Gong Seung Yeon's acting is putting me off. đThis isn't "Six Flying Dragons" , a Goryeo/Early Joseon…
I actually like the deep, slow, deliberate way of speaking she hasâquite arresting and dramatic. It sounds authoritative.
But, there was one scene where she was screaming hysterically because the public loved Huiju and the Prince so much and her father basically said to get a grip. Well, her screams sounded so shrill and awful and reminded me why I dropped âAre You Human Too?â after ep 1 or 2â because her screaming and acting were so offputting in that.
Her acting is much-improved here in âPerfect Crownâ, quite good actually, except for that shrill screaming. I really enjoyed her in âFlower Joseon Crew Matchmakersâ (something like that). That was a fun drama. She was charming in that.
I really like that đŒpower balladđ”that played when she ran into his arms after a long exhausting training session with Court Lady. It sounded like Celine Dion, but I really doubt that it was.
Somewhat? It's all together unapealing for most individualistic person who prefer privacy, look what it did to…
I said âsomewhatâ because if you love the person, then the life with that person can be appealing despite the challenges and unappealing inconveniences of being royal. But, if there isnât love on both sides, itâs not worth it at all.
I am confused why they took so much influence from the British royal family for this drama. I had this thought…
I find the correlation to the British monarchy odd and interesting too. I notice Kdramas (even Cdramas) seem to admire British culture, but criticize American culture (especially HollywoodâThe criticism of Hollywood is understandable though). This drama definitely seems to take inspiration from real-life existing royal families, but not just the British. The car-failure/car-crash reminds me of British Princess Diana, but also Princess Grace of Monaco. The commoner marrying a prince (Huiju / Ian) reminds me of Meghan and Price Harry. I would imagine similarities exist in the Japanese royal family, the Norwegian monarchy, the Danish royal family, etc, etc, etc.
