fan.

Alrighty, I am off to continue with the sequel of Eastern Heretic and Western Venom now!

Great Plot . Great ML/FL . Not to be missed!

Not a fan of Xianxia actually, At first, I watch because of Bai Lu and Joseph Zeng, but once I started EP 1, it draws me in. The story alone is already strong enough . What more with great ML and FL for this drama.

I totally enjoy the story progression and how the plot unfolds with unexpected plot. That is what truly make me stick to the end. If you like something unexpected with a strong story line, please try watching this drama. You are in it for a treat for sure. It's not just eye candy for having the ML and FL alone. Finally, a XianXia i can connect to and like it after so long.

Give it a good watch ya!

Plot that won't make you gripe!

I like how the story is being unfold in a "calm manner". By that I mean, it doesn't make you gripe over and over because some plot were being told in a way that makes you gripe so much, like making the FL/ML suffer over and over and over to no end before they overcame the challenges.

Now, this is the interesting part, where usually "calm" plot may not work very well, but this drama, specifically , is able to make it interesting, unfolding different layers of plot calmly with a nice touch. It's not contrive, but interestingly mystifying and surprising as well, blending in with great, simple romance, friendship and display of FL's extraordinary wits.

The way the FL solves cases with ML and also, the nature of FL being determined, smart, able and trustworthy strengthen the FL role along with the interesting way the plot sets in. It keeps me going without feeling overly contrive and believable.

If you like drama that is sort of a surprising mystery type, with romance, loyalty + friendship that is "calm' (won't have heart attack type, but keeps you relief, wanting more), then this is definitely for you.

Break conventional expectations and be patient!

Honestly, it took me a while to get a grip and stick to the end. I wasn't really use to the dual dimension story telling where the story has an awareness of modern and reality where it it involves the actor. So, patient is key I guess. I watch on past Episode 3 and 4 , where i eventually stick to the story. It is quite interesting and I would say refreshing.

Both female and male lead do very well. I like Liu Yu Ning better as he fits the role well - cool, calm and emotional. Female lead at times annoys me, but well.. female role, needs some sort like that , I guess.

i gripe most as the script is really cruel to the male lead, at times, overly done , so it gets viewer quite angry and emotional. I guess that makes viewer stays on to keep watching and see the outcome expected. Nevertheless, the story was saved with ending that would out viewers at ease. Bringing the consciousness of the male lead back is surprising a good ending. Not the usual corny good ending.

So, overall , I still rate this a great drama to watch, but do be patient, Try give it a good 3 - 4 episodes before you give up hahahaha.
